lentil soup is my favourite, I'll be making a fresh pot of it tomorrow! I make it with potato, carrot, onion and chicken stock, and also sometimes turnip (swede) and peas. My other favourite soups are tomato, and carrot and parsnip. I've already recently started making sweet potato, apple and carrot (I have quite the sweet tooth!).

It never occurred to me that a culture so dependent on eating lentils wouldn't have a soup recipe that they would call traditional. Really surprising to me.

we in the US are so used to a torrent of foods from other cultures .. and then the synthesis' that happen to make still more foods and spices etc.

Lentils are a secret with athletes and bodybuilders; they raise the protein of food without changing the taste very much; so you can add them to everything ;)

if you guys like clam chowder yous should try corn chowder soup..its like clam chowder but with corn..if you like corn.. its a tasty soup

They would enjoy split pea and Ham soup. I encourage you to try to find some heavily smoked Halal ham for it so it has the true traditional flavor. There are also recipes for split pea soup that are meat-free but traditionally it has ham in it. And please, wait to try soup recipes until the winter time, unless these have been pre-recorded during soup weather and you are just putting them up now...

Lentils are used a great deal in india and Pakistan and other places . I love lentils.

Yes, easy and delicious to make at home, with any extra veggies and spices you care to add. Lentils are like a blank canvas; you can take them in just about any direction you'd like. No need to puree if you don't have a blender, though its a nice touch if you do.
