- This is a test of new settings to unlock the framerate of Dirt 3 on a real Xbox 360. It's the Michigan rally in the evening sun. Compared to my previous videos about this game, I've found a setting that unlock but shows less tearing effect. Furthermore, as always happens, commands become more responsive when unlocked.
Even if it's not 60 fps (only the first person view is close to them) I can assure it's way better, in terms of framerate and playabilty. Give it a chance.
To have the maximum framerate DISABLE THE WHOLE HUDD.
To get the unlocked framerate you have to:
1. You need a RGH modded Xbox 360 (actually, I haven't tried on a retail Xbox 360 with this game installed. Perhaps with software like Horizon it should be possibile insert the modded xex, but I don't suggest it because with unlocked framerate the GPU temperature rises).
2. Take the defaul.xex in your Dirt 3 folder on the xbox 360, copy and paste it in your PC to uncompress/decrypt it with xextool (follow my tutorial for the decrypting/uncompressing part, here • Xbox 360 - Tutorial: ... )
3. Open the decrypted/uncompressed file in HxD
4. Search for this location (CTRL+G):
630D70 (82634d70 in absolute values) and change 81 7f 36 30 to 39 60 00 03
5E3E70 (825e7e70 in absolute values) and change c0 23 04 fc to 60 00 00 00
NOTE: if you don't find it, be sure you have selected "hexadecimal values" in the research window and you don't have a title updated (TU) game or another region game (ex. PAL/NTSC or Media ID). In that case try to search for these values. The string to change is the first:

5. Save the file as you prefer (eg. Dirt3_unlocked.xex)
6. Copy this file in your folder on the Xbox 360, then start it by file manager or rename in default.xex (after renamed the original one) to start it from the cover in your dashboard

I can assure Dirt 3 it's another game when unlocked, don't judge it only by the framerate (as for Dirt 2 unlocked). The increased playability due to the more responsive commands is very impressive. Give it a try.
I would like to suggest a classic. It started as a PC exclusive and around 2006 came out on XBox 360 and to Playstation 3.
are you interested in unlocking F.E.A.R?
I know it very well, because I wrote a review in 2007 of that game for an on-line magazine (my first and last review ever). I've never loved the game too much. Anyway, I've already tried with several settings. I'm not totally satisfied. It runs smoother but it's a bit jerky sometimes. I think i'll upload a video soon. Thanks for the comment.
@@xbox360forever3 I know F.E.A.R 2 seems to have an autoexec.cfg file so you can unlock from there if you know the commands. I only know some commands for the Crysis games based on CryEngine 3 and can unlock the 3 Crysis on PS3. I'm going to check the autoexecs for Crysis 2 and Crysis 3.
I tried Crysis 1 and the fps command worked but the vsync command didn't.

@@xbox360forever3 these are the 2 commands. I'm not sure if the r_VSync command will work since it didn't work on my console
r_VSync 0 (it doesn't seem to work in Crysis 1 and 2 on PS3, it's possible that it will not work on 3)
sys_maxFPS 120 (works on the 3 games on PS3 but since I can't disable v-sync, the game caps at 60fps that is half the value I chose)
Seems that the digital versions recognize the autoexec but the disk version does not, I don't know why.
So you can do this to any game?
Unfortunately, not. I've tried almost all the Xbox 360 games, included GTA4 and 5, these two without success.
