I remember watching this on MTV back in the day at the age of 10 and then seeing Purple Rain on Cube Warner Cable PayPerView the next year with my Dad. Wish I could get a time machine sometime and travel back to relive some of these moments.
AMAZING!! So much new content from the DVD version. You can definitely sense the tension between Morris and Prince at the time during his interview. Glad they kissed and made up in the end!
They will still edit it down alot because they are not trying to appeal to the hardcore Prince fan who doesn't care if there is lots of dead space in the uninterrupted real time footage like this.
This is GOLD! I love old MTV footage of any kind from the 80s. Who are those 4 dudes that get ushered across the carpet at 1:29 ? Is the tall one Tony M? Look at how cheesy that club was. This is before every club looked like the inside of a spaceship.
My niehbor Stephanie A.A(Sagittarius) had some posters, her older cousins went to see one of Prince's concerts in 1985 or 1986, they lived in The Bronx with their parents, aunt, uncle, Trinidad family origin. Trisha and Michelle Alexander.
@@Iammyownhero90 not that I remember. There was food and drink though. I hung out with Todd Bridges, James Bridges and Stony Jackson. Talked to loads of people eg Lionel Ritchie, John Cougar, Vanity 6 and more.
Wow this is fascinating! takes me back to innocently days. Seeing the Wendy n Liza interview was great. I don’t remember seeing them interviewed back in the heyday day.
In My Opinion, The Movie/Motion Picture -"Purple Rain" - generally describes Entertainment/Career(s)-Progress(Studying, novice, practice, some noteriety, eventually popularity!).
I agree. It also shows how you can abuse the people around you but when you make it, all is overlooked and you'll never have to complete the process of going from The Kid to an actual man.
This is amazing, so many celebs are there Eddie Murphy Weird Al Yankovic etc, this is before Weird Al starred in the box office bomb UHF.this is back when Weird Al was a comic maestro the same as Ray Stevens.
Hopefully AI can be put to use restoring Historically important videos such as this one . Otherwise they will be completely lost to the sands of time .
Back then everybody took the music industry and MTV so serious... its quite strange...the music and performances in Purple Rain were good, the rest was boring and got more B movie vibes.. the acting was horrible and to some degree its was very sexist..

If you notice in Purple Rain, Prince never said a line to Morris
I hope Warner Home Video include this whole entire world premiere as a special bonus if Purple Rain gets a 4K UHD release
For real! My special edition DVD has a short version of this.

You might be right. Tony M and the NPG dancers were in the movie. If you blinked, you missed them. LOL!!!
The Game Boyz Tony , Kirk, Damon. They also doubled as Prince’s security that night.

It must've been very cool being in Los Angeles in 1984
@DJAstroBlackMusic. COOL! Do you recall how much the tickets to the premiere cost? And were you able to meet Prince himself?
If those PRINCE POSTERS are not available for fans to purchase, it should be! In 1986, I was ten and I did not have Prince or Madonna Posters!
Apollonia 6 ❤️❤️❤️
