I had a Mali that I lost about 2 years ago, I still missed her and loved her dearly 😢 She was actually raised by my Jack Russell/Beagle mix (talk about a handful 😂) he actually gave her a run for her money every day! But when he developed cancer and got to where he wouldn't play with her he actually let her know it was time to stop playing. But she protected me when I had gotten pneumonia and I couldn't even get out of bed, she just stayed beside me and kept me warm

I grew up with 4 Belgian Malinois. They were used as guard dogs at my dads company, but were so sweet to me as a little girl. I could take them on walks, learn them new tricks... I loved hanging out with them and playing around. It’s an amazing dogbreed, but definitely for the experienced dog owner. Raise them right and you’ll have a wonderfull dog!
Had my malinois 3 years now, was in the military so new the breed. Please don't buy one of these dogs if your not prepared to exercise them for at least 2 hours a day. These dogs are one of the only breeds left that heve not been messed around with, purely because they were only bred for working. But I have noticed over the years they are getting more popular, And are now being left at dog rescue centre's, because amateur breeders are breeding them, And selling them to people for pets. They are not indoor pets , They need something to do. Think twice and do your research, if your prepared to put the work in , you will have the cleverest most loyal friend you can imagine, these dogs will protect you with there lives, they are fantastic.
@@nihonkokusai My two older Malinois (10-12) can deal with it when they only get two hours but the next few days, I would need to increase their activites. With my youngest (two and a half years old) there is no way that two hours would satisfy him. He'd go nutty. He likes to have activity from morning until evening. I agree whole heartedly with Dean Stephens, however, they are not good pets for anyone not familiar with the breed. I've had all sorts of working breeds in 50 years and the Malinois' needs and personality are very different than all of them.
I have one at home, and while being a handful at times, she is the best, the smartest and the cutest, she cured my depression, she saved my life. Her high energy is contagious and will make any day get better.
Man, I'm so grateful that we as humans have this strong longtime companionship with dogs. They do so much for us, work hard for us, comfort us, and do anything to please us. We are so lucky to have them around.
Especially since we treat them so badly. 2m+ put down in the US alone annually. I have a Cane Corso, which is a very difficult breed to own if you want a well-trained, well-mannered, and well-socialized dog. I constantly see them being put into shelters because people can’t handle them. A Belgian Malinois is easily twice as difficult, and usually a lot more difficult than that. It’s a privilege for us. I appreciated your attitude.
Been a dog lover all my life. There are definitely all types of owners in the world, but I'm always thankful for those of us who see it as more than just an additional item to remember to buy when we're out shopping (dog food😂), but truly value the relationship and give them the love, attention, & energy they deserve. I'm a Rottweiler man to my core, but in 46yrs, have had more than a few amazing dogs in my life... A Husky, Golden, Black lab. I'm super allergic to cats, and not a big fan of them ANYway. Lol But dogs will always hold a special place in my heart. They're just so GOOD❤️
*@Iɳƚҽɾɠαʅαƈƚιƈ Sραƈҽ Kιƚƚҽɳ* Indeed, dogs, horses and other wonderful animals have served us for millenniums, and we are very fortunate to have them. One thing always puzzled me, is that in almost in every culture around the world, we tend to call people that upset us _Dogs,_ *we shouldn't,* as dogs are the most faithful, loyal and honest creature we can find, they never, ever betray their human companion, so why do we use the word _dog_ as an insult. 😡
Also, these malinois are depravation trained which makes them more inclined to please! They are headers normally so you are misrepresenting the dog breed!!!!!!!!
Best dogs ever. I had one, Kept her happy and busy by hiking camping, and hunting with me. Super attached and loyal. Lost her when she got ran over. Now I have her puppies and will give them the happiest life I can 💖
My neighbor has a Malinois. She's extremely smart and overall a lovely dog. But if I see how much effort my neighbor puts in to physically but also mentally train her ... that's not a dog for me even if I were unemployed.
Unfortunately, too many people aren't able to recognise that, or they don't want to recognise it. Thank you for not being one of these uninformed, ignorant or selfish people... It truly hurts my heart when I think of all the dogs that are bored out of their mind and not cared for adequately, then become destructive or agressive as a result of this boredom, and who are then abandoned or euthanized... Malinois, Huskys, Ridgebacks, Pit Bulls, Cane Corsos, Presas, wolfdogs, Malamutes, Border Collies ... The list goes on and on.
The only sad thing about military dogs is when they get old they will be in shelters/out of action. Some of them are injured & well yeah.. not a lot of people want them as a pet. I've seen a docu about it. Made me cry 😔
@@i.am.OK. I have an almost 1 year old staffy and a 18 week old collie, i still would not get a malinois! An hour or so a day of my undivided attention is enough. They do come everywhere with me, I've never understood people who don't spend time with their dogs
These dog's could possible be IMHO the smartest dog breed in the world. Never seen a dog balance while walking a glass of water on his nose. Agility and abilities are amazing.
These dogs are definitely one of the most versatile and amazing breeds! It’s like their brains are sponges just waiting to soak up the next challenging command to learn!
I ended up adopting a Malinois/Australian Cattle Dog. Ever since I got her at 3 months old, I've been doing training with her. She'll be a year old in a couple of weeks and people are quite impressed with how well behaved she is. She's going to be a service dog. She's my first Malinois. I just study as much as I can about her breed. I'm lucky that I only work 2 days a week and she goes to work with me. I'm really enjoying and loving my Malinois!
Indeed! And they are called maligators for a reason. It's what you get when you cross a german shepherd with a gator, and give it a 6-pack of 5 hour energy.
Everyone says this but my Malinois loves sleeping and won't go out in the rain. She's a princess. She now had a back injury though and had paralysis, so she can't move too well... but you still can't stop the prey drive. She will drag herself across the grass to chase bunnies.
Anneka, great video! I had a Belgium Malinois and she was the best. She passed away last year but she lived until she was 14.5 years old. She is now is doggy heaven.
I have a Belgian Malinois. But she is not as tough as these 2 Malis on the video. She is more a cuddle baby and I love her so, so much. I take her for a walk for 2 to 3 times a day. And we have a big backyard so she can run and play together with her little brother, a Pomeranian. These 2 different breeds are doing great together.
i go on hikes with mine regularly, but these arent typical hikes. its hiking for me, but hunting for them. she is an expert at moles and rabbits, but now suffers from hip dysplasia.
Yes, if you get one, be sure you are a responsible owner... You have time to bond, exercise and socialize, if you want a dog only to stay at home, dont get malinois
I've known two Malinois. One was the most vicious (large) (but gorgeous) dog I've ever met. The other such a sweetheart. Not the fault of the dogs of course. The first one was from my aunt who just lost her husband (my favorite uncle who bought it a few months before) at the age of 43. It took her a few years to be pulled out of her depression and the dog ran wild. The latter lived at times with us at the university house. She was called Goof. We played a lot of football with her. A gentle soul (but every morning the garbage was strewn though the corridor :) Her only vice.
@@JVonD88 Not really. That's what describes Terriers. High energy doesn't mean irresponsible - there is such a thing as a sense of responsibility in dogs too - especially shepherds, of all kinds. And Malinois, at their origin, are shepherds.
I had an amazing MAL 7 years ago. He was unbelievable and I loved him dearly. I was constantly training and working with him as my job and still, I was not even able to tire him completly. I am very fit, super active, sportive and extremely disciplined person. People always asked me how it was to own a Malinois and till this day, my answer is ALWAYS the same one: -''It was a full time job '', people would laugh at my answer, and I would look at them directly saying: -'' Yeah ... not a joke my friend. MY dog is my full time job, FOR REAL''. I would then, explain the work and stimulation that he needs EVERYDAY. 5 years after my Mal passed away, I was on the search to adopt an other Malinois. I went to visit many amazing breeders in different states for over a year and a half. Slowly, I came to realized that my lifestyle has changed and my work was different. I was not sure I would be able to keep up with this breed for an other 15 years. I am still hyper active, Uber disciplined but i dont have the time anymore to have a working dog sharing my life, plus i know too much. I know what they need and how you have to stimulate them. I am now, the happy owner of a perfect dog to fit my present needs. He is something else let me tell you, and I dont even have to mentioned how perfectly mannered he is in every situation. He is umbelivable. I get comments on his behaviours on the daily. Lets just say that, even though he is from a otherkind of breed, he has been trained the MALNOIS way, and he is tired for sure at the end of the day. He is probably the dog in the best shape of our neighbourhood lol There is not ONE week since i adopted him that is passing without me thinking: -''Man it would of been a big mistake for me to adopt a Malinois now''. PLEASE, trust me people: you dont want a Malinois. And you certainly dont want a Malinois as a pet. They are more than what you think you can handle. This is coming from someone who actually shared her life with one.
I think I’ll take this advice. I’ve been really into researching this breed and as I learned more about them the reality has set in and I’m a bit bummed to admit it but I definitely shouldn’t get one of these dogs. A good trained German Shepherd is more my speed.
we accidently bought one as you can see in my profile picture, we got told they were bred with malinois 8 generations back so it was apprebtly claimed as an pure gsd, but as we noticed when she got older her traits and cost was more like malinois than a gsd, which kinda made me upset since i love the german shepherds my absolute favorite bree, ahaha. but the breeders lied. and it may be like alooot of malinois in her. and her energy level is insane. i still love my little axie tho. shes an amazing dog.
These dogs are insane. I have one. He's incredible, but trust me. Don't get one if you don't have the time. They will wreck your house if you don't give them the time they need, daily.
Well if they ever become a status symbol for young men the way German shepherds Dobermans Rottweilers Pitbulls and Staffies have in the past and present then they will be overbred and oversold by the worst among us so hopefully those creeps will remain obsessed with their bully breeds.
I think if anyone ever wants a malinois just tell them to look up some videos of desperate homeowners calling in the trainers to get their dogs to stop eating the walls of their home and imagine it's them. If someone doesn't know EXACTLY what they are getting themselves into, they aren't ready for it.
I’d hate to be a bother, but how long on average do you leave him alone while you’re at work and what do you leave him? Is someone there to watch your dog while you’re gone? You don’t have to answer this, but it’d be greatly appreciated if you did. :)
These dogs are amazing. Even the mixes are like GSDs on speed, so, be warned anyone that just wants one of these and hasn't had that experience. Our Maligator/Pitbull is an amazing dog, scary-smart, fearless, and sweet, but he was hell on wheels until about 6. Needed runs, constant training, and consistent rules. Even at 10, he's still very diligent and driven, and would run right over anyone not ready for him.
I have a rescue who is a malinois mix, I’m sure she was given up because her previous owner couldn’t handle her energy. I’ve taken her and my husky mix on 6 mile trail runs, and when we get back to the house, she’s got her ball, wanting to play catch. Super smart, very trainable. (My husky mix, not so much, but that was during the summer, it may have been too hot for him. We’ll see how they like the cooler weather, and maybe longer runs.
I have a 5months old female malinois puppy. She is a perfect family dog! Yes my husband and I go walk/running twice a day each time at least 1 hour. She has such a great personality good with people, kids and other dog. They can be really good family dog if you play with them enough and well. She is so smart and goofy. Definitely the best dog ever!!!!!
I had a black lab that would go on my roof, although she had a low patio cover she used to climb onto the roof. It sure looked funny seeing her chilling on the roof though!
I had a Malinois for his entire life, from my experience they make great pets, they are super intelligent, they are 100% loyal to their family and they love activities but not all day like a lot of people say and they adapt to your lifestyle.
I agree with you about loyalty and family friendly, and you are correct about activity, mine (a three year old)gta at least one vigorous hour and a good active walk. His disposition is great and has never tore or wrecked the house. Simply put, to me they are the best!
I had Malinois,German Shepard, Collie mix. I have had dogs all my life but never one as smart as Chase! He lived to be 16 . I will never be able to find like him ever again. He is missed by all who knew him!
Sweet and look oh so stylin’ with the goggles. I love this breed. I know I’m not the right person to have one, but they are awe inspiring. Thank you for this video.
I watched this video very carefully! This is a fantastic breed, very agile, strong and intelligent! Very compliments to you Anneka for your action, thank you very much for this wonderful video 👍👍💪💪😍
I get so choked up and emotional when I watch this breed train, in the movies, or showing off their skills. They are courageous and tenacious. They have the capability to be real life heros. I am grateful, once again, that Animal Watch breaks down the breed and their personality and needs. Not just anybody should own a dog like this. Their mental health depends on them having the active, stimulating, well rounded life that their breed thrives on. This is a beautiful and majestic dog, both lines. They fly up a wall with such grace. They jump and soar through the air. This is truly a fascinating creature. Wonderful episode Animal Watch. Great job on another educational and entertaining show. ~❣️
My son works with SF, when he’s in a mock building playing the bad guy , he says when the malinois sent in , he’d rather be face to face with al quada, than the Malinois

I so wish people would see this video before buying a puppy malinois...both of mine are rescues and the shelters are full of malinois and huskies because people fall for their cute faces when they're babies but fail to realize how high maintenance they both are. The amount of exercice and mental stimulation you have to give them in order to have balanced dogs is huge. Yet when you do they are the most fantastic companions...so clever, so loyal, so gentle too.
Brilliant! I love working with and training dogs so I can see how these dogs are super in need of constant attention, exercise, and training. For most families it would seem these gorgeous dogs might be too much of a challenge.

Wow!! Call them Super Athletes as well of the dog world. Truly Amazing but really need to be with very experienced dog owners. Thank you Anneka for a great video.💚
I had one of these, best dog I've had, he was abused before we got him, took about a year for him to come good, he was brought up partly by a female New Fondland in a Big backyard, a very smart dog also, they used to play as she thought him how to be alert and fight and not to be scared, he never wrecked anything and became the family protector after she died (and he did protect!) he than brought up an abused Rotweiler, playfull but sometimes very rough, who was very agresive in the beginning, but Ben sorted him out well. Ben the Malinois was a dog who became a selfassured dog who stood by himself was loyal, trustworthy, protective, loved to be with the kids but was not needy. He worked out how to open doors etc. Every three weeks or so i'd find him on the bed with us for 15 minutes and that was enough cuddles for while, He was a lot of work and a lot of time spend in the beginning, daily trips to the beach all his life, he loved swimming and biting the waves! Hard day when he went. BTW the Rotweiler took over where Ben left off.
I have a GSD/Malinois mix and yes, she's quite a challenge and I love her. I'm at home all day and when I leave home I take her with me everywhere. We're a team. If she doesn't get enough stimulation she barks at the neighbor, the neighbors kid, the neighbor's mailbox, a plastic bag... or just barks. If you've seen somebody on severe withdrawal. That's her. Not a happy dog. And she becomes a pain in the ***. Don't get a dog like this if you just want a family pet. It can work as a family pet but if it does that's just a bonus.
I have gsd X Mali. Beautiful little pup very quick and easy to learn and very loyal 👍🏻 I’ve not had any problems with him then again I’m out and about with him from all hours 😂
I have an 11 month old 85lb GSD/Mal pup. he's actually not too bad considering his age. My GSD was a much bigger pain than he is. He's very tall and skinny so he hasn't grown into his body yet and I dont let him jump off of anything higher than a out 18" because hes still growing. should be some vids on my channel if you wanna check him out
I have a Belgian Malinois . She is the best dog I have ever had . You must give them alot of activity . I am home all day with her. She has to be by my side all the time 🙂 I love 💕 her so much. My husband said she is the most clinging dog he has ever know. I like how she is so lovely . Excellent guard dog. One thing you have to use an electric collar , as she got older I couldn't walk her , without her jumping up and biting HARD!! Don't worry it's not mean. I've talked to other Belgian Malinois owners , they do the same. Very smart 🤓 I just love her so much.
Love my Malagator we keep each other fit...they are so intense on getting a ball etc that they can hurt themselves ,tug games are his fave but we spend alot of time in search games loves the brain work! Having said that they're not for the average owner you need to spend the time training from the get-go and you will have one of the best dogs in the world...
I got one for my 8th birthday...he was the best babysitter I ever had. No one he didn't know could get near me. He loved towing us on our skate boards or in the ocean/lake and playing "search and rescue". He was so gentle with me that he could take a piece of pop corn out of my mouth.....with out mouths ever touching.
Animal Watch you're an inspiration. If it wasn't for this channel I doubt that I would be waiting for an Animal Care Course in Leeds due for September 2020 providing lockdown is fully lifted. Thanks for the inspiration as it's more than some part-time pursuit it's a profession to look after, feed and rescue to handling animals. Also a massive Thankyou to The Veterinarian Profession for working during the lockdown period. We clapped for you last night alongside human doctors.
My boss has one of these dogs. Super friendly but the power they hold. Incredible. I thought german shepherds had the edge and rotts too but these are beasts. The dog in question had so much energy she ran into a gate, injuring herself requiring stitches. All she cared about was her ball and chewing a massive log!
please do a video on "retro pugs" when it's safe. there're barely any videos about them, and covering the breed could bring more awareness about the awful health issues of modern pugs
Agreed about the ridiculous deformed breeds because of the dog show world. I think we're finally making an impact however as this lady highlighted the issue with the deliberately deformed German Sheperds caused by idiotic dog show breeders. What they've done to the flat faced or short legged dogs is criminal based on their warped view of extremity in unique features. There's no need to keep making dogs that can't run with stubby legs or flat faced dogs that can't breathe or German Sheperds who's rear legs collapse under them with hip problems and as far as the English Bulldog Mother Nature has already recognized the devastation caused to that breed and made it impossible for them to reproduce without artificial means. We need to bring an end to this nonsense called breed standards by dog show freaks. Time to favor and promote properly functioning healthy breeds and of course mixed breeds and mutts as healthy alternatives to pure breeds in general based on a wider gene pool as well as the availability of healthy mixed breeds in shelters. I think there is room for pure breeds as well as mixed ones if we can just weed out the irresponsible breeders and their customers.
Got one and he is 7,5 years old.. first 4 years we spend 5148 hours of training and working... today he is retired, and my one and only love, and familydog! If you want 100% loyalty... go get one! But do the work or they will destroy you...🐕🤙

Hope you will get one... 🤗👍
Belgian Malinois and german shepherd dogs are both amazing breeds! The Malinois have more drive and is more agil and faster. Thats the reason malis are used more in military and police nowadays than the GSD. On the other side the GSD have much more bite force is bigger stronger and have more intimidation factor what makes the GSD a better watch and protection Dog. Annyway a cross beetwen both makes an absolut fantastic dog!

Very smart dogs. And very brave!! I've been seeing alot of short vids on RUclips about them. And the song Sound of Silence the remixed version featuring disturbed playing in the background. So anytime i see these dogs, that song starts playing in my head.
Don’t have a purebred but my little puppy sure is like this. I’ve been training her so she is more manageable. She’s gotten so much better than the day we got her
My sister's a CSI. She hangs out around the K9 cops a lot and she's always sending pics of her petting their Malinois. They're great dogs, according to her. They even let her put on the suit and let one take her down. She said it was TERRIFYING!
My friend and landlord had one and we kicked it off so good that it still tears me up remembering it. Never seen such a fierce hunter but the best family man ever after .... Miss this guy!
Absolutely beautiful dogs and absolutely not for me😂 I’ll take the opposite that wants to lay around and be chill. These guys r like the frikkin Spider-Man scaling walls and fences😳 😂
Denise herud , i have a retired racing greyhound . Despite what this breed was bred for , they are the most laziest low mantinance dogs in the word. He gets a morning walk for 20 minutes. Sleeps for the rest of the day. He gets another 20 min walk in the evening, sleeps , has dinner, sleeps till the morning , only going out once or twice for a wee. They are perfect for any one wanting a low mantinance dog. I admire the Malinois , such a beautiful majestic dog but i could never own one as i know that i do not have the type of lifestyle that could keep one of these dogs happy and satisfied.
I have a malinois called Zeus hes 15 months old, he's my first dog and to be honest he's doing really well. I've spent alot of time training him since he was a puppy. Mostly stuff I've seen on you tube and now I'm starting bite work with a well known trainer. I've socialised him with other dogs and people and to this day havent had any aggression issue. I feel its about the people the dog grows up with you need to be firm but fair and the dog will love, respect and be your best friend. He gets on very well with other dogs, both my kids and wife who he respects. Also I feel this dog breed is always eager and loves to learn new tricks and to do obedience training daily to keep there minds mentaly stimulated and happy meaning relaxed, along with alot of exercise too. Not for the average owner id say you need to spend alot of time with them and I keep my boy indoors that's also good to build a good relationship. Loved this video great to see working dogs doing what they do best 💙
Do not get one. They need 2 hours of drill training to exhaust them to be somewhat calm. They are like on coke. Days I don't train mine he drives me insane. They are also smart and will destroy things on purpose if not given enough attention.
I have one named Mako. He's 4, and probs the most petlike mal u can ever meet. Don't get me wrong, he still gets bored and works a ton, he just knows when to calm down. He stops playing near older ppl and very young ones, but with me, he will literally get down and play like a dog! He's so pretty, too. Auburn and and when he stands up he's over 5'1, so he's like, the biggest mal ever. Pure muscle, and is as fast as a mako shark. I don't recommend this breed to first time owners or anything, and u should at least have 1 acre and 1 work place for them...I didn't get lucky. No one w this breed will, as they are literally land sharks. They can't be tamed or calmed down, they can't live in an apartment or in a house with a small yard, and they can't go without attention. Just do yourself a favor and don't get this dog if u arent around all day everyday with enough work and love for them. Morgan 11 Dueces
I learned something new about the Malinois: two different lines of Malinois. I knew one who was very much a show-liner, and he was the most popular dog in my small town. He had some puppies running around, too! He hung out with pitbulls, too, and they schooled him pretty well. He was a sweetheart.
Just make sure you have the time, energy to train this dog. It’s not for everyone. It’s not your typical lap dog. If you work more than 40 hrs a week. Make sure you have someone that can make time for them. I tell you I had a friend get one! Very very hard dog to train if not with right owner. My friend didn’t have time etc. Super difficult dog. Make sure you know what your getting into before getting it. Last thing you don’t want is that dog being put down. Hope this helps.

Good boy! Dozens of cities need you right now.
Ooooooooh
Hi
@@jenniferandcaleighaisbestf5144 My GSD gets 3h a day...... so Malinois is 2h enough?
@@nihonkokusai My two older Malinois (10-12) can deal with it when they only get two hours but the next few days, I would need to increase their activites. With my youngest (two and a half years old) there is no way that two hours would satisfy him. He'd go nutty. He likes to have activity from morning until evening. I agree whole heartedly with Dean Stephens, however, they are not good pets for anyone not familiar with the breed. I've had all sorts of working breeds in 50 years and the Malinois' needs and personality are very different than all of them.
2 hours?! People say 5! I’m so confused 😐
I have one at home, and while being a handful at times, she is the best, the smartest and the cutest, she cured my depression, she saved my life. Her high energy is contagious and will make any day get better.
Beautiful 😘😍
@@Animal-Watch Thank you, much love to you and your work
I have a malinois and this IS a very good dog and smart
This breed and the work they can do it’s unbelievable
These dogs are super special. 😍
A Husky,
Golden,
Black lab.
I'm super allergic to cats, and not a big fan of them ANYway. Lol
But dogs will always hold a special place in my heart.
They're just so GOOD❤️

Indeed, dogs, horses and other wonderful animals have served us for millenniums, and we are very fortunate to have them. 😡
No, these Malinowski come from aggressive bloodlines! They are not normally biting type dogs!!!!!
Now I have her puppies and will give them the happiest life I can 💖
Sorry for your lose😢

My neighbor has a Malinois. She's extremely smart and overall a lovely dog. But if I see how much effort my neighbor puts in to physically but also mentally train her ... that's not a dog for me even if I were unemployed.
TheNighthawk00 cudos for you for acknowledging how much work it is!
They do come everywhere with me, I've never understood people who don't spend time with their dogs
neptune. When they get older they stay with the military/policeman was in charge with them.
They are German Shepherds on speed! A breed that needs lots of mental and physical exercise.
Indeed! And they are called maligators for a reason. It's what you get when you cross a german shepherd with a gator, and give it a 6-pack of 5 hour energy.
I agree!
belgium malinois boffon
Everyone says this but my Malinois loves sleeping and won't go out in the rain. She's a princess.
She now had a back injury though and had paralysis, so she can't move too well... but you still can't stop the prey drive. She will drag herself across the grass to chase bunnies.
More like German Shepherds on Crack
Anneka, great video! I had a Belgium Malinois and she was the best. She passed away last year but she lived until she was 14.5 years old. She is now is doggy heaven.
Don't get one if you're not working the dog. Actually i can't recommend them for any person who "just want a dog".

SO FOCUSED! NOTHING could break that dog's concentration! Great training! Great dogs! Well done!
When you get a Belgian it's like heart and soul connections. I had 1 for 12 years what a joy he was, ill never forget him. 🇺🇸

That’s a perfect was to describe this dog.
@@JVonD88 Not really. That's what describes Terriers. High energy doesn't mean irresponsible - there is such a thing as a sense of responsibility in dogs too - especially shepherds, of all kinds. And Malinois, at their origin, are shepherds.
Florin Jurcovici I owned one...
I had an amazing MAL 7 years ago. He was unbelievable and I loved him dearly.
I was constantly training and working with him as my job and still, I was not even able to tire him completly.
I am very fit, super active, sportive and extremely disciplined person.
People always asked me how it was to own a Malinois and till this day, my answer is ALWAYS the same one: -''It was a full time job '', people would laugh at my answer, and I would look at them directly saying:
-'' Yeah ... not a joke my friend.
He is probably the dog in the best shape of our neighbourhood lol
There is not ONE week since i adopted him that is passing without me thinking:
-''Man it would of been a big mistake for me to adopt a Malinois now''.
PLEASE, trust me people:
you dont want a Malinois.
And you certainly dont want a Malinois as a pet.
They are more than what you think you can handle.
This is coming from someone who actually shared her life with one.
What breed did you get then?
A good story but however this is so interesting to know what is your new breed?
I think I’ll take this advice. I’ve been really into researching this breed and as I learned more about them the reality has set in and I’m a bit bummed to admit it but I definitely shouldn’t get one of these dogs. A good trained German Shepherd is more my speed.
This dog needs a tread mill in the house because you most likely won't have enough time to let him get all his exercises in
Please please please don't buy one as a pet. Popularity is worst that can happen to this wonderful breed.
Indeed.
True!!
Absolutely agreed! I'm so scared of the day the breed will be overbred and extremely healthy just to be "cuter"
we accidently bought one as you can see in my profile picture, we got told they were bred with malinois 8 generations back so it was apprebtly claimed as an pure gsd, but as we noticed when she got older her traits and cost was more like malinois than a gsd, which kinda made me upset since i love the german shepherds my absolute favorite bree, ahaha. but the breeders lied. and it may be like alooot of malinois in her. and her energy level is insane. i still love my little axie tho. shes an amazing dog.
The Snowman dogs are afraid of cats.
Maybe I could rent one for a week to trim all the low hanging tree branches on my property???
They love doing that

Why would they rent you a $20,000 to $60,000 fully trained dog?

These dogs are insane. I have one. He's incredible, but trust me. Don't get one if you don't have the time. They will wreck your house if you don't give them the time they need, daily.
😁🙋
How long can you leave them alone for?
Sometimes mixes are even more extreme. I have one mixed with Siberian husky, she can run and jump for hours and won't get tired :)
These dogs were brilliant in John Wick 3...a good example of them flexing their amazing capabilities!
Wow, just wow. So impressed with these beautiful creatures. I had one but these ones are a different category.
I have a friend who trains Belgian Malis, and one day he went out, they got out of the house and he came home to find all three on his roof. 😂

They were looking out for him🤣🤣
I had a black lab that would go on my roof, although she had a low patio cover she used to climb onto the roof. It sure looked funny seeing her chilling on the roof though!
@poppytw583😂😂😂😂😂

Yeah I have a GSD/Mal, great companion but very dominate and a bully to other dogs. Not for easily stressed or inactive people

Yes! I second that! Fantastic idea.

Belgian Malinois and german shepherd dogs are both amazing breeds! The Malinois have more drive and is more agil and faster.
They are also smart and will destroy things on purpose if not given enough attention.
literally have to run the energy out of them so they can stop being crazy. It's like a smart 3 year old that ate an entire pail of halloween candy.
I did not expect that lady to do the abseiling and then also with the dog. Big props!

I learned something new about the Malinois: two different lines of Malinois. I knew one who was very much a show-liner, and he was the most popular dog in my small town. He had some puppies running around, too! He hung out with pitbulls, too, and they schooled him pretty well. He was a sweetheart.
i love the Belgian Malinois i want one when i get older
Just make sure you have the time, energy to train this dog. It’s not for everyone. It’s not your typical lap dog. If you work more than 40 hrs a week. Make sure you have someone that can make time for them. I tell you I had a friend get one! Very very hard dog to train if not with right owner. My friend didn’t have time etc. Super difficult dog. Make sure you know what your getting into before getting it. Last thing you don’t want is that dog being put down. Hope this helps.
@@angelinagutarra5268 knowledge is far more important than time 3 to 4h of Training per day and you are good if you know what you are doing
@@malithemalinois1137 its worse than a CS wolfdog in excerise everyday 3-4h minimum hate to say I love Malis but, I dont have this much time.
Picking up my mal puppy in 4weeks..cant wait..
That's how I love energetic kids, when they are not mine nor my responsibility 😆
They are truly amazing

My friend is in the military along with his dog asmodeus (aptly named cause he has 6 confirmed kills) is the scariest but nicest dog I have ever seen. I feel like I have to salute him thats how badass he is.
