There can be small amounts of blood there from the BM itself sometimes. I'm sorry you had to experience one of the worst things about the medical industry. It has happened to plenty of us. Medical tests are like that -- False positives can lead to more and more invasive and uncomfortable and dangerous tests (even surgeries) to "rule out serious disease." Then there is the anxiety and misery of thinking you have some terrible disease for weeks while their little game plays out.

Is there any evidence that a starch based or plant-based diet makes polyps go away? Not that I have seen. Only that vegans might have a lower incidence, but only 16% lower, not 100% lower, of colon cancer and much less of a chance of recurrence. It doesn’t mean you can’t get it. Polyps are considered precancerous and removing them is the treatment. I’ll take that any day over colon cancer which is a horrible disease.

@@sectionalsofa , It sounds like you have issues concerning the subject resulting from your own life or others around you. I would like to get a colonoscopy, however it’s too dangerous! I knew this before listening to this guy he just verified my concerns. If the colonoscopy is done correctly, there should be no problems. However you don’t know who’s gonna do it, you don’t know how they’re gonna do it, you don’t know who cleaned the instruments previously, you don’t know anything! You’re trusting a whole bunch of strangers with your very life. You think you haven't put your life in the hands of a stranger but you have: Dr. McDougall. He's just one doctor with his opinion based on faulty science and faulty math. Everything in life is a risk/ benefit scenario. Every time you cross the street or consume food of any kind, you've entrusted your life to strangers. The risk of being injured during a colonoscopy is not as great as the risk of getting into in an accident while driving in a car. The benefit of getting a colonoscopy is catching a precancerous polyp (which is quite common) and avoiding a deadly cancer.

Speak with a qualified gastroenterologist who will most likely advise you to get regular colonoscopies, and take what you hear on RUclips with a grain of salt. I'm a whole food plant based eater but Dr McDougall is wrong about a lot of things.

@@sl2608 I really like Dr. M, but here's an area where I'm concerned about his advice; he emphasizes starch, but doesn't emphasize other vegetables like greens. His logic is that many populations have lived on just a few main foods. With newer studies showing how beneficial it is to have a more diverse diet [with many different veggies and fruits] that seems to me the way to go. No disrespect.

What GI doctors also don’t discuss is that even after a PERFECT prep by the patient, if they don’t IMMEDIATELY perform a second screening, even the BEST GI doctors tend to miss a polyp up 6% of the time. Just multiply that error times the 10 - 20 colonoscopies he or she does in a day.

Recent LinkedIn post I saw, of emotional woman who lost husband in his 30s to colon cancer. She wanted to stress that his last recommendation to everyone would be to 'always have your colonoscopy, when offered'.
Its so sad. I wonder if (a) he'd have known about the likes of Dr M and the WFPB community early on, if he'd still be alive - we'll never know I guess - but (b) if she was at all aware of the risks, efficacy and medical profiteering around colonoscopy. Suspect not.
I respect totally the grief and sadness of her loss, but it's so sad that money and ignorance continue, in the wake of the outlier emotional examples like this dictating to the masses, and misdirecting most people sadly.
If I recall, her story had thousands of likes - might even have been over a hundred thousand... 😑

I am a 77 yr old female. Have had IBS-C since i was 5. Suffered my whole life. Brutal pain. In 2000 i got a really bad pain and went to my doc and he did an anal and there was blood so he sent me to the ER and admitted me. They did a colonoscopy and it was completely clear. Diagnosis was IBS as usual. Then in 2008 i had not pooped in 4 days so i did a suppository and it did nothing so i did another and still nothing so i did a Fleets enema and still nothing so i took a Laxative and a in a couple of hours i had the worst pain ever so my husband called an ambulance. I told the nurse all i did and was crying and screaming in pain. Then i started throwing up and it was neon green. Then i started pooping and it was all blood. The pain was unreal. I was scared to death. I kept pooping and it seemed like it was all blood. They gave me a pain killer which lasted about an hour. After i stopped pooping they gave me a Barium enemas which was not pleasant. The diagnosis was once again IBS but with Ulcerative Colitis. Then i started doing the Cologuard Tests and they were neg but then last yr it was Positive and i also did a FIT and it was Positive. So my doc sent me to a Gastro. She didn't even let me talk. She said i had to get a Colonoscopy and that's that. She was so cold and abrupt and wouldn't let me talk. It was very disturbing. So i told her i would think about it and never went back. She was since fired thank God. I know i would not be able to handle the bowel prep or the 24 hr fast. So i am in limbo and very scared. I loved your video and thanx much.

My husband (54 yr old) is now dying of colon cancer because he watched this video and the others like it by this doctor and did not get a colonoscopy for two years. His doctor talked him into it a few months ago and they found a mass. No symptoms. Blood test, cat scan, and upper endoscopy all showed nothing so they said surgery should be all he needed. The surgery revealed signet ring cell carcinoma metastasized to lymph and peritoneal lining. Stage 4. Incurable. Chemo can only prolong his life a couple of years. If he'd gotten the colonoscopy when his doctor first recommended it at 50, it could have been caught before it spread. I hold Dr. McDougal responsible. I'm going to be a widow in my 50s. This was preventable.
