  • Going through many of the Star Wars ships from prominent media (especially the original trilogy and prequel trilogy movies) to show just how big they really are.
    Additional note: The Vulture droid length used is one from multiple sourcebooks, though direct movie scaling is closer to 6.5ish meters.

      It have wrong size in sources, but for some reason haven't been rescaled for 20+ years. I guess maximalists and frame-scallers are interested only in SSDs. Look at the opening scenes of TPM where it stands next to B1 and is about 5 times higher. It has to be 8m at least. Would scale better with buzz droid rockets if we assume tri-fighter had the s\ame ordnance in RotS. I've their models just above my head and it's impossible to fit them on vulture.

    My headcanon RE: MC80 Home One - Home One itself is a larger model and "prototype" of the MC80 subclass. The later "production run" would opt for a smaller size for various reasons (simplifying the construction process to speed it up as it was lagging behind the smaller Liberty-type, ease of maintenance, mobility especially when in formation with other Rebel assets that tended to be smaller, not needing the extra space Home One utilizes as the mobile fleet command ship of the entire Rebellion, throwing off Imperial reporting and intelligence by having two different sizes of ship with the same overall design, etc.)
    I also like the thought of Home One and Independence being the same ship, with Home One acting as an "official" codename, even if that isn't the case in either continuity.

    • @antonisauren8998
      @antonisauren8998 11 месяцев назад

      Well, there were not such thing as production run, as they were all converted passenger liners. Just worked with what Calamarians had to offer. Same designation is hard to explain. Maybe it's related to year of introduction, as every Calamari ship is supposed to be individual piece and there would not be a class per se.

    • @TimberWolf99
      @TimberWolf99 11 месяцев назад

      @@antonisauren8998 Every single one being a converted passenger liner with no new ones being built until after Endor has never made sense to me, even without the "every ship is a unique snowflake" detail being heavily disproven even in their debut (where there are multiple Home One, Liberty, and Wingless Liberty models in the fleet). At the bare minimum you'd need new ships to replace battle losses, and that'd be a patently absurd number of luxury passenger liners.

    • @TimberWolf99

      @@papapalps2415 Simple answer: Nautilian, the Home One-type destroyed in RotJ. When it's shown (and destroyed by the Death Star's superlaser) it doesn't appear to be much larger than the Liberty when it was destroyed. Meanwhile, Home One is not only directly scaled against the fighter/Millennium Falcon models (and the hangar deck set), but has a narrative reason to be larger. It's a bit of a leap and a bit wonky with the entirety of RotJ, but RotJ itself has wonky scaling all over the place and making logical sense is going to require ignoring or twisting some facts to make it all fit, especially when there is 0 actual lore basis for a theory.

    • @TimberWolf99
      @TimberWolf99 11 месяцев назад

      @@papapalps2415 Personally I would prefer if it was an actual named Wingless Liberty (so said subclass could instead be called Nautilian-type), but Legends identified the second RotJ superlaser casualty as a Home One-type and Canon identified that ship as Nautilian so it's the best I have to use as an actual identifiable example.
      If I were to try and write a canonical guidebook/timeline of Mon Calamari ship production (at least in Legends), I'd probably make Nautilian the basis for the "Wingless Liberty" subclass and have another Legends ID'd Home One type (likely Defiance, with Independence being merged with Home One as HO's "real" name and Home One acting as a codename) be the first of the smaller "production model" Home One-types.

    MC80 wingless is cca 1200 meters, and Home One is cca 150% of these construction , 1800 meters ( twice longer than Victory class SD; galactic voyage also gave 1800m), in Ahsoka this proportion is visible; Liberty is between them 1400m ;

    Executor was actually around 13.8km or 8.75 miles (roughly eight and three quarter times the length of an ISD class II). Why 19km was settled on I'll never know as the smaller number seems more "realistic" and just makes the Eclipse sound much more awesome when the passage "ten miles from stem to stern" is read.
    Personally, I would've settled for Vader's flagship being five times the size of an ISD II with the Emperor's twice the size of that, but that's just me.

    Vulture Droid size is wrong, try again. 3.5m is the length in WALKING mode, _not_ in flight mode. This has long since been clarified and is even officially spelled out now, with reference material also listing the *actual* in-flight length of 6.3m
    Everybody who treated 3.5m as the flight mode length is a lazy idiot (especially if they did so after the CGI Clone Wars show hammered in the correct size), and so is whoever listed only _one_ length for a droid with two geometrically distinct modes.
    Both the concept art _and_ shots of Vulture Droids in walking mode in the hangar in Episode I make it clear that 3.5m can't POSSIBLY be the flight mode length because if 3.5m was the flight mode length, then they wouldn't even be twice as tall as battle droids in walking mode. Yet both the movie and the concept art show walking mode Vulture Droids to be a little over THREE times as tall as battle droids.
    Continuing to make the "3.5m is the flight mode length" mistake all these years later, even after the CGI Clone Wars series emphasized the correct size and even with the correct in-flight length officially listed... is unacceptable.
    Private this until you fix your mistake.
