Lyrics:
Please don't mind what I'm trying to say 'cause I'm, I'm being honest
When I tell you that you
You're part of the reason I'm so set on the rest of my life
Being a part of you
You tell me what you think about being open,
About being honest with yourself
'Cause things will never be the same.
So I guess I'll see you, I'll see you around
I'm spinning while I'm falling down
Now you know why I'm begging you to stay
And don't waste time getting to the point, 'cause I'm, I'm patiently waiting
For your next phone call, your next excuse for losing sleep again
Tell me what you think about being open,
About being honest with yourself
This song was stuck in my head the first day of 9th grade in 2006. Such good times.
Same here. Goddamn I miss highschool
Such good song
I hate that I was 5 years old when the peak of music and culture was happening. I was completely oblivious to the world around me while I sat on the floor watching Tom & Jerry playing with legos 😭
Take me back to that time. I remember walking to 9th grade and listening to this on my iPod. What an era to be alive
that's so cute
Never understood why this band wasn't bigger than they are.....excellent music
Long time fan here:
they weren't mainstream or really successful because most of the songs are written from the perspective of the singer and not from the perspective of the listener.
I like "Deep South" a lot but I cannot relate to the meaning of the song at all.
That's kind of where the "issue" lies.
Yes, the music is good, but the meanings are not relatable to a broader audience.
A lot of their songs are about falling out with women as well. The singer is insanely attractive and probably has access to a lot of women. Again, not relatable to a broad audience.
This is essentially why a low effort song about breaking up with someone can be more popular than a cartel song about breaking up: cartel music is more personal to the singer rather than being relatable to a broad audience.
@@poisenbery Some of that definitely has its truth. I've read stuff where Will Pugh, the vocalist, says that there were some major label problems that led to them not get the airplay they were basically guaranteed to get. Altpress did an article on it about 6 years ago I believe.
Because All Time Low was already a band and already had this sound.
@@koreyjohnson5287All Time Low came around the exact same time as Cartel, I don't think you can credit them
@@koreyjohnson5287 Their sound isn't really all that similar, and Cartel were and still are way better than ATL lol
1. Ugh, the girl in the white long sleeve still SENDS me
2. They predicted the irony of online dating vs. Real connection in 2007???
Y'all I saw Cartel perform this a few days ago and THEY STILL GOT IT!!! The opened with Honestly and we were so wild, they did an encore of Honestly again. Amazing.
That's Uber kewl! So jelly
Uper Kwel!@!! EXC DEEE!!!!
I swear, I spent so many years looking for this song.
Such a BANGER. Who’s here in 2021

This is seriously one of the most perfect teen songs ever!
That feel when you will never waste your summers indoors watching fuse all day ever again
You just brought back so many memories
Ya really tho! Being an adult blows.
Fuse now sucks.
:(
Fuse used to be so good!
i just looked it up, sounds like a very cool channel. sadly i never heard of it in my country
I’m 27 now and I ain’t ashamed I banged this in middle school skating everyday! Lol these alternative boy band songs will forever have a spot in my heart
Also 27 and still bang this from a mix CD on my ipod
Lmao same here and still banging it 😂
Giving me huge Cartel vibes. They were my favorite band in the mid 2000s. Great sound
I love that this video shows how awkward and difficult it was to take a good selfie in 2006.
Did I miss out on some revolutionary technology? My selfies still come out shit.
Carlos Quiroz. Yeah. It’s called FaceTune
DA VIEWZ 👀
Before the smart phone. This video was recorded in 2005.
3 guitars I like it, stereo sound.
I’ve spent the last 2 days digging into the deepest recesses of my memory banks to bring this song back into my life. Worth it
i remember being a kid maybe 8-9 years old. waking up every morning before school watching mtv and falling in love with music. this was one of my favorite bands back then and i recently found the old cd which futures this song. music is eternal.
its a shame that not many people know of cartel because theyre a great band. first heard in 2007 and still love them today
i was 6 in 2007 so listening to them then wasnt really an option for me. So glad I know them today though.
Sophia Iqbal
that's all that matters :)
I'm one of those people who felt proud for having them in my back pocket before they got noticed. Been a die-hard fan since right around The Ransom. The first songs I ever heard were the demos to "Burn This City" and the epic "Save Us", before they made it a full band track. I'll never forget hearing Will hit those crazy high notes during the chorus, probably while surfing MySpace, chatting up the honeys on AIM, snapping pics on my digital camera, and blogging on my Xanga page. Those were simpler times for sure. 2005, now you know why I'm begging you to stay.
I first heard in summer of ‘07 and they did something with Dr. Pepper and made a album in a glass house or something on MTV
@@sophiaiqbal7137I wasn’t alive in 07 😭
The cuts and editing during the bridge are perfection. Really builds.
I miss MySpace
I heard this in a Hot Topic recently and it brought be back
man the universe has just brought me back. I love a serious variety of music; I was missing this. Cheers ya'll, I hope you're doing well! myspace or die!
10 years later and I still know this album word for word.
GeminiEye1 haha same
GeminiEye1 LEON?
of course ^_^
Right there with ya. Singing along right now
Same.
Who else is binge watching old emo music videos?
I forgot about so much good music till I go on an old 2000s emo binge
Punk*
Mind your business! @(>.
@MemesAreDreams More like Emo-Pop (Emo + Pop-punk)
I'd say this is definitely more Pop-punk for sure.
But seriously, who cares? Just enjoy the trip down Memory Lane :')
Every damn day
Soundtrack of the mid-2000s!!
Used to listen to this song on my iPod nano! Anyone listening in 2024?
Cartel is back
Man 2000-2009 was such a good time period for music.
***** Hmmm, care to refresh my memory as to what was hot back then?!!
Danielle lee yes!!!
Joe Willard All pop-punk/pop-rock. You had Blink, Sugarcult, Weezer and those kinds of bands really hit it off in the beginning of the decade, then you had more pop-punk stuff like Fall Out Boy's sophomore album that hit either 2004-2005, then younger bands like All Time Low, Cartel, Boys Like Girls, We the Kings, Cute is what we aim for, All American Rejects, etc. It kind of tapered off by 2010 when those young bands came out with other albums (ATL's Nothing Personal in 2009, BLG's Love Drunk in 2010). Thus, the end of an era.
Ryan Primrose haha thanks, I was referring to what was hot back in 1876 tho. But I am a fan of most of those bands!
oh haha I guess I got really into actually conceptualizing that there was an era of that awesome music. I'd have to say Brahms, Dvorak and Wagner were the big guns around that time!!
12 years later still the same emo kid listening to amazing music 🖤🖤🖤🖤
This video was 20 years ahead of its time
As a 21 yr old, wish I was in high school when this banger came out 😂
i was 15 when this song came out im now 32

Miss being a kid. When life was easy!
this video needs way more views
You know it!
Bruh so happy I found d this song after like a decade
Who else got the sudden urge to listen to this..?
Cartel came on at work today and I imediately freaked out and screamed "OMG ITS CARTEL I LOVE THEM" and scared the customer.
I was 17 when this came out. God look at those computers, lol Myspace was the shit back then. Nostalgia trips are fun sometimes.
Brandon Conforto Holy shit your right . I remember owning a Vaio that was sorta flat screen. This video sorta took the 99' version of computer .
Snow Anaya I was 21. Awesome time to be that young, and yes I miss it SO BAD!
Man, this came out in my early 20s and I saw this video and was like “this is the shit!” I’m 38 now and this album is on heavy repeat on Spotify for me.
'84 squad
It just makes me want to jump up and down. Classics never get old ◇
this really was the peak myspace era lmao
I feel so fortunate to have grown up in this era, there will never be anything like it!
This came out when I was in middle school or high school. Anyone else still listening to this banger in 2024?
I've been looking for this video for 8 years. I can die happy now.
Music video is low key deep.
It demonstrates how people in the online social sphere seem to have more confidence online than off.
The main characters in the video have no problem being themselves and they seem to make a connection with someone, but once they find that person IRL, they seem to have no idea how to act and they shy away instead.
Everyone who was happy in the first half is visibly frustrated with themselves at the end of the video, and the connections they seemed to have almost made are lost in the sea of thousands of users.
That was the point. So many of us lost who knows who/ and or what. Bc we were uncomfortable in our own skin
It really isn’t that deep.
I like this new generation of Music.
What’s crazy is that I’ve been a fan of Cartel for a while and idek that they are from Conyers, Georgia, which is where I’m from. If anyone knows anything about Conyers or grew up in Conyers like me, everyone knows it’s extremely rare for a band like this to come from there, let alone a pop punk masterpiece like this and their debut album.
Hank
How did I forget about this song when I loved it so much as a kid 🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️
03-2010 is the best time for music. I was in 4th-10grade and it was awesome having great music to grow up on. Truly can say it was that music that makes me want to pursue music and give the future generations the same feeling that I had as a kid
any 2022 listeners?
2024
Yes!
Good ol' 2000's music how I miss you
People think writing hooks is simple. Pop sensibly is far from easy. This band has so many layers.
LOL! They are taking selfies with an actual camera! I miss these times so much! :(
Mindy Cooper I sure don’t. So inconvenient
I'm 30 and I still love this song.
I remember watching them preform this live and screaming it and I still get the same feeling every time I listen to this song 🥹❤️
I thought of this song for years and I was watching John Tucker Must Die and this played in the movie. I looked up the soundtrack and found this. Thank god.
It saddens me that the kids of today will never truly know the awesomeness that was myspace.
I was a kid when MySpace around and are we really forgetting how bloated and slow MySpace was?? There was a reason why we stopped using it
instgram return of scene queens lol
Kevin you must have had a old computer
My pc would load up quick! And my connection was legit.
Loading up?Myspace with my favorite song on to start it off who i am 👍🏼💯🤘🔥
The nostalgia! Ahhh
People still listening to this certified banger from the 2000s?
The 2000s I miss you
Cartel is one of my favorite bands. Always picked me up when I was down.
This would be my favorite era of music if I had been in high school when it was popular, but sadly I was like...3-5. I can only listen now and think what would've been.
Me too haha if only
it was awesome in highschool!
this was my high school music
shit same
I was 8 yrs old but sadly i don't know what good music was before
This music video perfectly captures what a part of life was like as a teenager in high school or college in 2004-2005. MySpace was king, we all logged onto our huge ass computers as soon as we got home from school/work, selfies had to be done with a digital camera instead of your phone (and weren't even called selfies but rather just "pics"), we all used AIM or MSN to instant message people, etc.
Now, we have Facebook which has become so annoying and TOO connected. Social media is less fun and plagued with political and social justice (ugh). The only good things in this generation are Instagram and Snapchat which are the only things I use.
But if they brought back the old MySpace from 2007, I'd be on it again in a heartbeat.
omg you hit the nail on the coffin with that post, that is exactly how I remembered my last year of high school.
Same here I remember going into 9th grade in 2006 and having this song stuck in my head all day. I used to listen to it on MSN lol thanks for the comment man. brought me back to the good days
+ARMOR15 This made me so sad. D: This was one of my favorite songs back then. Lol I was a 6th grader. Back when life seemed simple.
The one thing I hated were the cringey ass usernames in AIM like xXxDark_KnightxXx and shit LOL
+Fresh Like Rezh Omg yeah! I cringe thinking about it. Mine was MzEmoPrep or something to do with a Princess. Embarrassed beyond words lol 😅
Pop punk for life.
Dude! This melody popped in my head recently and for the life of me I couldn't remember the name of the song. So satisfying to finally find it lol
Who would have thought that Cartel would be telling the future of how our society interacts?
Saw these guys in concert in 2013 with New Found Glory. ❤️
Same!
@@beckyz7232 They were awesome! Such a great show! Lucky us!
I was in middle school when this came out ♥️🫶🏼✨ here in 2024
Here in 2022 and this song still holds up!!!
This song is obviously amazing, but this video idea couldn't have matched the song any better. Perfectly presents the feelings of meeting new people online. When meeting people online was new, most crowds frowned upon it, but this video is a good example of how intimate such encounters are really like. And I'm sure this also captures just how nerve wrecking those encounters can be when presented face-to-face.
Awww man I remember hearing this song years ago...
2023 and I still listen to Cartel. I was born in 2000 and I missed they're prime, id do anything to see them live today
i was born in 1990 and love this song
I used to listen to this constantly on my mp3 player because I would download whatever my sister listened to. Brings me back to when I was 11/12
this music video really dates us. Like, who gets on a physical PC anymore aside from work? This is how some people met, try explaining this to our children.
King of the hill bussin
I'm listening to this in 2023. Anyone else?
no
This whole CD is epic! It was one of the focal points of the soundtrack to my Summer 2006!
What a Summer, hey! I'll never forget it, driving round listening to bands like this. 😊
I was in 11th grade when this song came out lol 😂
The pure nostalgia and beauty of this song makes me wanna tear up
Guiltiest pleasure ever
It’s 2024 and I just remembered this song and remember the absolute obsession I had with this song and video!
Criminally underrated.
One of the great lost songs of mid-2000s!!!
one of the best pop-punk tunes ever!
We’re reviving our music let’s go
This song pops into my head all the time. Love it.
Sang this at an outside karaoke in Little tokyo with a girl I always had a crush on since like fourth grade. She had never heard me sing and she enjoyed it so much that she saved the video . Still one of the best memories I have.
I remember I would listen to this on repeat.
I remember seeing this the first time on xbox 360 as the artist of the month...seems like forever ago
Classic and 2020 Is A Month Away and I'M STILL Listening To This Music!
Man this brings me back to MySpace. Profile song, background, Tom, Top 8… nostalgia.
God I feel so bad for the bassist. Internally he’s like * there’s 3 guitarsist no ones ever gonna hear me*
I mean the singer is hardly playing his guitar so that's one down lol
In the original music video Will Pugh, the singer, was wearing a green and white striped shirt and didn't have a guitar in his possession at all.
And then they made sure you heard him a lot.
I once saw a comment that said this band needs more guitars and I've never been the same since 😂
Director: How many contemporary 2006 elements do you want this video to have?
Producers: YES
Did I do this stupid meme right?
Ugh😩 why can't music be like this anymore I swear the best period time when music was actually was good😍
Been lokking 4 this song since I was in middle school 6th grade, and finally found it. Memories are coming back of epicness
That boy has some lungs on him. Very very talented
Wow these guys were my first concert way back when! Time flies.
I'm seeing Cartel tonight for the first time and if they don't play this, the middle school past me will die a little.
so did they???
One of my all time favorites
Such an amazing song. Will never get old.
anyone remember when MTV did the "Band in a Bubble" show with Cartel?
Dr peppers band in a bubble
Kelly Burroughs I was just thinking about this!
***** i loved that idea. And they did it so well. It's a shame that was the one and only band in a bubble.
yes!! that was a big mistake.
Yesss
