Unity is the key . Those nations are united ,that is why they are so effective. Divided you will always remain conquered. A debtor becomes a slave to the lender ....
Loans, projects, contracts etc are deals. Even if some seem at first to favor one party over the other. For centuries others just came and took. No money was given.
There should not be any attempt to shift the blame here! It should be 'How Africa failed to build infrastructure under the West'! We all know about the 'interferences' and 'feet-dragging' but what did we Africans learn from this? Now we want to apply the same 'formula' and 'mentality' we used when dealing with China, which wants to see us really move forward!
For me, i see this as a fair business deal if not for corrupt leaders. Nobody gives you anything without a price. You'll have to negotiate and span vastly to see how good it is on the long run. Politicians in africa just run the countries like mines to get your own share as fast as possible. If this country were to be their companies, they wouldn't run it the same way. Stopping business with the chinese is not the way forward, but looking totally into these contracts helps for better decisions. So the large part of the blame goes to african countries .
Agreed! These loans, no matter how expensive, seem to be the only way for Africa to get these much needed infrastructure. Problem then is the corruption, lack of transparency and poor oversight.
