I often think about how it's the same moon as it has been since the dawn of the species, and imagine the number of people and animals that have looked up and wondered in awe a the moon and stars.
Something many of us take for granted in the New World, also known as the Western Hemisphere, is the time it took in Europe, Africa and Asia.............. many, many centuries .............millenia really ............ for invention, development, business, industry, and education to reach its present level in the modern World. This video could have represented 200 years ago, and if you took away a few simple tools from the scene, it could have been 2000 years ago. People have persevered through weather and environmental challenges, natural calamities, famine, drought, disease, illness, accidents, war, crime, insurrections, raids, terrorism, ignorance, arrogance, insults, abuse, and community, family, personal challenges and difficulties and even strife, plus too many other things for me to think of right now to get the World and Society and Humanity to where it is today, but we often take that for granted. To me, this video represents all good people everywhere trying to overcome all that, in the symbolism of a simple ceremony on the edge of the freezing and dark Arctic representing hope, inspiration, and faith over the millenia.
Today we celebrate Santa Lucia in Sweden. It is a tradition of light. It is celebrated with a procession of girls in white gowns bearing candles, led by one who represents Lucia with a crown of candles on her head. It has always been one of my favorite holidays in the 20+ years that I have lived in Sweden.🙂
There are usually both men and women in the procession. And yes, it's also one of my favourite things to celebrate, it's so beautiful with the lights and the music!
This tradition reminds me of the Diwali festivities in India (which also celebrate the light that will come after the fall and winter with candles and offerings). How closely bound by nature we once were to observe her cycles and celebrate her many aspects. We need to get close again or we will lose ourselves in this artificial world!
I find it fascinating that the celebration comes from stories that were told by Monks who first brought Christianity to Sweden. St Lucia was a young Christian girl who was martyred, killed for her faith, in 304.
@@maryanne8395 Very interesting! Also, the fact that "Luci" is a root for light (for example, Lucifer, the light bearer) is very interesting given that the tradition celebrates light bearing in the female form. Beautiful!

Hi from Lucia ;) I found this very interesting, that you also celebrating Lucia day. In Slovakia we also have it, it is just a little bit different. Girls ( Lucias) are brushed with flour to be white and carrying a feather. They go from house to house to sweep corners with the feathers and get rid of the bad spirits. It used to be quite a tradition, now unfortunately its dying out. They also carried lights when they were going to houses. They were also considered to be kind of witches, so I am always laughing that I am a good witch ;) I have to say I love your celebration and I am really happy to be called this name ;) xxxxx Greetings from Slovakia xxx

Joseph Campbell said everyone should invite beauty into their lives and let it seep into their pores and for me Jonna's content is how I invite beauty into my life. Your content feels like an ecstatic arrest, a portal to the flow state where you don't feel passage of time anymore. Thank you for existing my friend. Greetings from India 🤍
Thank you. I'm a huge fan of your videos, and your way of living, it's so natural and because of that, so magical. I don't know if you have ever realized how big gift and blessing you and your videos are for us other people. It's so heartwarming, seeing that there are some people, who still celebrate this way!
So I just wanted to say thank you!!
I have missed the Sankta Lucia ceremonies for years! I worked in Swedish and Danish churches. The joy and the excitement in the community for December 12th was real! I would host a smorgasbord at my home.
I live in Italy in the north Po river plains and i haven't seen snow for years. I love snow and the typical northern landscapes so i am sitting here watching your amazing videos and dreaming to be a forest elf...
It's that time again! My favourite by far of all holidays! Every year you do a Lucia video, you never fail to amaze us with beautiful images and music! Love from Romania!
So symbolic. You are full of light Jonna. Please keep sharing it ✨✨✨💛
Beautifully done, Jonna!! 😍 It looks like the wind was cooperating this year 😊 🕯 I hope you're both feeling better by now. 🙏 Be safe and stay warm. Warm hugs from Chicago!
Tears...so beautiful
Världens finaste lucia!!❤🌟
Thank you, Jonna for this magic birthday gift!!! I so love this song: Emmanuel...I am born on December the 13th. this time of the year is very special to me because in all the dark hours more than in the rest of the year it is easier to connect with our inner light, which shines so bright, brighter than all the candles and christmas lights everywhere 💫🌟✨
Happy Birthday!
You move like a dancer in the dark night. The world needs your Light right now. Thank you, beautiful Jonna. ❤️ ❤️ 🇺🇸 USA
After dinner tonight I showed this, and your Lucia video from 3 years ago, to my parents. They were nearly in tears. They thought it was beautiful and made them very sentimental for the years they lived in Europe. Thank you, Jonna!
Light is celebrated in almost all the civilizations.... But this is out of the world
My personal favourite ❤😊love and light.
Ethereal and beautiful as always ❤ Thank you for all of the comfort your videos bring! You truly have an amazing soul.
Since I subscribed to your channel, I look forward to December 13 and Saint Lucia every year. It's a date that we don't know in France and that I discovered with you. What you do every year is wonderful and requires so much effort. Thank you for your moments of beauty, poetry and sharing. Your country is an enchantment for me. Friendships
You have to appreciate the dark to see the beauty of light🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️
Thank you... The best wishes and love for you too!! 💖
The stars would not shine without the darkness.
Jonna, you are my definition of 'mindfulness'. Thank you for helping me find my inner peace again when it was lost
I feel like I can survive the winter due to you and your videos 🤍🤍🤍 it’ so calming and magical ✨
I so look forward to seeing this every winter. It is a beautiful ritual. And you always do it with such grace.💖🌟
Ya Allah 🙏🤲🙏, Make our lives beautiful with Lights and happiness
The BEST thing I can watch while having breakfast and beginning a new day.
Wishing the light be with you 🙏
And thank you for your work! 🫂
I love your Lucia videos so much! They remind me of my childhood, when a girl in my class who was Swedish would dress in a white dress with a candle crown and bring sweet bread to share. I was always fascinated by this and looked forward to it every year. We live in Canada but her parents were from Sweden. Lots of love & light to you, Johan & your team there during this holiday season! ❤️🎄
So magical, so beautiful!!! You’re pure light Jonna, blessings for you, Johan and Nanook. Sin la oscuridad no podríamos ver la magia de las estrellas…❤️⭐️✨ gracias por tu magia.
The dark makes us feel vulnerable enough to share our most deepest secrets of who we are.
Merry Christmas and God bless this holiday season and throughout the new year.
Chwała Chrystusowi, Żywemu Światłu Miłości, który swoim Przyjściem i Narodzeniem, prawdziwie rozświetlił mroki ziemi. Przyjdź Jezu i rozświetlaj mroki naszych serc, abyśmy umieli kochać Ciebie i bliźnich, aby na świcie panował Pokój i Jedność w Tobie☺ Maranatha! 😇
Amen❤
Amen indeed!❤
I love your beautiful, personal tribute to the Santa Lucia tradition and how you share it with us every year 🤍
I live in northern Minnesota and love winter, it's so peaceful and that's what I feel watching this! My family is from Sweden and I hope to visit it someday. 🖤
It is magical. Its something I dream off
Such a Little Girl - like all girls, dreamed of when she could walk in the woods with her crown of lights.

This is so beautiful. Thank you
Summer will come. We’re in the dark. We’re planted. One day we’ll see the sunlight and feel the happiness ❤
Hello Johnna! I was just reading today in my Advent reading, It said it was the feast day for Saint Lucia. The reading explained her mission of bringing light by burning candles into the many hours of darkness, and how each country celebrated her feast day from Sweden, Iceland, Germany, the Netherlands etc... What a beautiful tribute to Saint Lucia by bringing this glorious bright light into the darkness. Much love and light to you and your family during this time.❤️
amen..........
Best wishes to you and those you love. Thank you for bringing the light of the Solstice to us. You and your work.. videos and talks are truly a beacon in the darkness.
To you too, Jonna! Have the coziest, most amazing Lucia!

I love the way you turned your music from “O come o come Emmanuel” to old Norse/Viking chants! Absolutely brilliant!!
