The piano melody came first. On that particular day, I wrote 8 different projects that were all just different 8 bar piano etudes, each having a little something different to the way I usually write them (so at the very least, not starting at C minor). :) But the implication that there are Etudes No 1-7 out there is not yet true. 8 is still the only one I actually turned into a full song, the other 7 are waiting in the wings for whenever I'll get back to complete them. :) What I'm doing with Neptune (the "vocoder") is both correcting my pitch (not dramatically, I'm fairly close to the notes I want to sing, it's just making sure I don't stray too far) and playing chords of accompaniment voices to my original singing. :) Quite a few of the rhythms in the song are polymetric, and that's the specific thing I had in mind when I wrote the lyric lines about finding the groove. :) Thanks, and of course you are very welcome to enjoy it in your car too. :)
