Jordan Peterson was part of the motivation I needed to actually get out from under my workplace and start a business with some friends, we've just made our first sales and releasing our product and I'm very proud of what we've done. Peterson is absolutely right, struggle forward, do the best you can and set an example. And also not mentioned in this video but in other talks he's done, that small incrimental improvement adds up over time, part of the success especially in career you see around you is from people who have perfected the same thing for 30-40 years and have had slow and steady improvement over that time. So go and read a little extra every day, learn something new in your spare time, and as he said you only need to work 10% more to get a 40% more return so going that little extra distance. And don't resent and hate people who have been successful, speak to them and ask them what they did to get there, they'll probably tell you. Hard work, going that little extra distance, adopting responsibility.

@Farmer Beth Jordan Peterson is not to be trusted. Right now worldwide we have a false right taking bouncing power further LEft away from the individual in his county. PEterson rose to fame because he was supposed to rise to fame, as he is a part of a controlled media dialectic. IF Jodran PEterson cared about free speech he would tackle the fact that in 1974 PopeTrudeau Senior gave away the power of currency creation to the IMF. Bypassing both the BNA Act and the 1938 bank of canada act on currency creation, meaning Canada has not had a legitimate federal gov since 1974. And if you dig even deeper you will find Canada was never a sovereign nation at all, but a collection of peasant colonies absorbed by the fed gov. The fed gov is constantly expanding due to inflation until it collapses. Right now any who align with the MAple LEaf Brand IDol are being bent by cybernetic force. The CitizenSHIP, The Trust is a metaphorical Boat, and Breech of trust sinks the boat. The unconstitutional debt afixed to the citizenship has sunken our state of mind. We are sick right now world wide. NAzism is in our heads, the socialiss poison. Hitler lost ww2, but nazism won, its here on our shores in our hearts and we tear down Christ. MAkes sense, who killed Christ? A centurion. Who'd he work for? the government. The government killed the only begotten son of God which he sent to Earth to save us. The son of God could have killed us all, but he showed us we don't have to be just animals, we don't have to feed our egoes, we chain up the beast and toss it back into the underworld, back below the waters of consciousness. The beast emerges, WE ARE THE BEAST.

I find it fascinating listening to a person like Dr. Peterson using a theistic interpretation to things as he does. Notice he emphasises that his old ideas been worthwhile and special pleads for his specific belief of Christianity. I never trust a religious preacher in any guise as they're more likely to misconstrue the evidence for their cognitive bias. It's not as if he has any evidence for the belief to be real.

    • @orzellezro

I would not class JP as a religious preacher and he has often commented that the tenets of christian faith (do unto others etc) are consistent with his theories on self improvement . To dismiss him as a religious nut is one of the ways that some members of the "liberal" mainstream media seek to portray him, primarily because they lack the wit and intelligence to challenge him on the substance of his theories.

33:24 - This is one of the central messages of Peterson that has really stuck a chord, especially for myself. I didn't have much schooling and by 18 I was basically uneducated and staring the prospect of a life of struggle in a ex-industrial, high poverty and crime town. I knew I was intelligent, just didn't have a chance to use it, so I decided to educated myself in physics and then philosophy. I got down to Sartre and Camus pretty quick. So I understood my completely insignificant place in the universe and had the existential thinkers in my mind to back that up. I played life life a meaningless game, I took incredible risks and shirked all responsibility. Strangely this strategy really worked, I got very wealthy, considered successful, did very well with the ladies, all with very little effort. But by 35 I was really starting to wonder if I'd got something wrong. I had plenty of money, I was still partying, normally with 20 year olds, doing drugs, and playing Call Of Duty everyday. This was what I wanted, but it didn't feel right any longer.
It was around this time that I started watching a lot of RUclips, which doesn't sound like the best way out, but I found people that talked to my problems, like Peterson, and also people that talked about the things that were going wrong in society. I was living in Norway, and the rise of feminist thinking had meant that all the younger girls I was meeting had some really warped views of men. Anyway. I quit my jobs, left Norway to go back to my home town and reconnect with my family after being away 13 years. I helped both my parents lose weight and come off all medication, which was incredibly rewarding. I met a (young) girl who shared my views and wasn't into all this post-modernism. I enrolled into university at 38 and now I'm 40 and in my second year, hopefully go on to do a masters in philosophy and maybe get into academia or teaching. And I haven't played Playstation in over a year ;)
The French philosophers got me early, and the message of living free and without responsibility was exactly what I wanted to hear. I can't say I regret it, but at the same time, I realise their thinking was flawed. Maybe JP overdoes the responsibility part, but I'm sure it's a key element of a well balanced life. People tend to go to extremes, especially men. Like always, I'm no exception.

@@neoepicurean3772 I tell you that - the more concentrated your attention is at one thing , the less there is for the surrounding. Concentrating all my being on discovering the part that generated attention , discovering the "talking" part of my mind that had no names , but was undeniably existent - I left out the part with which the feminine society (men and women , but women were more alienated) interacts , making the teen years ... barren from all interaction.
I pay for that daily , dearly and for it to be repaired and socialized - it has to be shed of all grandeur and "sugarcoating".
The fruits from said "adventure" are yet to be brought to existence , if they ever will be , but as much as I can share my experience regarding "focusing" - I'd be rewarding for everyone if the constructive part of it will serve for the good of all...

Thanks for sharing your story. I find your approach to life being shaped by existentialists really interesting, though, in that you seem to have responded to the meaninglessness of life in the opposite way that existentialism exhorts for the most part. I don't have a deep knowledge of existentialism, but doesn't it generally limit the person to MAXIMUM responsibility for the quality and meaning crafted for one's life, since there's no inherent essence that life offers? Isn't the man who realizes life's meaninglessness thus become completely responsible for creating meaning for his own life and however his life turns out? I'm not an existentialist in the vein of Sartre or Camus, I think, but if I can read your thoughts on the above in relation to your life, it'd be appreciated. Again, thanks for sharing your story.

Listening to ALL of his lectures, videos, interviews, etc., as many as I can find in June 2020 in lockdown self isolation, despairing about what is being going on around the world and maybe HOPE lying at the bottom of Pandora’s box after all the ills of the world had been unleashed upon humanity; Plague, Chaos, destruction, etc., in the form of Dr. Jordan Peterson might, just might inspire these young people! Maybe the cleverest of the lot, to study psychology, and all the necessary disciplines to help make the world a better place. 🙏🤗

I think part of the reason I as a woman watch these videos is that it helps me learn what good men are supposed to be like and how they should treat women. I've kissed some frogs in my 21 years, and it gives me hope to see this movement of men getting their acts together. As well, it is highly relevant to people in general to be aware of their importance as a thread in the grand weaving of existence.

I bet if you spent some more time conversing with them in the more important matters of life you’ll be able to assess if they are a toad or a prince with greater ease. Watch what they eat. How they speak, their interaction with their family members, their best friends but also the waiter, the bus driver etc. then you will know their character. You need to wait long enough to see these things before the kissing begins. But I’m sure you have :)

Kvothe Windrunner EXACTLY, so let's all do it individually but together thus making the whole process easier, no embarrassment or shame no struggling EVERYONE helping EVERYONE to take responsibility for their own actions as a collective. We do have a responsibility as a species, infact we have many. So as a species let's take responsibility for our actions. When we all work together, there's no limit to what we can accomplish.

    • @apage611
      @apage611 5 лет назад +4

Well it is also due to the intention of the interviewer. Quite often the interviewer is trying to catch him out or they ask him questions that misrepresent his views, so he is constantly having to have a high guard and re-affirm his positions - which I imagine is quite frustrating.
If the interviewer hasn't got an ulterior motive Peterson seems much more relaxed.

Last question was damn good. One of the single most motivating things in my life, is that emotionally i have conquered every difficulty. Recently i have been in a tight and intense struggle due to a complicated personal life. The anxiety is wild at times, but every time i remind myself of what i have accomplished in the past in steadfastly dealing with the suffering, i find some peace, some release and i focus again on being grounded and contending.
Love Peterson, one of his best lectures ever period. For those who are ready this has just about everything that you need to know to discover meaning and begin to really take the step you have been longing to take. Deep, thorough and covers all the important topics.
