    Adam Warlock is a beast if you use him correctly. Unlike the Hulk ally, Adam's card comes from your hand, so you can, as you say, end up mostly controlling which card gets discarded and thus which bonus you'll get. Just play out the rest of your hand before you use him. Also, it's not a "Forced Response", so if you just absolutely had to use him but didn't want to risk losing a good card, you can always opt to ignore the bonus. He also pairs well with Peter's Alter-Ego ability.

    • @fixeddice1982

      Hulk ally's ability isn't a guess either if you use Peter Quill's ability to stack the top card...

    • @Webhead123
      @Webhead123 3 года назад +1

      This is true. Quill + Hulk would be a good combo. Adam's more reliable though, since any hero can sort of "game" his ability if needed...and none of his bonuses negatively impact the heroes, unlike the Hulkster.

      @@Webhead123 Fair enough. I think Adam is going to be amazing. Even if you don’t manipulate your hand 1 resource for 3 is a magnificent payout. 1 resource for 3 healing is I believe the most efficient healing per cost in the game.

    I am definitely not as high on Star-Lord as you are. His power level really hinges on the scenario. He is great vs weaker villains/mod sets, but once you get to some of these tougher villains with nasty encounter cards and brutal mod sets (along with the expert set), then adding encounter cards becomes a lot more dicey. His ability is still good, especially on allies, but cards like Daring Escape become a liability. Honestly, I think he is best just going all in on a expensive Leadership deck as his ability, Leader of the Guardians, and being able to play guardians cards on non-guardians makes him an excellent platform for those type of decks.
    One of the decks I really like SL with is attachment Leadership as he can play Laser Blaster/Comms Implant on IM/Ronin. Yondu is also really good in that kind of deck as you can easily get him to 3 atk. Target Practice is decent as 0 for 2 is good, but honestly it wasn't good enough and just didn't make the cut (rather just play more attachments).

    • @AllYouCanBoard
      @AllYouCanBoard  3 года назад

      Yeah that's one of the things with Star-Lord, he varies a lot with which scenario you're playing and how nasty the encounter cards. I wonder how much this will affect you negatively against Ronan, especially solo. Could be a disaster waiting to happen lol.

      Agreed, based on my limited playtesting so far Star Lord is a win more hero to style on easy villains with, but once you get to someone hard with a bad encounter deck he gets punished hard for leaning into getting extra encounter cards.

    Just a note, on Adam Warlock, he can always heal himself, so the absolute WORST case scenario is you ATK/THW down to 2 health and then heal back to 3, but that's almost never going to be the case. And honestly every heal for 1 on him is another potential 3 damage/thwart, so it's not even THAT big of a waste.

    • @DMWaldo
      @DMWaldo 3 года назад

      @@charlesbaldwin3166 Agreed, Spider-woman's synergy isn't all that strong, but it is kind of fun. It also allows her to not just look at an encounter card, but decide if she wants to discard it or not using Cosmo, effectively replacing it with another card, which of course... could be a worse card. Again, interesting and kind of fun. Strange is already considered almost brokenly good, and giving him another way to cycle through his incredibly powerful invocation deck while also allowing Cosmo to never take consequential damage (while thwarting no less, making him the only ally so far who can do that) is pretty strong. I hope Cosmo finds some other neat niches with some scenarios or heroes. What about the experimental weapon deck in Crossbones? I don't think that has its own discard pile, so I'm not sure if that one actually works or just backfires and places them in the normal encounter discard pile. Which seems.... bad. Could be some fun uber Cosmo builds awaiting!

    Even in the comics when the Guardians of the Galaxy used a ship as their mobile headquarters it wasn’t known as the Milano. The unnamed ship that became the current base of operations for the Guardians was introduced in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 #0.1 in April 2013. It wasn’t until Howard the Duck Vol 5 #2 where the name of the ship was revealed. And what did the crafty bunch come up with to name their mobile home and arsenal? Few more points to Blaze of Glory that make it really good and incredibly interesting to use that you skipped over.
    It synergizes really well with Star Lords own cards, Jet Boots and Daring Escape.
    You can prevent the 1 damage from Blaze of Glory in the player phase with jet boots and still have boots ready in the villain phase. That also adds an encounter card though, but that can give you an extra card in hand, and also boost the effects of other cards, you play afterwards.
    Same goes for Daring Escape. You can ready yourself and do a double attack/thwart with +2 - again you get an encounter card but that's also an extra hand size and potentially a boost to your other cards that benefit from encounter cards.

  • @darrylblake9680
    @darrylblake9680 2 года назад

    I guess I'll have to give him another go. The first few times - I was using his ability. But the extra encounter cards that kept coming out became a hinderance more than a positive of getting a card for 3 less. So I tried playing him without using his ability and was never able to get anything going with him.
    Only ever played him with friends - 2-3 players. We all gave him a try and I don't know if it was the bad luck of the draw, the villain we were battling. But StarLord became that wild card that was constantly throwing wrenches into what we were trying to do and felt more like a nuisance than a teammate.
    He is another of the characters that we have yet to win with. But having said all that, your comment, "Use his ability every turn" to get those high cards into play, I guess is the difference? Really, really lean into that ability. So I'm gonna try that and see how it goes.

    Got Gamora to the table, will need to try StarLord now. As for which one is better, going to have to wait and see which one can beat Ronin solo because atm he seems nearly impossible. Awesome to see aerial finally getting some attention and opening up some more deckbuild options. Divebomb seems like a good burst damage card for Starlord though a bit situational. Cosmo=Junk as you might as well play Yondu if you want a constant 1 ping damage source with less RNG/requirements. Impressed that FFG can keep making unique themed heroes.

      It is funny how initial impressions of card play can be way off. After since reading some of the strategies people are comming up with Cosmo and Dr. Strange it seems there can be some interesting synergies that makes cards stronger than they first appear to be. Even with Yondu if you manage to get any upgrades on him to boost his attack dmg then his non-consequential damage and range attributes start to really seem powerful. The game and the community continues to impress me.
