- What's it like catching an overnight bus in Thailand?
I just caught a 12 hour VIP bus from Phuket to Bangkok, in this video you'll get to see what the bus is like, what the journey is like, how much is costs, where to buy a ticket, where to catch the bus and see what you can expect if you choose to do the same.
I went through Lignite tour and chose the VIP option as the price difference wasn't massive.
It was quite a good experience and definitely one I'd recommend if you don't like flying like me (or have a lot of luggage that you'd end up having to spend more on to take on a flight).
As always I appreciate you watching the video, please like, comment or subscribe and I'll catch you in the next one

Thanks for that, we just booking Bangkok to Phuket and Koi Samui to Bangkok. We are in Thailand for Jan and Feb 25. The savings are quite a lot when you add them up.
Definitely, and if you consider the accommodation + transport savings it adds up more. Thanks for the comment!
Night bus every time, like you say saves a night accommodation and in that part of the world they're usually very comfy. Funnily enough the worst night buses I've been on have been in.... Australia!
Defo man, haha that doesn’t surprise me about Australia but catch an overnight train in SEA and it’s a different story right 😅
Totally agreed. I am Thai living in NZ, took night bus from Melbourne to Adelaide, it was worst bus travelling for me.
Helpful vid for my upcoming trip! thanks 👏🏻 👏🏻
Look forward to hearing about your trip 😏😁
I did not look that good coming off an overnight bus, did that in Vietnam. Thanks for the useful info for an anxious flyer. I love exploring by bus, get to see so much more and the people are a whole lot more humble. 🤩
Haha thanks! Defo a solid option to avoid flying🙌🏻

Thai vietjet is one hour and $30. Rok Air is $20. I'll pass on the 12 hour bus ride.
Fair enough, I definitely see your point. Don’t forget the luggage fee if you’re travelling with more than the allowance and the night of accommodation tho 🤙🏻
Great video, I traveled Hanoi to Sapa and then on to Hue, Hoi Anne ,Danang and on to Ho Chi Min all by train and sleeper bus, great experience. Just like you booked accommodations on the move. Loved it, yes I could of flown and have done in the past , just fancied doing it differently for a change.
I’m with you Russell and I’ve caught that train from Hanoi to Da Nang too. Great change of experience, especially if you’re not keen on flying or want to save on flying and a nights accommodation. Thanks for the comment 👍🏻
Thanks for the info, actually going the opposite way round but great to know the name of the bus company. Some of the options weren't looking to good.
Hope the trip goes smooth, I’ll be back on there again very soon too 👍🏻
Don't care what country I am in, always buys over flying
Wherever I can bus, I will!
Interesting video ...can i ask what do you dislike about flying..new sub btw...Thanks
Thanks for the comment & sub 👊🏻… the whole experience of the plane taking off, potential turbulence, not being in control of what happens or being able to get off, haha irrational I know 😅
@@joshbonthemove Thanks for response mate, yes i understand fully my brother hates it...keep Safe and enjoy life always..Thanks
Could you share the bus company? And where the bus stations were (phuket and Bangkok)?
Bus station in phuket was just outside of phuket town (bus terminal 2 on maps), in Bangkok I really can’t remember to be honest. I was so tired and disorientated it could’ve been anywhere lol
Hi JB, how to buy the ticket? is it online? I cant find the bus you rode.
Hi 👋🏻. I bought it at the bus station a couple of days before, you could probably also buy them on the day. Bus terminal 2 Phuket town
Hi JB. I just watched your vlog and it’s pretty informative. Thank you for it. As I am gonna travel to Thailand that alone so your video was helpful.
Thanks for the comment, I hope you love Thailand as much as I do 🙌🏻
How much is the luggage allowance?
@@SubashiniGowtham when I went I don’t think there was a limit, I’ve since paid an extra 150 baht on a coach for luggage but not on this bus
Love the vid, I am pretty sure there's nicer coaches than that!
I’ll be back very soon, will try this style of transport again. I think you might be right
Hello, I am planning to try this vip bus, how to go to the bus terminal if you are in Patong? Can I book ticket on same day or should I book in advance? Thank you so much.
You can get a bus, or bolt to the terminal 2 in phuket town (this one in the video) or there might be a terminal closer to Patong. You can book the same day and a lot of people do. Thanks for the comment!
@@joshbonthemove May I ask where is the bus terminal if Im coming from Phuket Town? Thank you
Thank you for the insight. Shame about your hat 🧢
RIP to the hat 💙 thank you 🙏🏻
Hey I'm going to get a bus from Phuket to Bangkok making stops at hotels on the way so playing on it taking 3 days is it doable? We go 9 in September. Is it going to be hot? This year 2024 we are coming from Australia and planning on staying 2 weeks we have never left Australia before 😂 and the day I'm writing this it was 39c today and I'd like to die 😂😂
what about a normal bus? We want to
You’ve got an adventure ahead of you :)
I personally wouldn’t bother with staying anywhere between for a night as I think by the time you get settled or see Anthony it’ll be time to go again. It’s definitely doable but I’d suggest doing 2-3 nights in 3-4 places rather than spreading it so thin. September will be the wet season but it’s still hot, it will never reach 39 degrees but humidity might be high. Bangkok for 1-2 nights, phuket for 2-3 nights, Ao Nang for 2-3 nights, then another 1-2 places will probably be a great trip 👍🏻
@@joshbonthemove I've got us booked four nights in Phuket down the south part and I just book four and 3 nights in Mana-an lake hill then four nights at the Bakary hotel in Bangkok we have 16 night and it's cost way to much I need some cheaper places for 9 ppl
Sounds like you've got a good variety there, in terms of places between BKK and PHKT , we went to Khao Sok national park (it's a little off route but a great experience and reasonably cheap), if it's purely cost, you could also check out Hua Hin... I have some answers but not all of 'em sorry haha

@@joshbonthemove I gave up on the bus, cuz too many get sick and it's going take 24 hours in bus from Phuket to Chiang Mai then back to Bangkok. I booked the flights in country today
Hey thanks for your video
Enjoy your trip! It's an amazing country @@birdsandthingsbeachandbush1064
Wow, love the practical ways you shared on saving money. Thanks.
Thank you! Budget travel doesn’t need to be uncomfortable 🙌🏻
What company did you use??
Lignite tour
Can someone please tell the name of the bus
Lignite tour, the bus was the VIP option 🤙🏻
Just booked it from Bangkok to phuket for 8th of march so looking forward to trying something new
