I have a HD-9SWX and I love it. It's perfect for storing my 1998 Toyota Camry.

Can you speak to the capacity reduction based on wheelbase? I need to store 2 cars that have a 105" wheelbase and each weighs 3300 pounds. The way I read the specs that is over capacity based on wheelbase.

Absolutely. Four-post lifts are designed to distribute weight down the columns. When the load is shorter and the weight more centered on the lift's runways, the load isn't taking full advantage of the strength of the columns and then relies more heavily on the runways themselves. Now, the runways are still very robust steel structures, but due to the displacement of the weight the capacity does come down as the center of gravity moves in from the columns. In your situation, it would depend on which lift you're looking at. The standard HD-9SW at 75% Capacity would be rated to 6,750 pounds. Split between the two platforms, that would be 3,375 pounds per platform which would support your vehicles at 3300 pounds. Additionally, the Minimum wheelbase for the HD-9SW at 75% capacity is 100" so at 105" your vehicles would meet the specification. If you were looking at the HD-9SWX model, then you would be out of spec due to the SWX model featuring longer runways and therefore losing more capacity as wheelbases, or center of gravity, move toward the center of the runways.

@@BendPak I have to have the HD-9SWX for the height. What if I put a 105" wheelbase car @ 3300 pounds on one side and a 90" wheelbase @ 2300 pounds on the other side? It seems not many people are looking at the capacity reduction based on wheelbase. I see tons of people with 2 sub 100" 3500 pound Porsches on the HD-9SWX. Thanks

Unfortunately that would be out of spec per the manual and we would not be able to recommend that specific usage. We do have another lift that may work for you as it has an increased overall capacity: www.bendpak.com/car-lifts/parking-lifts/pl-12000dp/. Otherwise, you can always check out some of the forums for solutions on 4-post load balancing.
