  • "The Prophets of Antiquity Versus the Profits of Today" was recorded on May 22, 1983. This lecture by Manly P. Hall explores an age-old topic of ambition and success vs. morality and spirituality. Of course, these are not mutually exclusive, and Hall considers ways in which the two can be balanced in the individual person.

    Where are all the likes? Ahhh the perceptive don't want to be reminded of their inability to be free of the clutches of materialism and don't want to be reminded of the grasp they are in by big business and the pursuit of a better life. Makes sense. Thank you manly for your insight which inturn led to my comfortable Porsche and my charitable and philanthropic aims. Downloading this one, while the majority skips over it. ❤

      What an unusual comment for a Manly P. Hall video... I can't know what you mean. Half of what you said sounds like you've bought right into the arrogance and materialism Manly was talking about.

      Did you just brag about materialistic items while insulting materialists? It's you. The materialist is you. Likes and views are materialistic too. Get a life.

    ‘A trace of congenital moronity in there somewhere … how can we claim to be grown-up, mature people … and make such stupid decisions?’ More priceless MPH wit and wisdom on the dilemma of economic man, hilarious and deadly serious at once.

    It is a required reading for adults and a Commencement speech for high school grads. The present broken down legal system, economy if dishonest hands, lack of integrity in US leadership,the talk of Peace while military science replaced US diplomacy, - it all is happening. But there is HOPE: no man can destroy the Divine plan…. We can work together to fix our problems by curbing our individual ambitions & selfishness

    So happy I've found this channel! I just bought a lecture series transcript at an estate sale. (3$)...it's from the September of 1944 lecture series at Gibson Hall (The Times Theater Bldg. in Los Angeles)
    Great reading materials indeed 👍

    Wow my church just talked about Jesus holing the whip in his hands. Here I am seeing a photo of it. Jesus is with us. The video 1:21:44 = 144K

      Where in the Bible does Jesus hold a whip figuratively or metaphorically? I'm not well versed in scripture.

      @@sarahpersonalexcellenceguide John 2:15 says, "So he made a whip out of cords, and drove all from the temple courts, both sheep and cattle; he scattered the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables". This verse shows that Jesus was capable of action, righteous anger, and confrontation when it was necessary. He personally made the whip which He used to drive these men from the temple.

    Well, just started watching this and Hall is incorrect about the Jewish prophets; they were members of elite families. It is quite peculiar that he would be wrong about such an open fact... ask any rabbi.

    • @alchemybyangela
      @alchemybyangela 2 месяца назад

      In Judaism, there is sadly much disdain for Jesus. He is completely disregarded in any shul I've ever been to. Personally, I can't see how asking a rabbi such a question would prove it fact.

      Yes and Socrates was made to drink the hemlock etc. also. Manly himself was likely murdered for money the police didn't even much care to investigate his suspicious death because he was elderly. Intelligence is controversial.
