4 - 2008 Revisit - Settling into our new home and village life

We were invited to participate in a Bulgarian television series called Takuv E Zhivotut - The New Bulgarians in 2007, a series about life in Bulgaria and this particular series was focused on foreigners who had chosen Bulgaria as their home.
In 2008 the series makers made a second series revisiting some of the people who participated in the first series; this is our story.
Special thanks to all those who took part, and also to Super Nova Media for such an amazing series which we thoroughly enjoyed taking part in.

Okay, I envy you with those balcony and mountain views! I love watching Brit (new Bulgarians) videos and makes me so happy you chose our country. That savage UK humour lol. Welcome to BG guys! Your point about the EU coming and changing things is sadly so terribly true. I hope it does not reach Bulgaria yet because we will lose our identity and very long history. The EU has very good advantages, but also very bad ones. It became too political when it is supposed to be an Economical Union and defending the rights of its citizens and not obsessed with a strange suicidal agenda. I have a close friend from Hungary and we speak about this all the time. I am also watching very regulary UK and Ireland news and makes me so sad things change so fast there :(
Anyway, have a great life in your new GB or BG hahahah :D :D

I hope also that the EU does not have a negative effect on Bulgaria, although the UK not being in the EU is not so good either lol, but that's another story.

I just read your reply about your backboiler issues on the fantastic ‘Phoenix Project’ channel, and so I checked out your channel and your videos are great - you captured everything I love about BG! I bought a house 20 years ago and started renovating a few years back but had to come back to UK to top up the bank account - I have an online job now so planning to get back there asap and finish my renovations and start on my garden - looking forward to more of your videos from the past and hope to meet you in BG one day soon😊

You definitely bought at the right time and that's great that you have online work so can work anywhere - I am hoping to find something like that too. We started the channel some years ago just to share with family, but have been enjoying so many other 'vloggers' experiences that we felt inspired and wanted to share our lives in Bulgaria too. I just bought a property in Oresh near Svishtov up north near the Romanian border,but wish I had bought nearer the coast down south because I hear the weather is better. Where abouts are you from in the UK and where abouts are you in BG ?

Congrats on your Bulgarian property! It can be pretty hot down south in the summer so I bet it's more comfortable up north then. Have you stayed in your property yet or just literally purchased it?
We're originally from sunny Devon and have lived in both Yambol and Stara Zagora, Bulgaria.

Thanks. No I haven't actually stayed in the property yet. I bought it by using a power of attorney to complete the sale in my absence. The property needs a fair bit of work doing to it too, but I cant find an architect to do the work. I wouldn't mind doing it myself, but I hear that applying for planning permission can be a nightmare.@@NewBulgarians

Unfortunately, we don't have any experience of planning permission, it can be time consuming though I know that much. If you stay within the footings of the building there isn't too much of an issue. We used builders for our projects rather than an architect so can't help with that either, sorry. But good luck to you when you do get to stay in your Bulgarian home.@@VWApachey
