Man dude, soooo glad I waited for this. I enjoyed your IceUp reviews, however, this is made in the USA and has more benefits imo. Ordered a few weeks ago. Hopefully it gets here soon!
Ordered the 300 just now. I was sold on the insulation aspect and the pre-made chiller connections. Living in the swamp that is Houston, I've had a difficult time getting the temp low enough with the 1/2 HP chiller, but I feel like I'm committed to it so hoping insulation will be a game changer. Hope you can put out a video on setting up the chiller to this before it arrives :) I would love hooking up an external pump just so I don't have that hanging around at my feet if that's in the works as well. Thanks.
Thank you for this video! Just subbed to the channel. Can you please show us how you will keep the water clean for as long as possible in this thing. I’m a complete novice and just purchased the 300. Can you connect a filter to this without a chiller. Submersible pump?
The question I have is, which one you prefer the 400 or the 300? I kinda like that you are more in a stand up position in the 400. What icebarrell needs to do is the 400 isolated. with 1' holes; that would be the killer. And I would buy it.
Hey great review, I had a question about the lid. I use a ice bath on a patio with high winds, I’ve lost 2 inflatable lids and wondering how secure the lid fits and how heavy it is. Thanks
I just weighed it and its about 15 lbs, fits securely onto the barrel with almost no gap and has a fitting so it is extremely secure. I dont see this blowing off easily
@DavidMausJr, can you provide some internal dimensions on the IB300? Specifically looking for the internal top and bottom diameters (ie. width) and the internal depth. Also curious about the hieght of the "seat" and armrests. Thank you in advance.
Do I need everything on the Amazon store page if I will be installing the 1.5HP on the 300? I’m confused to what else i will need. I have the 1.5hp chiller just waiting for the 300.
Nice! Yes. That kit should get you connected. The only other piece i have to verify is the piece that screws into the 300 itself. Just got in the mail today so i will run over and test. Update shortly!
I'm curious how good the insulation is for a number of the cold plunges. Are any of them good enough that they don't sweat in the summer with the heat and the humidity?
Could you post how the water temperature for the 300 changes every day. You said it got down to around 40 initially. Curious low long it stays cold with the insulation.
What is the name of the filter you use? And how long a cold water stay cold ? I mean if we add the ice and do the session how long the water still good ?
It’s just an in-line strainer from Amazon. Links in this video description. Depending on the ambient temp around the barrel it could last days cold with just ice. The insulation works great!
How long does water stay cold for in the new barrel after using one batch of ice like you did? 24 hours, 48h? I'd love to see a time breakdown of outside temperature vs water in the barrel temperature over time. I'm stoked!
I am wondering the same. Currently can't afford a chiller, and I am trying to choose between an inflatable plunge (like the Iceup) or the 300. Could you do a test to see which keeps the water colder for longer? It would be exactly what I need to make a decision. Love your videos.
A 100 gallon 4x2x2 stock tank is a 100 bucks at the local tractor store. Might be a way to save a some money. I ended up insulating mine and getting a cover for it on Amazon it added another 200 bucks to the price. So I'm in about 300. Did purchase a chiller from iced up as I like the fact it has the ozone sanitizer pump and filter built in. Requires some work but you can save some good money going DIY!
So I messed up on this test. You can see I set this up on the end of my dock where it gets direct FL sunlight basically all day, lol. But either way i got the water down to 45 with ice and the next day mid day i checked and the water was just under 60. Still cold plunge-able, but i bet it would have done even better if i put the setup in shade. Ill be doing more experiments this week. :)
@@FedericoGomez-zw7puI ended up buying freezer safe plastic containers, saves so much money and you don’t have to buy ice. Each block takes my temp down 1-2 degrees, and with this being insulated, the water stays cold longer
Hi David. Odd question: Do your big toes jam up against the side of the 300 when you sit in it? My big toes are arthritic. I’m 5’ 11”. I’ve been thinking about ordering one, just not sure how well it would work with my feet.
Hi purchased a ice barrel 300 but no matter what i try i seem to have a leak on the bottom port where the spigot is. I have tightened it and even used plumbers tape and putty on the threads but no luck. Any help.
That’s frustrating and I am sorry. Is it too tight! I noticed it’s easy to tighten too much which may cause a leak. I’ve heard of a few cases like this and you may need to have them send you a replacement under warranty if it won’t stop.
I put in 100 lbs of ice and it got to 45 quickly, Once you get the water low, it should keep a low temp and the ice blocks will be able to keep it cool.
Nope! The insulation really helps with that. But that really will depend on the environment. When i had my original plunge in teh house (the temp inside was always around 70) there was a little, but i moved it outside and it was a lot!
@@DavidMausJr Thanks. I’m trying to decide between an ice barrel and a plunge because I’m remodeling a basement bathroom. But putting one outside is an option too. I live in Ohio so outside could be good in winter. Appreciate all your content. It certainly helps.
So I have a explore Ice 103 gallon plunge. Paid $135. Works great. My only issue is I can't straighten my legs which keeps warm spots behind my knees. The 300 here would not solve my issue. This 300 is only 77 gallons. Something to ponder before spending your hard earned dollars. I feel you have a bias Dave, seems like ice barrel is compensating you now. Anyway, just my opinion, too small for what your spending
Thanks for your opinion my friend. Yes there are a ton of cheaper options out there. But many do love the ice barrel as an option. That is such a bummer. I know when i was at the HQ they were completely slammed with emails and it was a little balancing act between responding the emails about shipping or actually shipping the barrels out. If you dont have water filter would you change the water every time you use it?
Nope! Depends on how many people jump in it, but you can also use the Ice barrel stabilizer and that would keep the water clean and clear for a while.
