The four-door coupe phenomenon, started in 2005 by the Mercedes-Benz CLS, has grown in recent years to include cars like the VW CC, Aston Martin Rapide and even crossovers like the BMW X6. Now Audi is getting in on the act with the A7, a car that blends elements from a sedan, wagon and coupe together to create a tasty new concoction. Авто/Мото
I was valet parking and this car rolled up and I didn't see the front only and back. I was somewhat far away and I didn't recognize it at all. I was stunned that this was an Audi. Very nice car.
Why are so many people bothered by the 'odd' placed start-stop button? You will only use it when you start and when you stop.
Buttons you use frequently should be near.
Kees Closed because although not too often used that’s even more reason to keep it off the center console. Just about every other manufacturer if not all put it on the instrument panel. Too much risk of accidentally hitting the button while driving. Passenger could accidentally hit it. Although I am pretty sure there are safeguards to prevent it from doing anything while in motion still not one of the best ergonomic moves by Audi. Convenient location for the one time it gets used but I personally think that is a waste of Center console space. Putting the start stop button on the MMI controller is one thing but at least have a cover guard over it.
Even bigger FIBAR is the 2018 A4. I had one as a service loaner last year for a couple of weeks. The cup holders were placed forward of the shifter between the shifter and the lower part of the center stack. That cup of whatever runs the risk of spilling on the shifter and eventually dripping on and shorting out electrical components in that area. Just got a 2012 A6 premium plus and cup holders are correctly ergonomically designed behind the shifter between the shifter and center console. Easy access for both front seat occupants on in my case, space for coffee and water cups on my road trips.
What they did finally get right or shall I say right compared to my logic and compared to other manufacturers. The drivers instrument panel. Fuel door on the right, side of vehicle, fuel gauge right side of instrument panel. Yes it still even has the arrow to remind you. Kudos for that. Conversely the coolant reservoir is on the drivers side of the engine compartment, coolant temp gauge on the driver side.
I am not a ergonomics expert by any mean but that should be basic common sense design.
Nice car , Good review !
Would be nice if you told us what trim level is as tested ??
Favourite Audi ever.
nice car, good review.
My favorite practical Audi
@MrBazpoker in what aspect? the review itself or the car?
@TheEryk03 i would love to take those RS models but they are not offered in USA :( sad...
@conceptcs and RS3, RS5, RS6, A8 and TT RS :)
Why do you guys play the same crap music track on every review?
The lack of a center rear seat is just dumb. But this is a gorgeous car, I have to admit.
Nice review.
best in the segment.
Does the A7 have electric steering?
make a review of the cls
@ ghrpdx most coupes still have b-pillars? Honda Accord coupe example. The only coupe to come to mind that doesn't is the Mercedes E coupe.
@seauryakumar is a view point, i been inside both and will take the A7 over the Merc any time.. in full spect is simply safer thanks to the AWD (very handy in rain and snow) and better equipped.
Damn, I would be crying if I had to use this beauty for extreme cargo hauling...hell, I had an acquaintance who once used his 1993 3 series to carry some soil in the trunk...and the soil was not contained in bags...geez...
Nice location... where is that place???
I love everything about this car except the fact that they didnt make it a 5 seater
This is really the only Audi I've liked so far. A5 is okay, and R8 is fine (bit a a bore though). The A7 is pretty nice though.
does this engine burn oil?
I believe Audi said the A7 was inspired by the rapide, and it shows.
Mainly because it isn't sold in the US :(
Awesome car, but i find it odd that my Focus has 10 airbags standard, but this has 6.
@enbesa Here where I live (Norway), I have to pay over 200 000 USD for an A7 with 245 hp.
the 4-door "coupe" roof line is very questionable to me. it's the result of a design decision to prioritize form over function. i think it's one of those things that could become a pain-in-the-ars very quickly if you drive around many (adult-sized) back seat passengers...
I'm not quite understdanding 80k for 310hp. It is a beautiful car though. i guess my partial misunderstanding is also due in part to the current inability to afford even the base version.
Reviewers are saying that new CLS is better. hmmm
At 1:30 through 1:40 , it reminded me of a Audi R8.
6 airbags? doesn't the Cruze have like 10?
Dude that's crazy i feel bad for you
ppl always forget the A5 sportback
minibus1351 no sportback in the U.S 😭.
Because the A7 overshadows the A5
ill take a Q7, A7 and R8 please. thx
There was a option for 5 seats
Mercedes Fan Here: I would take this over the CLS just because i havnt seen it that much... i was about to buy a CLS but I bought a S-Class
LED light not xenon !
Ill take 2.
Awesome machine but if something goes wrong, it will be expensive!
I think I REGRET not picking this up for $20k
@djBC10000 well this car isnt aimed for average customers
@DriftSimas *ANGLE
"The system is capable of identifying pedestrians"."wow, that´s amazing, so the car will tell me the names of the pedestrians?" PLOP! lol
@djBC10000 average customers cant buy 80% of the cars they test ...
@MrTroll34 wow ur nice
I'm sorry, but there's a lot on the dash of this car that reminds me of a BMW dash.
why am i watching this im only 13
Larsonty you’re 21 now then, thats sick bro
Unfortunately, yes. Everything is crazy expensive here.
Jostein Lintvedt not anymore ;)
First view and first comment! yeah
@darkpill It's annoying isn't it!
WHAAAT!!! Really?
5th
That's a lot of munny
Audi A5 Sportback looks better.
@berroalejandro
FAIL...
@sdijnfpo0jaisf Well, if you want to drive around adults on the back seats over long distances, the A7 is clearly the wrong car for you. The back seats will be more than big enough for children and suitable for adults on shorter drives.
And if you want a car that prioritizes function over form, go buy a van ...
average customers cant buy this car or any car that top 25k-30k
lol 6 airbags standard. wtf is this a ford?
First view and first comment! yeah
