  • Manly Palmer Hall (March 18, 1901 - August 29, 1990) was a Canadian-born scholar and philosopher. Well known for his 1928 encyclopedic outline of symbolical philosophyThe Secret Teachings of All Ages, he authored dozens of books and hundreds of essays and gave thousands of lectures in Los Angeles and throughout the world. Mr. Hall founded the Philosophical Research Society (PRS) in 1934 and was its first president, remaining so until his death in 1990.
Mr. Hall was a seeker and lover of wisdom, and the very definition of a philosopher. He lived a unique and profound life that centered on his search for meaning in the world’s wisdom traditions. An autodidact and polymath, Hall amassed an extraordinary collection of rare books and artifacts from his extensive travels and devoted himself to the study of these works and their application to the positive development of the individual and society as a whole. He was a consummate teacher who took his deep learning and translated it into an accessible and compelling presentation to readers and listeners for seventy years. Hall attained an amazing degree of scholarship in those branches of learning that bear upon the beliefs, ideals, and convictions of humanity.
Mr. Hall gave nearly seven thousand different lectures and talks and appeared on numerous radio and television stations throughout the United States. All of his lectures, many lasting two hours, were given extemporaneously and without notes.

In addition to these activities, Manly P. Hall traveled extensively and assembled a magnificent library. PRS continues to receive visitors and letters of appreciation from all over the world for the inspiration and guidance he shared over the course of his extraordinary life, and we continue his mission to provide practical and profound wisdom to seekers at all stages of life.

Certain answers; it is dishonest to speak a Noble Lie just to win followers to a philosophy. People are indoctrinated with conventional truths--- but who do they serve? Meditation is wonderful, and there are many forms of this practice. Some reveal truths, and most of these practices block other bad thoughts. This is surely healing---- but absolutely not a truth system.

Yes! A lot of Christians are unwittingly stuck in the gospel of John the Baptist - repentance and belief of Jesus (Acts 19:4) - and don't know that Jesus preached the Gospel of the Kingdom "within you." The exceeding Love and Power of the Most High God is announced on the Cross in the forgiveness of sin. Christ paid off our sin baggage, not an angry Father. Yet the way to partake of the Kingdom is still through purity and true meditation. "Be transformed by the renewing of your mind." Jesus did not come to abolish the law, but to fulfill it on our behalf. Yet the mainstream "believer" puts more hope in waiting to die than in the one who claims to have overcome death! The Kingdom is found in another dimension, and can be visited without dying first. I recommend a youtube series on how to meditate by "Glorian." Blessings!

@@Alex-qf2lb Bible speaks a lot about the how the human heart aka the mind is complex and cannot always be trusted. Especially when you live in a world where you see how mankind uses their free will each and everyday.
It’s written within the same Bible you’re referring to how The Word of God is not to be misinterpreted and how they will be many who will misinterpret it to fit their own narratives, agendas, beliefs, etc. (I.e. Deut 4:2, 2 Timothy 3:16-17, Jeremiah 17:9)
I once believed people like Manly P. Hall was had all the answers until you search into their backgrounds and find that they’re rooted in free masonry and the whole idea that we ourselves are “God” when that is so far from the truth. God was merciful enough to pull me away from such thinking as it will always lead one towards witchcraft and the dark arts.
If that’s where you fall into, fine - I have no right to judge you given my own past but just know that God loves you and he has demonstrated it through his only son, Jesus Christ who bore the sins of mankind. If you desire truth - real truth - then seek Jesus and he will lead you to himself.

Manly Palmer Hall is one of the greatest minds IMO to come out of the 20th century. I would not be the person I am today without his guidance. I've read a couple of his books but i have to say i easily have listened to over 100 hours of his lectures and still do. His knowledge on certain subjects are so vast and wide its amazing to think one human could store it all in the mind. The real beauty is how he managed to come to such a conclusion about life that coincided with the cultures and beliefs of ancient times. His work is truly timeless 🙏💛🙏

It's almost as if he is just pulling the information from the cosmos ya know. Obviously very well read but some of it is just soooo like on point. I think McKenna, Ram Dass, Alan Watts do a very similar thing where they hit these certain Universal truths or lies that make it seem they are talking directly to you or your soul or whatever and you just get goose bumps or I get brought to tears by lots of it from its beauty! Life is very magical and mysterious! Just wish there was more Love between one another and gov'mint actually took care of citizens. We could have paradise on Earth like fairly easy honestly.

"The real beauty is how he managed to come to such a conclusion about life that coincided with the cultures and beliefs of ancient times." This is because he was a Freemason - who have no dogma and can look at any of the world's spiritual and philosophical traditions without fear of "heresy" or "hypocrisy". Freemasonry is about "making good men better". The Catholic church (and later, the Muslims) didn't like how popular it was becoming so they put out all sorts of lies about Freemasonry - and still do. If anyone is interested, Manly P Hall is the truth about what Freemasonry is. Look into it!

Sure, get to know you, what you want and need. It really boils down to "live life": do the things that enable one's life to be successful at gaining energy/resources and reproducing. The only complex part is what comes out of the society we've built. In other words, get to the root and derive from there.
The TV and radio are tools to study the society. A barometer, of sorts, to determine relations among competing factions.

What dooms society is taking WEEKS old infants and giving them to facilities for 50 plus hours a week of their waking hours instead of supporting the mother to BE HER BEST SELF with federal maternity leave so she can raise and bond with them like EVERY other developed country.
Put a rainbow on the side of the building and slap some paint on a sheet a paper from the child and modern day parents can happily gaslight themselves that their kids are getting their needs met by people that don’t actually love them and that have no ability to be their best self as they have NO skin in the game and next year they will move to the next set of humans never really attaching to anything consistently.
Take an animal away from its mother too soon and watch the maladaptive behaviors come out years later, but when you see it in the behaviors of human children apparently everybody goes into cognitive dissonance and blames everything but the obvious.

This is amazing! I wrote my Masters thesis on Manly P. Hall a couple of years ago. What’s interesting is that hardly anyone was talking about Hall in scholarship or social media save for smaller channels and podcasts. Nowadays, there seems to be a Manly P. Hall renaissance on the rise and it’s great! I don’t chalk that up to my thesis (as I don’t think anyone has read it), but instead chalk it up to Mitch Horowitz’s recent work on Hall and his lecturing circuits at Theosophical Societies.

No you didn't. The person I was replying to. I was asking his thoughts about manly p hall channeling the energy of lucifer. If you had written a masters thesis on him, maybe you'd know what I'm talking about. Since you don't know what I'm talking about, I'm not exactly curious on your thoughts about manly hall channeling lucifer. If you wanna do some research on manly p hall, and learn about what he said and believes regarding lucifer and then you wanna come back and give me your opinion on it, go for it. But you didn't do a masters thesis on the guy, so even then, your opinion about his beliefs regarding lucifer won't really matter that much to me.

    • @roberjohnsmith
      @roberjohnsmith 5 месяцев назад +5

@Utrechtborn my "implications" only seem veiled to someone who doesn't know very much about manly p hall. It's not really an implication. I own a 200 dollar book of his which is hard to get and costs real money, I used to be very interested in manly p hall and studied him a fair amount. And in this book (and other books as well), he documents and talks about how he channels the "seething energy of lucifer" as he calls it. So again, nothing about what I said was vague, non of it involved any implications. I asked a person who wrote a masters thesis a specific question. Just because you don't understand my question, doesn't make it vague or anything of the sort.

I really enjoy the illustrations with the video.
I find life much more palatable when I dont judge the other persons actions but rather my reactions to the others.
It helps me to remind myself that the state of the world was more like hell than heaven on earth where you were born into.
You are the light that the world is in need of.

Awesome summary of the wisdom of MPH. When we learn to be silent; learn to be thoughtful rather than selfish; learn to make our break from the past and start to start over with a fresh mind, then, we can say we have truly been reborn from above.

You’re lucky enough to have a copy that is decades old, it’s nearly impossible to buy a new copy of “The Secret Teachings of All Ages” that is unabridged.
The weird thing is that virtually all of the modern publications have no mention of being an abridged edition. Most people don’t even know they are buying an editorialized edition, and Manly P. Hall wasn’t one to add irrelevant information to his work.

That's a fools game. The road to hell is paved wjth good intentions. I've seen "love" turn into many things that are the opposite of love. The quote is entirely subjective, so my next question is, what is YOUR definition of love?

    • @BradyHansen81

@BradyHansen81 I just asked, what is YOUR definition of love?
You didn't ask me my definition of love, so how could you say I have a distorted definition of love?
Genuinely curious how you could come to that conclusion without me giving a definition for love

    • @roberjohnsmith
      @roberjohnsmith 5 месяцев назад

I know people who have done terrible things out of "love", I didn't say thats my version of love. I'm just saying loving kindness to one person will different from another person's, then I pointed out it all depends on how YOU define it. Then I asked you your definition.

@@roberjohnsmith a mothers love for their newborn child is a great example of love. We can love all beings like this, for we all suffer from Anger, Attachment and Ignorance that distort our perception.
Love does not mean roll over and let people walk all over you.
This is extremely difficult to articulate via the written word so I apologize for not having a better answer. This is the best I can do.
A mothers pure love for their child. Yes, that’s the best I can articulate it. Now find a way to see all beings in the way a mother sees their child and you’ll get closer to what I’m trying to articulate. 🙏

Perhaps pick off the easiest one first, and gain momentum from there. Every little step forward, counts. Oops, had a step back? The next step forward will fix that.
Also, consider simplifying. Start with the basics, and then when those are secure, then it may make the next things easier to get.
