Sehr berührende Emotionalität, die dieses Stück und diese Darstellung versprüht. Ich höre Glass sehr gerne, aber das hätte ich nicht von ihm erwartet!

Fine music, reminiscent of Thomas Ades's "In Seven Days" piano concerto. Also, of John Adams in some of the textures and harmonic vocabulary, and in that Dessner uses Minimalism as a starting place, not a strict doctrine. It's not any kind of copy, though - Dessner's melodic sense is different from either man's, he rarely uses their characteristic figures, and there are quite a few passages that neither would have come up with. It's more a matter of similar aesthetics and a similar musical vocabulary. There's also a certain amount of borrowing from pop music's urgency and simplicity of means - while there's nothing "dumbed down" here, it's no surprise that his day job is as a rock musician.

Another wonderful concert for which I am very thankful, especially cool to see the Labeque sisters in action again: I have a stunning version of the Bartok by them. So much for the good news. It has been said before but I gently say it again. However great the performances and music, you do yourselves, your audience and above all the composer a huge disservice by NOT providing any information on the composer and composition, performance etc. WDR Sinfonie Orchester and Orchestre Phil du Radio France do it for instance, so can why can't you?. Dessner and Lindberg etc write some great stuff but are hardly household names and THEY would be very grateful (just like your listeners) if you could help by providing some info. It would increase the number of people who listen and also their enjoyment. Thanks for your consideration. PS Even in German !! PPS Just in case, will make the same request for ML!!

Dessner's more of a household name than you might think: His day job is playing lead guitar in The National - his brother Aaron's rock band - and writing some of their music. And while they're not on a par with Beyonce or Elton John for recognition, they're not obscure, either.

@@Baribrotzer thank you. virtues can be tricky. some of us are actually wanting civic platforms to serve civic populations for reasons having less to do with identity popularity sales etc and more to do with imagined duty to what w once imagined as the commons. but perhaps duty is as old fashioned as danger ...

This isn't Wikipedia. The composer is the first word in the video's title, anyone can just google him.

Please watch this at the lowest quality only (144p) since it's just for the music, which is much more ecologically responsible than at a higher rate. Watching this at 240p (which is unnecessary for listening purposes), will increase the bandwith by double to almost tenfold! At 1080 the bandwith is augmented by a factor of 100!
The use of digital technology accounts for 4% of the world's greenhouse gas emissions, as much as the emissions from the world's truck fleet. Of that, a BIG part comes from livestreaming videos, mainly 3 sources : RUclips, Netflix and porn.
Let's enjoy this beautiful music by being aware and responsible, doing our little part in decreasing our carbon footprint and protecting this wonderful planet for the generations to come.

Thank you very much for intense musical experience. It helped my soul... And please, don´t put those masks on, they are very unhealthy to wear.
