    Plasma Pistols into Tony Stark decks could be useful to help boost his hand size sooner/more reliably.

    You can include welcome aboard to give the cost reduction to a different player

    • @JohnQSpartan

      Yes, I think this is a key aspect of the card -- it works with all players. Very good multiplayer card, not as quite as good for solo play.

  • @dylanspeed

    Nice review, but I feel like you forgot that you can use the free wild resource with Grasping Tendrils during the villain phase, so you don't have to hope Strength comes out with it, and you only lose the one other card. A double stun for two cost is pretty good.
    I'll add that I got a lot of use out of Jarnbjorn when playing him on aggression. Combo'd well with Fussilade since Jarnbjorn doesn't need to exhaust to use it, and the free wild resource turned into the extra fist I needed to do that two bonus damage.

    Excited for Venom. He seems versatile enough to work with all aspects but I'm liking the justice card sonic rifle paired with his hero cards. Project rebirth is awesome and side holster looks like a good one to include for other weapon built heroes. Not so impressed with the allies included in this pack but overall another must-buy hero. Cheers.

    Locked and loaded also allows you to chase specific resources to allow you to qualify the bonuses as long as you built your deck accordingly.

  • @JJEMcManus

    I may be mistaken but I haven’t seen anyone refer to chump-support/chump-upgrades. I’ve been in circumstances where an encounter card causes me to have to discard one of the goodies I’ve worked so hard to get on the board. Helicarrier after just one use as a recent example. Crew Quarters is cheap, it does a little thing but it also protects more expensive things from hitting the discard pile.

    • @AllYouCanBoard
      @AllYouCanBoard  3 года назад +2

      Yeah, that's actually a really good point. If you're expecting to have to discard a support from play with a hero who relies on them a lot, Crew Quarters is an excellent target for that!

  • @Ddwlf27
    @Ddwlf27 3 года назад +3

    Not a huge fan of Fusillade with Venom because you are losing the ability of that weapon. It is okay with Rocket, but it really is best with weapons that don't exhaust like Jarnbjorn or drax's knives.
    Welcome aboard is essentially a double resource card only for allies. If you have a lot of allies and a bunch of them are basic, then yeah, it is a solid card instead of Power of Leadership. The MP uses are cool too.
    Shake it off is amazing with Drax.
    Overall, Venom is a very powerful and extremely versatile hero.

    • @AllYouCanBoard
      @AllYouCanBoard  3 года назад

      Yeah I hear what you're saying and it's a good point. I think what Fusillade does allow for with Venom is if you're in a situation where Multi-Gun's damage isn't enough, you can essentially up it to 5 for a turn to accomplish something you otherwise wouldn't be able to with it. But there are definitely other heroes that are better targets for including it!

  • @ToneeTales
    @ToneeTales 3 года назад +7

    Welcome aboard is similar to power of leadership/us all, except its limited to allies. The nice part is that it can be used for allies of any aspect, so in solo that means your basic and leadership. It is nice for a guardian tribal deck because all the guardian allies outside of star-lord are basic and expensive. It also works in multiplayer as you can help your teammates get allies for cheaper as well. There seems to be an effort recently to allow leadership more options to be support (regroup and welcome aboard) rather than the hardcarry. Is it really strong? no but I think it's good enough to include and encourage cooperation and leadership to offer support playstyles.

    • @justinvamp15
      @justinvamp15 3 года назад +4

      Yeah, I was about to comment that Welcome Aboard seems best in multi-player to let another player get the full 2 cost discount, especially if you would've had a leftover card in your hand anyway, which happens relatively often

    • @ToneeTales
      @ToneeTales 3 года назад +2

      @@justinvamp15 Good points. Ally discounts are also pretty impactful as they negate some of the negative tempo on a lot of the 3 health + allies that don't want to chump block by allowing the player another card that turn to deal with problems.

    I don't know a lot about Jack Flag. I vaguely remember Starlord rescuing him from somewhere he was being imprisoned, back before the Guardians morphed into their MCU versions, and Jack joining the Guardians and being grumpy about having to deal with 'cosmic stuff.'

    • @newtypehack

      He was imprisoned in the negative zone. If I'm remembering right, that was in the DnA Guardians run.

  • @fixeddice1982
    @fixeddice1982 3 года назад +1

    I'm only at Grasping Tentacles, so maybe you address this, but...: I LOVE Grasping Tentacles. If you have Spidersense, you get to draw a card, then cancel the villains attack. Venoms resource ability works every Phase so you only need one fist from hand to stun the villain. So you draw a card, cancel the attack, and stun the villain for a cost of 2 cards from hand and 1 HP. Which sets you up to stay in Hero form longer and dish damage.

    • @fixeddice1982
      @fixeddice1982 3 года назад

      Also, if you can get a helicarrier out his cards only require the Hero resource for the bonus effect as the entire cost has then been paid for via the required resource type.

    Something about Crew Quarters that’s easily missed (by solo players) is that it’s utility increases outside of solo. In a four player game, you would play this on the hero who is most likely to be in alter-ego form, and that player can opportunistically heal any other player who is also in alter ego without either player having to Recover.

    I like Welcome Aboard as another double resource card, albeit a very limited one. I hope we see more cost reducers like this in the future to support very specific deck types, I.e. an aggression card that reduces the next weapon played.

    I’m a little surprised he doesn’t have ammo counters. Essentially he has 3 weapon slots and 3 weapons, that just sit there, leaving him 1 slot from the Side Holster card in which he can “cycle” weapons with counters. Of course, I haven’t played him yet, but that doesn’t seem to call for a ton of weapon cards,?which was what I imagined for a 4 weapon slots hero. I’ll keep an open mind, but at this point Rocket seems like way more fun 🤔 Great video as always! 👍

    • @AllYouCanBoard
      @AllYouCanBoard  3 года назад

      Yeah I see what you're saying. From a deck-building perspective, you don't necessarily want to include a whole ton of weapons because they're going to reach a bottleneck where you can't play anymore without discarding one. But I do like how this makes him unique and different from other weapon users too. Thanks for watching!

    "Welcome Aboard" is basically another way to play Power of Leadership, but also with any grey allies or allies pulled from other decks using "Make the Call." That said, I don't know that I'd bother with it except for very specifically built decks for specific encounters with specific players using specific aspects.
    "Shake it Off" is gonna go great with "Bait and Switch."

  • @chauveet
    @chauveet 3 года назад

    I think you might be undervaluing Welcome Aboard just a little bit. It is more flexible than the Power of Leadership as it applies to all basic Allies.
    The end effect is that it's basically another double resource that just pays for allies, not something a sneeze at.

    WRT Grasping Tendrils Like you I've found you generally only need 1 Strength Resource from a card as you can use Symbiotoc Bond to generate a * Resource. 1 Damage and 1 Resource to Stun the Villain or Minion is pretty good value IMO.

    I have not got him yet as I've been playing other things but I was drooling over the wild resource from the start :) . Jack Flag might be too slow like Luke Cage is. Helicarrier plus Symbiotic Bond pays for any of the events that care about resources. Confused is great, it's good Concussive Blow has some competition. Alter ego is better than Hero most of the time, except for the threat on the main scheme and confused sorts that out (mostly). Guardians of Justice can get a LOT of confuse effects now. I plan to try a protection never defend build to try to double dip on symbiotes and to heal that damage :)

    It seemed you were comparing Savage Attack to 3-cost hero attacks (Pinpoint Strike, Swinging Web Kick) instead of 2-cost attacks (Root Stomp, Venom Blast). Savage Attack is on par with other 2-cost heroic attack events, albeit with a less exciting kicker than some.

    • @tangmcgame

      Yeah, he definitely doesn’t have those huge number cards. But instead of a 3-cost, 8 damage event he gets Run and Gun, which adds up to a lot of damage and thwart after he’s built. It seems he’s all about flexibility and versatility at the expense of big swings.
