  • In this video, I take you on a journey from the busiest airport in the world to an airport with one of the greatest approaches in the world - LaGuardia! But this time around, I wasn't 100% sure I'd get the spectacular Manhattan view until my Delta A321 got closer to New York City on approach. Why? Find out in this fully narrated video featuring a real world ATC feed with explanations of what is being said.

    As a pilot, I love to see your enthusiasm for aviation and it always reminds me of why I fell in love with it too. Having flown this approach into LGA dozens of times, I can say the view from the flight deck is incredible. I wish I could share the view with you and other aviation enthusiasts but watching the sunset and golden hour light up Manhattan while flying over the Hudson at 3000 AGL. One of my favorite approaches out there. I remember one time on a clear and smooth day, I disconnected the autopilot over the bridge and hand flew the plane all the way up the Hudson and then around to land on 22, one of my favorite memories. Cheers 🍻

    Best approach in the entire United States when blessed with clear weather into New York LaGuardia and also Runway 19 down The Potomac River into Washington, D.C., is also a beautiful sight. This Hudson River visual with a 22 landing offers the best bird’s eye view of the nation’s largest city and the famous New York skyline. It’s always a treat and worth the ticket when flying into LaGuardia. Chicago approaches can be interesting but not as predictable. Good job Peter. I’ve done this approach quite a few times and it’s always exciting.

    Another great approach. Peter, let me compliment you on your editing skills. Perfect audio keeping in time with the video along with the play by play. Also, you took me back about 40 years as you noted the naval pier in Sandy Hook Bay. Tied up there to offload ammo when I was in the service. Thanks for another great video!

    W-O-O-O-O-W!!! Your "video images" showing All of: Brooklyn - it's 2 Famous Bridges at the East River, The Financial District Buildings, Lower Manhattan Buildings, Mid-Town Buildings, Central Park from the South to North Buildings with Upper East and West Side Buildings and Central Harlem Buildings, while flying above the Hudson River at 3K Ft.; is a sight to definitely behold with a clear sky and a beautiful sunset starting in the west view. Really liked your brief ATC and personal descriptions with the terrific music sound editing, to get a sense of the views you were seeing. One of your best video's that you have posted, for all of us to see Peter.

    I’m not even big on planes and I don’t know how I was recommended this (maybe because I live at the jersey shore close to nyc) but your genuine enthusiasm for aviation and the pure joy it brings you made me so happy. Keep enjoying what you love ❤️

    Oh I just drove by LGA about 10 mins ago. They are landing 4 right now and taking off 13. The approach your going to show in this video is the best though! That’s for sure! I normally fly out of Newark which is actually mainly worse then LaGuardia.

    I flew this approach starting from CAMRN or APPLE left to go north over the Hudson and then serious of rights to come in from the east and landed west. It was something amazing. My only question that I see no one seems to be asking is why do they let the planes fly so close since 9/11? I get it these movements are controlled by ATC; however while sitting on the left side and making that left up the Hudson and saw WTC I could only imagine what UA175 passengers felt because it gave me the chills during the left turn because you can see the tower.

    • @BottomLin3Op
      @BottomLin3Op 8 месяцев назад

      @PeterMasella No, I was a passenger on SWA642. I basically was trying to say that approach over the Hudson just seems too close to me, just my opinion. I was more annoyed. I was on the left side of the plane as the right side had the view of Manhattan, but it gave an interesting view perspective.

    • @PeterMasella

      I don't know what the rules were immediately following 9/11 however planes haven't been restricted over flying Manhattan for a very long time.

    300 million airplanes or even more and the radio quality sucks

    • @PeterMasella
      @PeterMasella  9 месяцев назад

      The radio transmissions between pilots and ATC is crystal clear. This audio from this video is taken from a third party via a scanner which may not physically be in a good location on the ground to pick up the highest quality radio transmissions.
