Competing and entering more tournies is key. Nephew, Chris, NTP, Nuckledu, Punk all enter tournaments regularly. Can't beat familiarity, practice and habit.

@@hiagocostaaniceto8867 a lot of people change up a bit in tourneys. Speaking from personal experience, my friend would absolutely destroy me in sets back in sfv, then we had back to back local tourneys for summer and dude did not take a single set from me.

He made fun of punk when he won Evo on his stream that's where this is coming from in part.
Snake Eyez made fun of Punk for crying after winning EVO, and now people are against him because of that. I think what he said was a little out of line but I also find it extremely hypocritical of Punk to get mad at someone for talking shit considering I can't think of a single person that's talked more shit in the Street Fighter scene than Punk.
Snake also said Punk was "scared to fight him" which is stupid, I doubt many pro players are scared to fight one another in general, they're all at the top of their game after all

@PuraCaseus in what way gief isn't top tier? He 3 taps characters while keeping most of his resources. He can force you into burn out with his now buffed headbutt, all while forcing you to guess. That's just copium that you're not doing well with a clearly s tier pick.
@@exshadowkick5564 Because he generally loses half of his health trying to get to you. All his pokes have very long recovery and is easy to whiff punish, and drive impact against. His longest cancelable move is his light kick, which is still shorter than pretty much every other characters longest cancelable move.
Half of the cast can easily bully him.
Once he manages to get in, then yeah he's insanely scary. He's mid tier at best, simply due to matchups.
Also, not a single gief in top 24 in the latest big tournament. Speaks for itself. If he was top tier, you could be damn sure everyone would use him or atleast have him as a pocket pick.

Since the games iteration zangief hasn't dominated any region... kobayan is on a recent streak, and that's only in Japan, no where else in any country is zangief dominated or even consistently placing top 5 in any tournament so how is he number 1?

Peoplw saying zangief is top 5 is crazy. Zangief is not better than luke, guile, dee jay, cammy, akuma, bison, blanka, ken, Jp, juri, rashid and arguly chun li is better than gief..... the only tournamenr zangief placed high in was topanga recently, and maybe 2 majors with Ramsey.
All the top zangiefs arent performing well, or they dropped him entirely besides Kobayan and before topanga, he never won no where near as many tourmaments as Luke, Cammy, Ken, Dee jay, Jp, Chun li, shiiiz even Ryu, Aki, and Lily have consistently placed higher in tourmaments than zangief.
He is best version of himself in current game but to say he is top 5 is laughable or trollable lol

Burnout is punishing just not really for this matchup. Luke has good tools for burnout and Zangief is bad at getting in at mid screen. If this were Cammy or maybe a charge character Gief would be more scary here.

I love this set it’s captures how nonsensical this game is. One guy is playing spacing footsies whiff punishes correctly the other is doing random drive rushes, mashing literally always almost in burnout, fishing for a crouch medium drive rush combo but yet, he’s still competition, and won too lol. The Luke player did good though and got the W, but just really access the game, it’s just plain dumb. Drive rush is ass.
