Not mutually exclusive. A lot of people are for themselves and do it at other people’s expense. Nevertheless a valuable message about everyone having shit going on in their individual lives. Still tho...
This pandemic is a pretty good example. non one expects anyone to sacrifice their well being, buuut some people take reasonable self preservation to an extreme level and hoard and OD on supplies because they’re “for themselves”.

      D L
So I got just a lil carried away typing this cause I’ve spent so much time thinking about all this lately, just some shit I got into but it’s def worth reading..
So I literally realized that shit while playing a battle royale game.. kept losing in what could be considered unlucky ways n I was pissed, for most of life I used to feel like life is out to fuck me over so naturally I’d feel like that when some unlucky shit happens, then the realization just fuckin bodyslams me like “naw, these people are people too, living their own lives. They’re not just tryna fuck me over, they don’t even know who I am. It’s not that anyone else wants me to lose, it’s that they want to win for themselves, because just like me, they’re an at least somewhat normal fuckin person and they’re playing the game, they want to win.” Same in life. nobody else (for the most part) wants you to lose, it’s that they don’t want to win. We playing COD, I don’t necessarily want u to lose but I’m tryna win so I’m gon kill your ass 😂 same in life. The reason lots of bad shit happens to you is, hear me out. It’s not because you are you, but it’s because of who you are, if that makes any sense. You can’t change anything associated with you without changing who you are because what you do and have IS ultimately an extension of who you are regardless of what the religious people may tell you. Sayyyy Idk you always have shitty relationships. Girls seem to lose interest in you after a while of being in a relationship and they leave you. This is literally LIFE FEEDBACK telling you that that is the kind of person you are. You get into relationships with girls n they lose interest and leave you. So IF you want to CHANGE that YOU need to become the kind of person that girls DONT lose interest in. Here’s the thing, I wouldn’t say life is a game, (life is life but of course don’t take it too seriously) but things work how they work and whether you believe it or not, everything is (everything works) exactly the way it’s supposed to. Of course there are situations that really shouldn’t be, but that’s how it’s supposed to be. Meaning you have to be accepting to change, if you’re trying a certain way to do something and it’s not working it’s NOT because you are you, it’s because if you want to create a certain outcome or result, the way you are trying to do it just is not the way to do it, that’s not how it works. So this is why I disagree with people that are like “just throw shit at the wall n hope it sticks”, just a little bit of digging into the principles of whatever you’re tryna do you would’ve figured out that that shit wouldn’t have stuck without even throwing it. Keep in mind I said principles of how the game works, not everyone’s opinions of their perceptions of why it should work the way they think it should. I’m talking the core principles of how the shit really works.
Anyway, If you want to change anything in your life, think about it. You have to change who you ARE. Like if you wanna become rich, or fit, or great at a hobby or anything, any kind of change you want, you have to change yourself, you have to become the kind of person you want to be. Put it this way. A person that is a shitty fortnite player isn’t gonna win any matches regardless of how bad they may want it. They have to become a great fortnite player, (which does stem from the desire of wanting to win matches), then they’ll win matches. see what I’m getting at? But the person losing matches loses em because of WHO THEY ARE, BECAUSE they are a shitty player. But the dud who’s WINNING em, it’s cause he’s a good player, it’s cause of WHO HE IS. So basically, ultimately, who you ARE does create your life. Someone who doesn’t make a lot of money, can’t make a lot of money. They have to become someone that CAN make a lot of money, aka learning about money and how to earn a lot of it, and then they can make a lot of money. The way life works is fair, but shit still ain’t fair. Cause yea, shit works how it works regardless of who you are or how you might think it works, but still, you just got a bigass advantage over the next guy that didn’t just read all this shit and doesn’t know, right? Here’s the cold truth, “life”doesn’t want you to lose. But it doesn’t want you to win either. It doesn’t give a fuck whether you become the most successful person on earth or whether you get hit by a fuckin bus when you’re 7 years old. It doesn’t fuckin care. reality is how it is regardless of who you are, the game works how it works regardless of what you think, what you believe, or what you think you believe. U gotta get that, and also, the past is the past, live for the moment. Don’t like the moment? Change it, change yourself, change your life.
Good talk, peace and prosperity, stay woke.
      Spread this around?

@Intelligently Stoopid I think in the capitalist world we live in where everyone is selfish and self-centered, that one liner has relevance. When someone does a bad thing to you, you decide it's normal to do a bad thing to others because that's how others treat you... hence this statement is telling you to not follow such destructive behaviour.

    • @j.87558
      @j.87558 5 лет назад +43

@Intelligently Stoopid It's funny, you might be the person that's different here going against 239 likes as of now. Yes, it's somewhat a platitude but it's true in a way. However you expose a paradox I think! On the one hand we need difference to make a change in something that's stagnant or stays the same. On the other hand, we benefit in following a laid out structure of success. And being different can either trap you or make you stand out in a good way. It's hard to navigate.

I am 43. I have gone through most of my life with that attitude.
Unfortunately, experience has taught me that there are many cunts in the world who will abuse your kindness, understanding, and wish to cooperate.
After working for psychopath bosses, and with back-stabbing colleagues, I said no more.
A few people are kind, but the majority of people are selfish, amoral husks. I cannot tell the difference immediately, so the sane option is to act is they are cunts, until proven otherwise.

Hahaha. So first of all - what Gerhard Symons said. Second, that attitude won't get you far and won't make your life any easier. Nor will it change the people around you. You have your every right to be annoyed and angry at other people. That doesn't mean you should, but it also doesn't mean you can't.
Trust me I've tried this and do it from time to time and I've yet to see at least one time when that actually benefited me in any way.
Everybody has their own problems, man. You have yours, I have mine and if I don't know you and if I don't care about you, why would I even consider your problems before mine? I don't mean to sound like a douchebag but you should care about yourself first and if you do/did, you're probably not gonna run into trouble -> no need to be annoyed by others. Simple as that.

I recently had a huge realisation that everyone has a hidden story.
A few months ago, I went on a cruise. On cruises, people are generally very friendly and people of all ages and races talk to each other and make friends for the duration of the voyage. On the first night, I got talking to this lady who was more than 15 years older than me. She was really happy and bubbly people and we hit it off immediately. The banter between her and her sister, and the banter between them and me was amazing, they were constantly joking and funning and laughing. After more than an hour of talking to them, I left thinking "what amazing people, you never see anyone so happy and joyful in 2019! I wish I could be like them!"
The next day, I happened to run into her again. I noticed she had a very long scar on her arm. It turned out she had had a VERY nasty car accident just four months earlier, when another driver had jumped the lights and T-boned her. She almost died and was in intensive care for weeks, with many fractures and damaged organs. She was still in an awful lot of pain, and every day was a huge struggle for her physically and mentally. And not only this, she'd recently been divorced only a year ago. Just 2 months after her near-fatal car accident, and therefore just weeks before the cruise, her boyfriend died of a heart attack.
This lady who I once envied for being so happy, was actually going through the lowest level of HELL, and laughing and joking was her way of trying to cope with the immense physical and mental pain she was in. Every minute to her was a painful struggle not to lose the will to live. And I thought she was the happiest person I'd met in 2019.
Just goes to show, doesn't it?

We are mistaken for believing that we are the only ones suffering, believing that our metaphorical lawn is the only lawn that is full of dried up grass compared to others, which may seem to have a lawn that is full of green grass. In reality, others lives (the lives that seem better than our own) aren’t as green and bright as they really are, as in the end we (for the most part) all suffer equally as human beings, just in different ways. Basically, I just want to give a genuine thank you. Not one of those awkward ones you give to someone who holds the door open for you. A serious thank you. Why? I can’t describe it, but knowing I’m not the only person who has a hard time expressing what I truly mean, makes me feel not as suffocating. Thank you, and sorry I can’t explain well enough why and how you made an impact.

This breaks my heart. The other day I had to make a very difficult and life changing decision to give my 2 children up for adoption so that they could have the best life possible. They had gone through a lot of trauma through my ex and require a lot of one to one attention. I am pregnant, and having a new baby in the home would make them very unhappy.
On this particular day, I had saw them for the first time since giving them up. I had to say goodbye to them not knowing when my last goodbye could be. I walked to the bus stop on the rain, I was heavily pregnant and was very tired from being on my feet all day. I just wanted to be home.
All the seats in the bus shelter were taken up, and the bus was running late. I had been standing at the gate for half an hour but just as the bus pulled up I had to move because some man was blowing smoke in my face. As the gates opened there was a scramble to get on, and out of the blue some random woman shoved me away. I turned around and she started yelling at me because apparently some old lady was there before me. I calmly tried to explain that I was there ages before her but gave in as she didn’t stop shouting. I got on the bus and sat down, the old lady wasn’t bothered and sat down opposite me. But as the woman got on the bus she continued to yell insults on me, claiming I was on the wrong bus and directing me to one that went towards the lower end of town. I must’ve cried for half the journey, I was broken. Why was this woman being so horrible to me? Have I not already suffered enough? I just couldn’t understand why someone could be so inconsiderate. Eventually I stopped crying and I looked over to the old lady who sat opposite me, I noticed that her shopping bag was torn at the bottom and things were going to fall out once she stood up. I looked down at my own shopping, “I am a lot younger than her” I thought “and it would pain her more to have to bend over to pick things up than it would pain me to carry my items by hand”. So I proceeded to empty my bag and gave it so her, she was very grateful to receive my help. I just thought to myself, I won’t let that woman destroy me. No matter how broken I feel or how bad my day has been, there is always time to be kind to someone else. I could have stopped that old ladies day from going from bad to worse, and that bought me a lot of happiness knowing that I was better than the woman who had no consideration what so ever.

@@sophiegerbet8126 Here's how I like to see it. You should treat others with respect and kindness until they give you a clear and concise reason not to. Everyone deserves respect because they've done nothing wrong to you, and if someone obviously might not have known better, or they're just trying to live their life and they happen to get in the way, that's nothing you should get upset about. But, if someone is doing something with clear malicious intent, or for some reason they don't have the capacity to treat you with the same respect you're willing to treat them with, then they deserve contempt.

Being kind to everyone isn't necessarily a good thing. People who treat others poorly do not deserve kindness, as tolerance will only allow their self-centered behaviors to persist within society.
For the people who receive kindness in exchange for their self-centered ways, there are two likely outcomes: either they reflect on their actions and feel guilty about only thinking of themselves, or they take advantage of the kindness and believe it simply gives them permission to continue without changing their behavior. Which outcome happens depends on how conscientious the individual is.

I literally just almost bumped into a guy tonight, I was waiting for a traffic light at a T-junction and was in my mind reflecting on a sub-optimal performance at training today and didn’t realise an older man in his late 50s on his bike behind waiting to cross the other way. He said “Hello” which sounded more “Gtfo my way” and gave a death stare as he cross the road when I turned around and made space for him. For a moment I thought about how easily I could have just kicked him off his bike midway across the road and beat the life out of him for being so rude, when I realised there was no reason for me to even feel frustrated or affected by his inconsiderate behaviour towards me but rather he could have thought I was just as inconsiderate by blocking his path not knowing that I was unaware of his presence behind me. My uncle who was standing next to me observed the scenario and told me over our meal later that if he wanted he would have done something, but calmly shared with me that if someone does something bad to you and you don’t respond/receive it, it merelt echoes back to him. So just treat everyone like how you would treat yourself and life will go on anyway. Hope this resonates with you if you’re reading this, it will get better :-)

This was one of the few videos I've watched months ago when I subscribed. Watched it again, now that I'm binge watching this channel and is still one of the best videos about using logic and emotion, on RUclips. Of course there are terrible people out there, but everyone has a past, lives in the present and fears the future. Clearly shown here. The intertwined plots are so incredible well thought and pieced together, that gives me goosebumps every single time that I jump to another person. Every - single - time!!!
If I was a psychology, philosophy or teacher of social classes, I would show this video in the beginning and at the end of each school year to my class. Even youngsters could and should watch this! And leaving as much time needed of the class, to debate, discuss and discord this. At least I would try to no let my kids be another brick in the damned wall in their future...
You don't need to be a social influencer to pass your message. Though, everyone will ear, get and think about what you say, this video makes you feel and think afterwards, which will have a stronger abstract thought impact on the person. Art!
    Brilliant, PoW. Brilliant!!!
