Yeah I was concerned about longevity when I got it but this has been a stable little machine so far. If that changes will update. My T620 died abruptly on me recently so I am focused more on reliability.
I can't believe I didn't know this until someone commented a few weeks ago... but these have a 128GB eMMC onboard. Im probably going to install proxmox on mine and then kplop the USB for unraid but yeah TrueNAS and some high capacity flash could be pretty great also. I do wish it was 10GbE though.
@@DigitalSpaceport I wish it had 10gbe too, i also wish i had money to buy 4 x 2tb nvme's :( the 2.5g doesn't bother me because i don't need stupid fast i just want faster then spinning rust storage.
Good to know how it performs over time. Basicly there are a few more things you could mention ( you did a little in your other vid), the station has WIFI6, Bluetooth and a 128GB eMMC Unraid is not able to use. You can install diffent OSes to the 128GB eMMC or just use another USB drive. True NAS and Openmediavault should work for an alternate NAS OS. In OMV you could install it very easy on the eMMC with a lot space left. OMV has support for the build in WIFI 6, so you can set up the Wifi as an extra network device and have a lot more possibilitys. Basicly you can use it without a cable connection or just as a backup connection. I think it should be possible to add USB Network adaptors to the Lincstation and have thouse for extra network devices and more bandwith. As for me my PCs only have 2,5G LAN or only 1G LAN, for me alone the 2,5G of the Lincstation is ok i wont need more atm. The added Wifi is more a plus, so i can put the station in places i dont have LAN connections. Its more flexible with cost of bandwith. Choosing unraid for this unit, might be a short term decition, as they dont have an own OS yet. After looking at other systems from Asusstor and QNAP, the setup of of thouse is pretty similar using the same CPU, NVMe Slots and so on. The compareable Asusstor and QNAP devices cost a lot more and have some weakness against the Lincstation too, money you could just save and use for NVMe devices. So overall i must say pricewise the Lincstation offeres the best Hardware for the money plus a unraid starter licence you could use on other devices too.
It has 128gb eMMC!!! Very cool, thanks I didnt know. Yeah I thought about using the front usb-c to plug up a 2.5 humm I could install proxmox on this and kplop the usb to keep unraid running also.
@@DigitalSpaceport Really? 😁 Well its in the specs, just a bit stupid unraid does not support it. I did install OMV on the eMMC but im unsure whats better install proxmox 1st and let OMV run in VR or just install OMV and use docker in OMV for the few extra things i might want to run. Maybe a good topic for another vid.
Im a proxmox maxi so likely proxmox makes sense for me. If I can add another always on node to my cluster it gives me more freedom for other machines. These low power dudes are perfect for that! Just be mindful if you use zfs as root proxmox can kill oom vms/containers
correct me if I'm wrong but those nvme slots are only PCIe Gen 3x1 each... which would suggest 1Gbps maximum. 2.5GBe Lan therefore would be more than enough to cover the bottleneck speeds of the drives? Or have I read the specs incorrectly?
A gen3 x1 is not 1Gb/s rather its 1GB/s which would match to a 10Gb nic, however ive not checked what these are attached as gen and width wise. Ill check that when im in unraid next.
I use these geni.us/5TB_portable_hdd 2x 5TB WD USB drives. They have been working good for almost 3 years now straight. I do not use them for ZFS but trad unraid mirrors and they can idle down and such. ZFS pools keeps your disks spinning all the time. My unmeasured, but somewhat grounded, though is that it lowers their temps. They stay cool to the touch.
good stuff! thanks for doing an update video, most channels don't do it.

@@DigitalSpaceport now i understand why you were in the middle of building out a SSD server in the other video! to replace the T620!
Have one too, might try putting TrueNas on mine !

The unraid licence is lifetime or is it for 1year?
@@SixAxis-i6r Its a starter licence for up to 6 devices. Will work a lifetime i guess but receive updates only for 1 year.

Do you have a guide using Windows and Nvidia GPU?
Does this still ship with an UnRaid license or is it subscription?
Its a starter license for 6 devices is what ive seen reported, so thats just a year of upgrades. I do believe the new model also has 10gb networking.
