    You gave me the confidence to chop my like...2 foot tall wonky AF money tree down and try restart the base and prop the top. Even though mine is tossing out babies, it just grew with a gangster lean and isnt loving life no more.
    But now, it gets a fresh start!

    Thank you so much for your first video and now this follow-up video on chopping your pilea plant in half then showing what to do with the cutting. Watching the video and hearing your play-by-play was very helpful. My pileas have grown so much that they look like 15" palm trees! I've had luck in the past with grafting cuttings from the stem and getting them to root in water then planting them in soil, but I didn't know that I could chop my tall pileas in half. Here I go!

    Hi. Awesome that you now have 2 plants 😊. The cupping and tears on the leaves probably are due to lack of water. Just thought I’d let you know. Mine was doing the same and when I started to add more water it started to look so much better. Notice how your plant in waters is so plump? Thank you for this video 😊

    Hi I wouldn’t remove those pups from main stem but I suppose you could experiment with them….I’d wait until the pups grow in the soil and even then wait until they look like your friends rehab plant before removing them. I purchased one with a ton of babies and chopped up the plants into three pots. I eventually chopped a leggy one off and it immediately popped new plants in the soil. I put my chopped one back into the same pot after it developed roots. It’s doing fine…now the other two plants have long long stems so I’m going to propagate them in water as I did the first time. I’m going with clear plastic pots because I think they like plastic better than terracotta although I like the clay I don’t think it works out for this plant.

  • @isleeptillnoon5256
    @isleeptillnoon5256 2 года назад +3

    The mother plants pot was too big, that's why you originally didn't get any pups. It's spending all that time filling the pot with roots instead of pups...once it does that, then you'll see some new babies coming out of the soil. They have super fine roots, so you really don't need a big pot.

    Congrats on the new pups. It looks like an alien plant with the huge old leaves hanging😅. Looks like i really hv to chop off mine too. I want the pups like yours, it will be a cute pp tree. Do u add fertilizer in propogation water for the top cutting?

    • @SuchPlants
      @SuchPlants  3 года назад

      Haha it does look like an alien huh? I have only added the plant tonic to the water when I first did the cutting, and then I only added water whenever it was low. 😅 However, it will surely benefit if you change the water at least once a week.

    Hey Ron, thank you for the vid. Bout to go thru this process and was wondering if you could share the ratios you’d recommend for the potting mixture. :)

    • @SuchPlants
      @SuchPlants  2 года назад +2

      Hi! I suggest you start with 50% potting soil, 20% worm castings (lots of good nutrients for the Spring if you are in the northern hemisphere), 20% perlite, 5% orchid bark or coco husk, 5% charcoal. You don’t have to be exact, so you can experiment with it and have fun! ☺️

      @@SuchPlants It was doing fine without any yellowing last year, but started to have some this year. Probably just leaves get old? 🤣 Overall it's still cute. I love those new babies on your mother plants, so cute!

    • @SuchPlants
      @SuchPlants  3 года назад +1

      @@LapineTingTing yes it could be the old leaves just falling off now. As long as you see new growth, it should do fine. OMG you’re already in Hawaii??? Hopefully the weather is okay! @@SuchPlants Yeah a lot of new growths, but I am also worried the bottom would get too bald. 😂 And yesssss we arrived on the 13th, and stayed in Kona for a few days, then switched to Sea Mountain in Pahala. (We brought our rain jackets and were so prepared to get wet haha) Well it rained a little bit after we finished everything. Perfect timing! And OMG OMG OMG I can't scream OMG enough! How frequently should I I be changing the water?

    • @SuchPlants
      @SuchPlants  Год назад

      For best results, once a week. Or when water is starting to look gross. You just need to make sure there is no bacteria build up which can cause rot.

  • @irenelee2277
    @irenelee2277 28 дней назад

    Hi, i think watering once a week is not enough and there are no babies because you repotted the plant into such a deep large pot. Keeping the plant in a smaller pot will result in lots of babies.
