- Finding a life partner can be very difficult if dating is not an option. Many young Muslims want to avoid arranged marriages but cannot go on dates because they believe it is forbidden.
Now, in some of the most conservative Muslim communities in Britain and the Middle East, traditional matchmaking has entered the digital age.
In this film, we meet Muslims using "halal dating apps", as well as app and platform developers.
In these spaces, clients select their potential partners before they meet them, without crossing religious red lines. Some succeed, others fail, and some oppose the trend altogether. But for some single Muslims, swiping right can be a whole new way of finding love.

@@endoferagoat2393his is true. I've asked some guys and girls I know IRL and on Reddit. I even did an experiment. Most guys average guys get 1 like in months and usually 5 profile views a day. Shocking tbh. Girls get anywhere between 10-30 likes a day, so obviously a 3/10 will think she's a 9/10.
Conclusion: most men are simps and desperate, whereas most women can't find the 'right' one like the green scarf women despite having more choice than ever. These 'unserious' guys they speak of are guys way above their league who realize they can do better.
exactly this, went on the app and i was shocked to have withnessed more so people who are divorced,with kids but dont tell u, people who have 4 diffrent profiles on it. People who dont know how to treat women,rude ones, just on it for a prank. Scammers on it who are not the picture nor wont show them despite many convo's. after 4 years now i have put it away. Cuz it only messed me up more so mentally. And ofcourse good for those who did match. not everyone so lucky i guess ill die single.

I'm not an Andrew T*te fan. I'm too old to be one lol. But I'm so glad I wasn't born 15 years earlier otherwise I'd probably sympathise with some of his views. He's a symptom of the problems we see here (men struggling). These dating apps give women massive ego boosts and men having more luck finding water in a desert (unless you look like a model). In my view, it is not good for men and women to choose their life patterns on dating apps. It's better to know the person you want to marry in person, and it would help you examine his/her personality. But if you met your couple on date apps, you definitely do not have confidence that you can analyze or make a better decision.
you make it seem like people who meet on the apps will get married immediately. but I think they will meet later in person and get to know each other and their families.
As a minority group it is almost IMPOSSIBLE to meet up or run into someone of the same religion in small town.

I'm a Christian woman and by chance met a Muslim Moroccan man online (not a dating app though). We were on a political forum online, and got talking. Then we exchanged numbers and we're like old friends we get on very well and have alot in common. He wasn't looking for anything romantic nor was I. But he felt allah had blessed him😁I'm the same age as him, never been married, no children and I'm a virgin. The dude was beside himself with joy. Unfortunately he's done haram things in his teens and 20s e.g. Sex before marriage. But he was honest with me about it and didn't lie. His parents wrongly assume he was looking for a wife. When he told them about me they were like "Oh! He's ready to settle down so he went to look for a wife and found this one" . But he wasn't looking for a wife. He was just fortunate to find a woman he's very compatible with. He doesn't want his own Muslimas (Muslim women) and to be fair they don't want him either😂 They look down on him. He keeps a dog 🐕 and the dog is like his child. And women who are not from his religion reject him because he is a Muslim. The minute they find out he's Muslim they ditch him or never reply to his messages. So dating apps are a waste of time for him. I adore him but want a Christian man. I'm sure one day my friend will find his dream woman but I think a Muslima would be right for him. Same religion so they won't disagree on religion.

Excellent documentary! Nice to see Al Jazeera putting out things like this. Would have been great if there was another resource person aside from the marriage counsellor. The young RUclipsr is a bit full of herself, "what do you bring to the table?" - she declares her whole outlook to life succinctly, with the mentality that her law degree is a hard standard to match. I can only imagine her world view in 25 years, when she learns (hopefully, but unlikely) that ambition is no match for kindness - will your partner care for you if you get paralyzed or sick? If you give birth to a child with a disability, will a law degree or compassion be useful? In any case, her narcissism was balanced by the relections of others interviewed. We are all looking for a good life so its very encouraging that technology is being developed this way.

I'm not from Saudi but in my country (Turkey) being white is more desirable. The origin of this is probably the inferiority complex those people have. Since white people dominate the world, in their eyes they are the greatest race (subconsciously). The more commonalities you have with them the better it is. Even though India for example is not a Muslim country it's the same there. This is however not what Islam preaches.
Prophet Muhammad pbuh said: "O people, verily your Lord is One and your father is one. Verily there is no superiority of an Arab over a non-Arab or of a non-Arab over an Arab, or of a red man over a black man, or of a black man over a red man, except in terms of taqwa (fear of god). Have I conveyed the message?”
One could argue that people desire in their partner what they also like about themselves but in the middle east it's mostly that people with pale skin usually prefer people with pale skin and people with darker skin also prefer people with pale skin. With the blacks it's mostly different, there black people mostly want black spouses. Maybe it doesn't make sense to search for logic in this behavior but it's an interesting observation anyway

you see, independacy is equal to not wanting to a make compromisses. but in a marriage, there are always compromisses requiered from both sides.
in Islam the man have to (no choice) work and provide for the family, when the wife wants to work, she can work (but she dont need to) and the man is technically not even allowed to use her job-income as his 😅
But Family and Children come first, there is no more important job than beeing a wife, a mother and the foundation of the family.
