Agreed. With the right team fleshing the story out I think it could be great. What little story we get from the cinematics in the game, especially before the fight with Yang, are intriguing.
I honestly think, that this is a test show. I mean, nobody had been brave enough to invest in so many IPs and make an Anthology. I mean, the closest we got was Love, Death +Robots, and that was started as a fun project for 3D artists. I think that, whichever episodes fans respond best to, have the potential to be turned into full blown shows. This will truly be up to the fans to decide what gets more content and what doesn’t.
It's not, it was paid for by the companies as an advertisement for their games. Amazon produced the show, hence the New World episode. Concord, God of War and Ghost of Tsushima are all paid for by Sony. Warhammer just has a game that came out, Armored Core had a game that came out last year, Outer Worlds 2 just announced a game for next year, Honor of Kings was just released worldwide this year, Crossfire had a massive Chinese TV series a few years ago. The others could just be for classics sake Pac-Man, Unreal Tournament, Mega Man and Spelunky are all bonafide classics. I doubt this gets a season 2.
@ SIFU is an outlier tho. It’s not specific to any console (although it came first on PlayStation, it then went to Xbox, Switch and PC), so it’s not trying to advertise that part specifically. The game released in 2022 and got a DLC in 2023 and no word from it since and no sign of a DLC either, so I don’t think it was advertising the game itself (I also don’t think that because the game was already a big hit when it came out). I don’t DISAGREE that the show is kind of a big ad, but I do disagree that it won’t have a 2nd season because episodes like the SIFU one tell me that the animators or team behind the show’s production actually like/love this kind of stuff and aren’t doing it JUST as a big advertisement. They might be willing to make more episodes that pay homages to other games that the show couldn’t get in this season.

Thats big facts lol. Sometimes i think that the NPCs are people who died in real life and their “hell” is to constantly fight the same “guy” and get killed by him over and over for all eternity
A big thing about the NPCs is that they are just NPCs. They are evil by choice unlike the bosses we fight. The npcs are irredeemable and would just flock to the next evil person to serve if their current master was taken down. Only the bosses are redeemable as theyve been led astray and arent inherently evil. @drizzycaba8129
Exactly, it allows you to take media to a realm that live action just limits and restricts and locks away, live action can’t compare at all when it comes to truly breaking the limits of how to represent the media itself. Shows like mob psycho and evangelion showcase this perfectly
Every medium has its strengths and weaknesses. Animation definitely suits this better than live action for the show's intended purpose, but with the right team of artists, live action could do Sifu justice as well. Movies like Old Boy, John Wick, The Matrix, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, and just about any Jackie Chan or Jet Li movie all inspired Sifu to begin with. Every medium has strengths and weaknesses, but the right team of artists can showcase or even break the limitations of whatever medium they're working in to bring a story to life in ways we haven't seen before or otherwise. I'm primarily hyped for the God of War short, but I'm looking forward to Sifu and Warhammer 40K@@D4rkStarGaming
@@josephk6214 I disagree that live action could do this show justice but I agree with everything else your saying. A lot of sifus personality comes from its artsyle and the way they use it to portray the world, powers, and concepts in the game. the world building is emprecccable in sifu and that's just not possible without its artistic direction. Taht being said live action can achieve things that animation struggles with as well and while I personally prefer animation most of my favourite movies are live action because their are some truly exceptional pieces of art out there.
Its strength for me is mainly that I immerse myself easier and that it leaves more room for imagination. My struggle with live action is that sometimes I struggle with differentiating the actors and seeing the character. You can also tell sometimes in action scenes when a punch is "faked" (obviously, actors aren't punching the snot out of eachother for real). Not to say it doesn't have its advantages, like physical acting or improve, but I have my preferences.
@@josephk6214 yeah im not gonna discredit the amazing non-animated action films that have come before, but this short (and other amazing adult animation like Arcane and Blue Eye Samurai) reminded me of things that animation could do better than live action, which pretty much boils down to facial acting and genuine damage on the characters. I think The Raid has some of the best action scenes my eyes have ever witnessed, but sometimes I wish I could see more emotion in the character's face, y'know? Or I'll watch a fight scene from John Wick and notice a punch that doesn't *quite* make contact with the other stuntperson, whereas animation could have a fist squish completely into a face. Basically, I'm saying that live action has had time and time again to prove to an audience how well it could do violent action, but brutal animated action is only recently starting to pick up with a Western audience. And I'm totally ready to see more creativity in animated fight scenes (especially 3d animation, 2d anime has also had a long time to stew, but there's not as much mature 3d animation out there)
I'd love some more expressive facial animations (especially when throwing strikes and getting hit) for the player and the enemies. I feel like so many games skip this detail.
