Please don't stop this series. It's an amazing resource for getting new players to pick up and play Yugioh. The videos have great visuals and very descriptive explanations without having the video be too long where the viewer would lose interest. Great moves Cimo, keep it up.
Love this video. It made me realize im more of a noob than i thought. Ive played yugioh video games before and never knew that i couldnt special summon a fusion monster that was banished or in the grave if it wasnt properly fusion summoned first.
Lol I love your series started teaching my sister to duel yesterday and after showing her your videos she started improving already. You have definitely earned a sub
I recon you should have included a section for mask change but overall i love this series. I will be using these to help people understand yugioh. Thanks cimoooooooo
Trying to get back into yugioh, and I'm terrified by how complex the game has gotten since I was in middle school. These videos, along with playing an old GBA game I have- I'm hoping to slowly dip my toes back in. Currently in the process of putting a Toon deck together (and learning to use it 😅) excited to use these vids and other methods to hopefully get a hang of the game again. Thank you so much for the short vids, clear explanations, and no overly complicated drawn out wordy descriptions.
It could be a good idea to have mentioned cards that substitute themselves as fusion materials, I.E. Mystical Sheep #1 and King of the Swamp, because there are certain rulings that come up regarding those cards, as in certain fusion monsters with specific texts can't use fusion substitutes in the summoning requirements.
"Two Beautiful flowers with an insect-alluring fragrance. Now become one, And from the hell beneath your petals, Give birth to a new terror! *YUGO SHOUKAN*! Appear now, poisonous dragon, with hungering fangs! Level 8! - Starve Venom, Fusion Dragon!
Alex, riddle me this; How has youtube been around since 2005 and yet it took this long to get a legitimate series that perfectly explains a lot of the basic necessities required to play the game? Like really, man, this could really help a lot of people who are having a hard time getting into the game.
Thank you for posting your tutorial videos! :) In about an hour and a half, I finally learned how to play Yu Gi Oh with a few other videos and I have to say, Fusion is definetly my favorite way to summon. I was just wodering, what are some good Fusion-based decks? My friend suggested Fluffals since I love cute things but I'm not so sure.
There are 2 ways to revive a fusion monster in Yu-Gi-Oh is 1. Monster reborn which you already know that because you just explained it, 2. Fusion recovery which allows the person to recover Polymerization and one fusion material monster that was used for fusion summmon, from your graveyard to your hand, 3. De-fusion, 4. Re-fusion
Decks that people can use to practice or try these methods: Regular Polymerization: Lunalights Other Polymerization: Heroes, Shaddolls, Fluffal/Frightfur, Cyber Dragons Contact Fusion: Gladiator Beasts, Ritual Beasts, and ABC (I suggest that practice with other contact fusion decks before trying this one)
I'm not sure if you should've mention that the fusion materials for contact fusion do not need to be face-up on the field. For example, to contact fuse G.B. Gyzarus you need G.B. bestiari and another G.B. monster on the field. If you already have any other G.B. on field, you can set a bestiari face-down on the field, then reveal it to the opponent to proceed to contact fusion Gyzarus.
Dude thank you so much I had all these cards saying fusion which I dont have polermrazation and I'm like aw man but then I went to you you told me there's a thing called contact summoning thank you so much your the best 😁
I like to know, if is possible fusion summon a monster in face down defense position ?? and if can do the same with synchro summon a monster in face down defense position, thanks.
Juan Pablo Gamez Canales you can fusion summon with monster faced down but remember some fusion require the monster to be on the field to fusion summon and synchro and xyz require the monster to be faced up to be identified by levels or other categories for links to summoned.
I Activate Polymerization! I fuse Zombyra the dark and that skull thing, I fusion Summon! Appear! A Warrior from a different Dimension! You cant summon any monsters! *opponent: Scoops*
Cyber-stein is so powerful with its ability cheat out any fusion monster for the cost of 5000 life points that despite the steep cost of the ability, the card has been banned for a long time because that ability has just too powerful
Can be either unless the card says otherwise. The only example I can think of is Starving Venom Fusion Dragon, which only takes "on field" monsters. There are also some fringe cases where the fusion spell states where specifically. Fusion Substitute, for example, is just poly but only on the field. Hope this helps.
I have a question that I can't find the answer to anywhere. When someone's monster effect sends your monster that is a Fusion Monster into your hand how do you summon it again from your hand? Please help I'm so lost
So I assume XYZ Dragon Cannon(as an example) would be a contact fusion, then? Are all Machine type fusion monsters contact fusion’s, or is that a specific rule for certain ones?
A specific way to check for contact fusion is if the card says "you do not use "polymerization"". Contact fusion is mainly fusion without an effect activating/ causing the fusion summon (like fusion spells or monster effects that allow you to fusion summon) so it becomes similar to stuff like synchro or xyz summoning. A unofficial/ slang term for these summons that dont trigger by effect is "inherent summon". Hope this helps.
when u have shit ton fo fusion monsters and thier fusion material but own not even a single copy of poly ,feels bad man well atleast theres synchro summon that doesnt require much :D
So instead using polymerization card on some fusion monster liked Chimeratech dragons (Overdragon, Rampage dragon, Fortress dragon and Megafleet dragon.) then what about the other fusion spell card liked Overload Fusion, Cybernetic Fusion Support, Power Bond and Future Fusion. Do we have to use those spell cards on those typed of fusion monsters?
What does it mean when a card says for example: "1 Tuner + 1 + non-Tuner monsters". It's the +1 part I'm confused about, does it mean 1 tuner and 1 non tuner, or does it mean 1 tuner and 1 monster and 1 non tuner? I suppose it would say 2 tuners if it required 2.
So to break it down: 1 tuner (self explanatory, use only 1 tuner) + (self explanatory) 1+ non-tuners (meaning you have a choice to use 1 or more non tuners as long as all materials add up to the synchro monster's level) For example: you control a lv 1 tuner, 2 lv 1 non tuners, and 1 lv 2 non tuner. You are trying to synchro summon a lv 3 synchro with that clause. You have the option to use 1 tuner with 1 non tuner (lv 1 + lv 2) or 1 tuner with 2 non tuners (lv 1+ lv 1+ lv 1). Hope this helps.
This might be late but lets say your fusion monster is targeted by compulsory evacuation device which puts monster back in hand. Extra deck monsters like synchros, fusions, xyzs and links will go back to the extra deck instead.
thank you very much for these videos! they help a lot what happens if an effect states to put a monster from the GY to the main deck? could i choose a fusion monster and put if back into the extra deck?
What if I have for example, two blue eyes in my hand and one on the field, can I use both at once or do they all have to be in my hand or all on the field?
Does instant fusion or mask change need a special scenario? Or it is just satisfied by the cyber stein example except for the "This is treated as a Fusion Summon" stipulation?
Hong Khuu Using instant fusion is treated as a fusion summon, Mask change simply special summons a fusion monster, but it's not treated as a fusion summon.
DuelistKING it's a general thing. Sure, probably the novices will screw up via the certain rulings but hopefully (and I mean that) good locals can explain as to why and also for novices to be open minded and trust yugioh wikia.
BattleBeastsKing unfortunately it isn’t by nature of its requirements needing a fusion card and contact fusion requires monsters to be return to the deck to perform the fusion.
I have a question about some contact fusion cards, for example "Chimeratech Fortress Dragon" where the text vairy in that on one card it say ("You do not use "Polymerization" ) and the other version dosen't have this little qoute. Why is that? can I not play with the card that lack this detail?
Cards have different text because when they get a reprint, they update the wording of the card to make it have clearer effects/ less text/ updated rulings/ change in jargon, etc. You can play any version/errata of the card as long as both you and your opponent have a clear, up to date understanding of how the card works. For example, you can play pre-errata'd sangan as long as you know/ follow the current rulings of the post errata sangan. Hope this helps.
This might be late but if you're talking about monster reborn, then yes. It won't if the monster used as material wasn't properly summoned first. Like a synchro cheated out of the extra deck by a non-synchro summon method. Or a monster that says "must first be summoned by doing something first"
yes. they are all contact fusions are they not? that would mean if you meet the requirements of what you want to summon are on your field you can just keep going. same as with ranking up a Xyz monster like Utopia
So if I have polymerzation and the material are in the graveyard. I can't fusion summon??? But isn't the graveyard part of the field as clearly stated by the card
The "field" referenced by card text is the combination of each player's Monster Zones, Spell & Trap Zones, Pendulum Zones and Field Zones. Thus, the field is shared and each player controls only one side of it. From the wiki.
You send the monsters listed on the fusion monster from your field back into the deck and then summon your fusion monster. Read the fusion monster you’re trying to summon for more details.
a quick question you know how polymerization says it can fuses monsters in your hand say I have 1 blue eyes on the field and 2 blues eyes in hand do I still fuse them without them being on the field?
Okay so I have a question my buddy has a card it’s a link monster if he tributes 2 effect monsters he can summon it and then he can fusion summon a monster using monsters on his field does it have to be the monster listed on the fusion card material ?
This might be late but Im assuming hes using proxy f magician or verte anaconda. For proxy f, the materials have to be on the field. If its verte, just apply the fusion spell's effect sent by its effect. For both, whatever fusion monster you summon, you still have to meet the conditions to summon it. Lets say starving venom fusion dragon. You will still meed 2 dark monsters to fuse. Same with blue eyes ultimate. You still need the 3 blue eyes. Hope this helps.
I don't know anything past the original sereis season 3, can someone explain the Xyz and pendulam monsters. I'm so not familiar with this and want to catch up after these many years
If you’re referring to fusion cards in general try to have a good balance of those that work with the cards you’re using but don’t let it take priority over the Balance of your deck too many fusion spells will lead to too many inconvenient dead draws unless used properly like if you’re going to use three polymerizations keep it at that but add tech cards that can search and recycle them so you don’t have to worry too much about consistency using only one when you’re main source of offense is your fusions monster means you’ll rarely bring em out outside of alternative methods which can hinder your reaction speed in duels.
Question: So, I was looking at various prints of "polymerization." It looks like there are many different printings with different wording. What is the official ruling and can you run a copy with a different text?
You can play it. Different text means either: -Updated to modern terms aka "problem solving card text" or psct for short. -has an errata or changed effect. An example is sangan where they gave it a hard once per turn clause and a restriction. (For poly, it doesn't have an errata but wanted to point this out) Most recent poly is "Fusion Summon 1 Fusion Monster from your Extra Deck, using monsters from your hand or field as Fusion Material." (As long as both you and your opponent know how the most updated ruling/ text work, its fine to play older copies of cards) Hope this helps.
@@ghostsisterspookydogwood4360 This really helped, I'm really enjoying Yugioh but there is certainly a learning curve. Thank you for going into detail and explaining this to me.
@@ghostsisterspookydogwood4360 Sorry to take advantage, but I am having trouble finding the answer to this question: what does "+1 +" mean? for example, Alba Lenatus states that it requires 1 fallen of albaz +1 + dragon monsters as fusion material. Does this mean that I must use one fallen of albaz plus at least 1 dragon monster (but can use more if I so wish?)
@@Bravco509 Yes. In that scenario, 1+ means you can use just 1 material or more than 1 material. It gives you flexibility. Another card example on top of my head is Number 75 Bamboozling Gossip Shadow which takes 2+ level 3 monsters. Aka 2 or more level 3s. Chineratech archtype is also an example of fusions that use 1+.
hey, cimo, I havent played yugioh ever since the first gen yugioh came out. when second gen came out i stoped playing the game and got rid of my cards. now im trying to get back into the game and i even got about 200 cards now, but making a decent deck is a little harder than it was before. thats where i need help from you, cimo. i hope you can make a vid about makeing a proper deck.
One question... can you use something like “monster reborn” on a card like “Chimertech overdragon” which gains 1000 ATK for each machine monster sent to the graveyard (fusion materials...“cyber dragon” + 1+ machine monster(s)) and if you can would it have the same ATK as the first time you summoned it or would you have to send the material to the grave yard again to get its ATK back?

If you use a pendulum deck the pendulum reborn is a musthave
I don't know anything past the original sereis season 3, can someone explain the Xyz and pendulam monsters. I'm so not familiar with this and want to catch up after these many years
Cimo will be going in depth into those summoning mechanics as well as he did here with fusion summoning.
Braincain007 What Yugimation said.
Can i use spell card "metamorphosis" to summon "e-hero phoenex enforcer" or " cyber twin dragon"
Yes, but not in tournament play, seeing as Metamorphosis is a banned card.
You forgot Dark Fusion. It could could as one of the traditional fusion summon.
The purpose is to explain the mechanics of Fusion Summoning. I don't need to discuss every single fusion spell in the game, lol.
Cimoooooooo Yep ok.
Explain d/d swirl slime
komujimaru From what I understand, d/d swirl slim can be used as a substitute for one d/d fusion monster material.
How many polymerisation cards should be in my deck ?
You can only have up to 3 copies of any card in your deck.
@@dayvonlouis5187 thanks.
what does shuffle the above cards mean???
Arnold Galang return them to the deck of origin then shuffle.
Question: So, I was looking at various prints of "polymerization." It looks like there are many different printings with different wording. What is the official ruling and can you run a copy with a different text?
You can play it. Different text means either:
-Updated to modern terms aka "problem solving card text" or psct for short.
-has an errata or changed effect. An example is sangan where they gave it a hard once per turn clause and a restriction. (For poly, it doesn't have an errata but wanted to point this out)
Most recent poly is "Fusion Summon 1 Fusion Monster from your Extra Deck, using monsters from your hand or field as Fusion Material."
(As long as both you and your opponent know how the most updated ruling/ text work, its fine to play older copies of cards)
Hope this helps.
@@ghostsisterspookydogwood4360 You've been really helpful (you should make RUclips videos!) thank you.
hey, cimo, I havent played yugioh ever since the first gen yugioh came out. when second gen came out i stoped playing the game and got rid of my cards. now im trying to get back into the game and i even got about 200 cards now, but making a decent deck is a little harder than it was before. thats where i need help from you, cimo. i hope you can make a vid about makeing a proper deck.
I'll get to that eventually, but that will be much later after we cover all of the basics.
Thanks man. Much appreciated
can you attack with fusion somun monster after special somun?
kid bcs Yes.
when i fusion in yu gi oh I just take my extra deck and pull it out of there?
Yes. If you perform a fusion summon, you get the fusion monster from the extra deck.
August’s Music you’ll have to fusion summon them again to get the attack gain but the attack gained will only be for the materials of that summoning.
If the fusion material is face down can i still fuse
ShyB123 Yes
