- Emma Star, a young graffiti artist, has run out of places to paint in the monochromatic city she calls home. Her search for the perfect canvas leads her deeper into the city’s streets, where she encounters the city’s villainous ruler, THE SCREEN. Can Star complete her masterpiece before THE SCREEN finishes her off?

Hello! I’m Jenny Yi, a storyboard artist and designer. I enjoy telling stories through my drawings, and am always looking for ways to showcase my bizarre ideas with action and comedy. Bringing my stories to life is something that I love, and I want others to enjoy those stories as well! Some FUN FACTS about me is that I’m a huge anime nerd, I dress like Parapa the Rapper and I love the rain!

I think it's more similar to the moral of the video for "Hurts Like Heaven"
It's about the 'robotic' like sameness of society as a whole and the repression of individuality and creativity as something 'unproductive'
We artists aren't appreciated the way we used to be by society: back in the day cities would pay good money to cover their buildings in elaborate carvings and paintings and master artists were considered stars, whereas now its increasingly difficult to find work and viable payment for our art thanks to over-harsh copyrighting by large IPs (the suppression of many fanworks), art having 'trends' that suppress artists of other genres finding exposure (algorithms, which encourage that 'sameness' I talked about) and the general impression that animation and the like is for children and thus not a career worth chasing (this one is thankfully being gradually eroded

So honored to have been a part of this project as soundtrack composer!
After seeing director Jenny’s vision, I was inspired to make something that blended the futuristic style of cyberpunk with the rebellious spirit of J-rock. Luckily, I had co-written and produced a J-rock inspired song “Sinner” with Dani Saldo and Matt Reyes not too long ago, and it was perfect for Paint It! The soundtrack was so easy to make because of this inspiration.
Paired with another song called “Where’s My Money”, these featured songs became the debut release for milknhunni (a new music-for-film-focused project led by Dani) on Spotify/Apple Music, etc.
Shoutout to Jacob as well for nailing the sound in a time crunch!
I'm so excited to see what the future holds for all these talented artists at Seneca 2d 🤩

After watching this Anitmated pilot, I can conclude that the Grafiti Artist and the Pigeon are the only living beings in this sci-fi world.
Well, that's one way to nuke a hard drive, literally.
This is utterly INSANE, props to you and your team! If it is an allegory for what AI is currently doing to artists, I love that the robots and the screen are only every shown stealing and destroying, because the great illusion of AI is that it can make things. It is just that - an illusion. The only way real things are ever made is through artistic madness and struggle, which ends triumphantly and loudly and colourfully and I love how sincerely and thoroughly this film captures that!! Utterly floored by all of this!

@@Spino-hx2mr In a literal way. Rendering is the idea of giving a flat 2 dimensional surface 3D perspective. Much of art is to give you the illusion of meaning without actually stating it. Some art is literal illusions. like shadow puppetry, or grame animation is giving you the illusion a picture is moving. Art as a whole is illusions. AI just doesn't know what meaning behind an illusion is or even think about the illusion at all, Thus the illusion often fails, because the machine doesn't comprehend it's casting an illusion, just a number the results in something people maybe like.
This is one of the best animations I’ve seen all year! LOOK UP “UNDERRATED” IN THE DICTIONARY AND THIS VIDEO SHOULD POP UP! Incredible, outstanding work.
The character designs are so beautifully stylized! And the backgrounds and settings are so futuristic and punky. I also enjoy the are the protagonists have done on the walls. It reminds me of Jet Set Radio. And the vibe reminds me a little bit of TRON. I also adore the score done on some of the shots. The pacing is also done well. This perfectly encapsulates the spirit of being a rebellious artist in a world where the postion is greatly depreciating due to the rise in AI.

it seemed like she wants to make art but the problem is that its on the ai's body i.e. the buildings. The ai doesn't want that and tried to stop her from doing it on the bright part which could be like a sensor but in the end its gets destroyed and the human wins, if taken in the literal sense.
The A.I looks suspiciously like PAL 🤔
