The special warfare combatant-craft crewmen is a United States Navy special operations force that operates and maintains an inventory of small craft used to support special operations missions, particularly those of the U.S. Navy SEALs. Individually, SEALs and SWCC go through separate specialized training programs that emphasize special operations in the maritime environment. SWCC are trained extensively in craft and weapons tactics, techniques, and procedures. Focusing on clandestine infiltration and exfiltration of SEALs and other special operations forces, SWCC provide dedicated, rapid mobility in shallow water areas where large ships cannot operate. SWCC must be physically fit, highly motivated, combat-focused, and responsive in high-stress situations.

True, but they are also more than just maritime cab drivers for maritime special operations forces. They themselves can do recon, DA and few more stuff. But their primary mission is to provide maritime transport for mission insertion and extraction for special operations forces.

There are scenes in this video which are also in the movie Act of Valor. I don't know which came first, but I know that the SWCC's and the SEALS in that movie are not actors, they are active duty.

I worked with a retired sailor who was served in Korean War, then as an older guy did two tours on PBRs in Vietnam. Described that some nights were a fight up river and back, referring to a traveling to a neighboring town to ours.
Doing SEAL delivery and pick ups. Always hated the thought of being blown out of the boat and dealing with snakes. Imagine being in your thirties doing that.

Tip of the cap to all of our men and women who have made the choice to serve and protect our freedom. I give you mine, and my family's, heartfelt thanks...But, if you have never taken a ride in a "jet" boat, it's damn sure worth doing. I've ridden em a couple of times on the New River in West Virginia...they're a blast, and a lot of fun. Riding up through some big rapids, around boulders, down in the New River Gorge...the scenery is awesome. Regardless of where it is, it's a different perspective than you'd have riding down in a whitewater raft or kayak...and a lot faster. A lot of fun, and well worth the price.

The 'behind the scenes' for Act of valor describes them unloading 18,000 rounds for the two boats. The director (Mouse McCoy) asks if this is a lot of ammo, the reply; "no this is a normal day's life fire training load!"

Todd B You can cross branch while you’re going to West Point but you have to do it before you graduate, and it’s frowned upon.

Not to mention the 160th. SOAR bringing these boats, and crew in by air 😏

I was a marine stationed in panama for two years. Specwar used to run five miles and then swim a mile or so monday wednesday and friday.
The one sailor i knew would go out fishing everyday in a scarab boat and spot cartel drug boats. Talk about a great gig.

I've seen Act of Valor 50 times. Great movie.
Well lets see you have 4 highly maneuverable relatively fast jet boats with at least 2 .50 BMGs and 2 GAU 134s per boat just with the 134 your putting out 77 RPS x 2 and the BMG is generally good for 450 RPM x 2 then take just this x 4 boats! 18K rounds would disappear in a heartbeat and that not counting 1 individual weapon!
Things have changed a little over the years but, there was a time prior to 2003, when a four boat det would shoot more rounds in a one month training trip than a marine battalion would shoot in a year.

don't do that. If you want to be SWCC, tell your recruiter you want a SWCC contract. he probably told you that the riverine way was faster, he's just lying to you. The jobs aren't related at all and you'll have to get released if you do it that way (which is or isn't likely, depends on your CoC). Tell your recruiter you want a special programs contract, he just doesn't want to do the paperwork.

dallas yap there are 5 special programs in the Navy. Seal, SWCC, EOD, rescue swimmer, and diver. Each program has a mandatory 6month delayed entry (or DEP) to screen candidates. It’s 6 months of the recruiter following up, making sure he’s working out and going to the weekly PSTs, staying out of trouble..... basically babysitting.
The reason he’d lie is because riverine isn’t a special program, the recruiter is trying to get him signed and get him on the bus. Recruiters have quotas they need to meet.
