  • Owen and I head up to Mount Rogers area to do a little exploring. We started at Grayson Highlands overnight parking area, camp near Rhodo Gap, then head over to the Cabin Trail for some waterfall exploring, into town for a hamburger in Damascus and finally a great sunset and sunrise at Buzzard Rocks.
Btw, the dates are wrong in the video that show what each day's date is. Typo! It really was in November of 2020.

Really cool area. I love those big Mountain View’s and all those creek crossings. And who couldn’t love the ponies. What an awesome area 👍🏻👍🏻

Mount Rogers never gets old, that's for sure! So many places to explore you can go a different route every visit (I even made up a few since I got lost for a hot minute)

Just subbed your channel. I am looking forward to checking out this area in May when I come out for Trail Days. I'm sure it will be a zoo then, but I live in central VA so its a drive for me to get out that way. I've watched so many videos of ppl hiking in GH, can't wait to see it for myself!

It definitely will be crazy with people in these warmer months -- but almost always worth it! The ponies alone are worth the long drive :-)

@@markwthompson71 Just saw wild ponies in Cumberland Island GA on a RUclipsr Collab hike I did. Loved it. Can't wait to see them in my own state though and in the beautiful highlands!

@@RVAHikerGirl I LOVE Cumberland Island! Watching the horses cross over Christmas Creek from the North island was probably my best moment there. I'm planning an extended trip back there come next winter. :-)

Great weather, lots of views, plenty of laughs and a good burger at the end. Doesn’t get much better.

Couldn't agree more! This was one of those picture perfect camping trips! Thanks for watching!

Always enjoy watching video's of people hiking in my 'back yard'. I actually like Whitetop better than most of the Highlands area. I grew up in Konnarock which is at the foot of Whitetop.

I'm pretty new to this area and only have recently started exploring it. It's amazing for sure!
I'm worried White Top will be pretty busy when warmer weather comes. I'll head over to the East side and explore Lewis Fork more in addition to Little Wilson Creek Wilderness.

Might there be a decent camping spot on Beech Mountain?

@@markwthompson71 Yeah it gets busy then easy access I guess. No shortage of places to explore in the area.

@@markwthompson71 yeah there's a couple that's not bad. I've even camped right down below Buzzard Rock.
