Hey Ken! Thanks once again for including me in the video!
@@bartoszchmiel218 you’re welcome! I take it you’re the Twitter contact? And you have a different name on RUclips?
@@ComputerClan Yep. If you want to confirm that, you can just dm me on Twitter
@@ComputerClan i love how you handle scams like this and i think you should do some scambaiting
I think it's really good and important how you clearly and plainly stated that the product is a scam within the first few seconds of the video

When he said “you’re calling the wrong department.” It just SCREAMED call center scam assholes.
Yep. And I've never known a tech department that needs to give a callback. You're usually just transferred to them. Only callbacks I've ever heard of are with a supervisor. Major red flags here.
@@BewareTheLilyOfTheValley and I know why he didn’t transfer me to the right department. He didn’t, because it’s quite hard to transfer a call to a place which doesn’t exist. UVLEN’s whole call center is basically that one guy who answered mine and my friend’s call
@@bartoszchmiel218 Indeed.
@@bartoszchmiel218 bit hard to have a call centre when you charge 15 bucks for a fake thing that nobody buys lol.
yeah as a former Callcenter agent: if you're calling the wrong department (my department is always the wrong one., I'm not tech support. I'm there if xyxour bill is fucked up or the store fucked up) you#ll get send to the right department. not via callback, not via email. immediately. I only twice asked a customer to write something and honestly that was because i needed additional documentation and because the case was way too hot for me.
Can't wait for the starscope one. They were advertising so hard on YT with leading questions like "does the CIA want this device banned", no, I doubt they do, but consumer protection organisations might.
I got that ad once, and then never again.
My bs meter has gotten so good that I don’t even get the bs ads.
I watch too much channels that talk about the dry boring parts of science to get bs adds anymore
That because it’s actually a bs filter that changes the wavelength that be ads are broadcasted on
I don't understand how you don't have over 1M subscribers. You present your material really well, feels like I'm watching some sort of adventure show on the Discovery channel.
Underrated for sure
I read your comment and then saw that i wasn't subscribed. Fixed now.
Probably because some people don't appreciate being made to watch 2 videos and it be for nothing.

My biggest problem with this is that you can't use UV C on your SKIN, even a small amount can really damage your skin
That's the thing that's been bugging me all the time with these things. Even if it worked it would straight up burn your skin. There's a reason UVC is used to disinfect surfaces or tools but not human skin.
This is like trying to use boiling water to disinfectant your skin. I mean if you leave your hands in it for a minute it will certainly kill the bacteria on them, but it will also horribly burn your hands.
"If someone tells you that something can kill 99% of bacteria in a petri dish, remember: so can a handgun"
-XKCD
@@JuFo2707 There is always a relevant XKCD :)

Ya know, seeing Atomic Shrimp post here, and then LegalEagle with The Spiffing Brit just makes me know all RUclipsrs know each other at this point.
It's great content why wouldn't they watch it
Nobody knows JAGIELSKI though. And that's sad because JAGIELSKI is PERFECTION.
Bonus: a small piece of one of Ken’svideo showed up on one of PhantomStrider’s videos.
"Fused Silica Amorphous"...
So, glass.
Not just any glass... pure silica has a very high melting point and not very great properties for working with; normal glass has other ingredients added. "quartz glass" is only used for special purposes, including UV bulbs since it remains transparent to UV.
Spotted Atomic Shrimp in the screenshot- another great RUclips channel that everyone should check out!
Atomic Shrimp is awesome 😎, everyone should check out his channel 👍

I Just noticed, that the viewer that was calling the UVLEN for you is From Poland, and i tried calling the number myself, no dice, looks like all Polish Phone numbers are blocked, i even tried on like, 5 diffrent Phone numbers.
If you use Petri dishes again, just be sure to keep them in a sealed container when not in use. Just walking by a petri dish can provide enough of an air current to get under the lid of the dish and deposit contaminations on the surface of the agar. (:
I went through many culture plates before I realized that's what was happening with my mushroom petri dishes lol
Oh, I've been waiting for this! These scam investigation things might just be my favourite thing on this channel recently.
@c6amp I may be? Gotta do something during lockdown to avoid going crazy...
*Kudos to you my friend you're bringing awareness to these tech scams by putting yourself on front line taking the risks for many.* 🙏
Thank you for the follow-up; I'm glad others pointed out the frequency increasing technologies, and that they are extremely unlikely to be what's going on here.
There are a variety of physical processes for passively converting light to higher wavelengths, using the energy in that same light. These tend to involve lasers, or fairly cutting edge tech that wouldn't be available in a $15 device.
Even if one does believe that they have somehow made a cheap device with some kind of photon upconversion technology, the easiest way to tell this is a scam is that it's claiming to use UV-C to disinfect skin, which simply isn't done, even with legitimate UV-C disinfecting sources. When such a device is used in a room, generally the room has to be vacant. When a handheld device is used, PPE must be worn. UV-C isn't like the friendly sun-burn-causing UV-B, it will cause skin and eye damage. This damage is usually temporary, but it's still not going to be pleasant.
Subscribed to the channel today. I like the format and reviews and humor for stuff like this. People fall for anything anymore, no one thinks critically anymore. Reminds me of the commercial about the person who believes everything on the internet. Case in point, a FILTER will never ADD it will only REMOVE. It's the literal definition.
1:02 if you look at the website that he is trying to pay through, it says that it is a Shopify item, meaning it’s drop shipped
Wow, Krazy Ken! There was an ad for star scope right before this video. It’s the first time I ever heard of it
Love when people have courage to say: sorry, i was mistaken. Kudos for that! Love the video. Simple act of honesty, but so rare in today's world.
Great video man, sorry you haven’t gotten your product. But I’m looking forward to the next scam video
I got an ad for the Cosmic Scope Monocular during your video! 😄
Oh this is great, the follow up video. I left 3 comments on your OP original!
Literally just got an ad for the same type of product. On this video
Their name is Crystal technology and industries.
Man that is some great sound quality. Nice job
I've been watching since 'Windows Crap Edition' and I've been really impressed with the channel after all these years. Keep up the good work!
Love this Ken! I just checked on their website and all but 2 products are 'discontinued' or 'out of stock'! What a scam - I bet their HQ doesn't actually exist either!
Also, if you google 'fused silica amorphous', it is glass with chemicals in to lower the melting temperature!
Omg it's just clicked you look like Deena from superstore :o btw love the content keep it up
Try shining it on an Amex card as they have a security feature that says AMEX across the card which florescences under UVA/B/C light but is invisible in normal light.
YESSSSSSSSSSSS! I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR A WHILE FOR THISS
I keep getting the USB ad that says that the laptop can run without the HDD even though he's holding the cd/dvd drive
Thanks for explaining the science, I find this super interesting, and you know, tearing a scam a new one is an added bonus.
I tried searching for materials that would up convert to UV C.
There seemed to be a lot of research but I could not find a commercial product.
The highest I could find was 365 nm for some medical application that was not disinfection.
There seems to be various medical applications for up converting nano particles.
That's some wicked-fast editing
Ken you might want to look into novitec. They offer a wifi range extender that is supposed to defeat an ISP bandwidth throttling.
😂😂😂
I like your channel. I'm glad I some how found you at 10k subs
Superb follow up. What is your theme music btw. Love it!
After digging a bit, I found the real company behind the scam, it is an Indian company called new normal technologies based in Mumbai. They have a certificate of testing result from Korea which is easy to get but no patents or ISO certifications (mandatory when selling UV products). They also claimed it is made in India on one website and made in Korea on another.
I was very interested to see what this would end up to be
I got a ad for a scam called Smart Dot that “protects” you from EFM waves before this video.
It's not a scam, if you wear it you won't be harmed by them. You wouldn't regardless but still
I've been getting SOOO many ads for the Starscope or products like it.
To keep this uv thing going you should try some of those Sen on tv uv light wands to see if their claims hold up 🤔
Hey I got a comercial for starscope at the binging of your video, does this mean this is a legitimate product to buy?
At uni we had a UV hand dryer in the science building, there was a hot air dryer, and next to it was a UV unit. It was about twice the size of the hot air dryer, a warning not to use the hot air dryer if you need the UV (as the hot air dryers spread and propagate germs lol)
The UV dryer was basically just a steel box with two black glass plates, you’d put your dry hands in and wait for a beep, you’d here a snap, your hands would be warm (like you clapped them together pretty hard) and apparently your hands were now sanitised
I studied chemistry not biology, and used it once just to experience it, but never used it again. Surprisingly there wasn’t a warning regarding overuse, or not to look into the chamber, (I ofc didn’t lol) so I assumed it was a piece of kit only to be used if you’ve been shown to use it, lol
Besides, I assume it’s for use BEFORE you go to the bathroom, to not contaminate “yourself”, as opposed to washing/disinfecting hands after using the toilet lol
As far as being "out" the $15, I kind of assumed that at some point you'd dispute these scam companies' transactions with your credit card issuer. There's no way you're putting a debit card number into those sketchy-ass sites, right?!
@@ProtoV33MK1 but all you're doing is trusting someone else............ i dunno if that's any better than just going to walmart getting a prepaid visa paying the 5$ one time fee.
@@johndorian4078 A lot of banks offer this now directly.
The wifix ad before this video was shocking! And kinda ironic that it was on the channel xD
I like products that say "military grade". The military typically awards contracts to the lowest bidder. It doesn't mean "over spec", it means "just barely in spec".
That's only true of specific things. Military-grade uranium is not something you want to go anywhere near, as it's usually incased in a nuke. (The US does have a stockpile of uranium though, if I recall correctly)
I'm about 40% sure this comment is going to get me on a list somewhere..
Did you contest the charges since you have not received it?
Gonna show my age, but my father was a meat cutter in a butcher shop back in the 50's & 60's. In their display cases they had UV lamps, they were clear fluorescent tubes that glowed a purple color, much like a black light. BUT, they were installed with shields so you couldn't look directly at them. My older brother played with one once, and withing a minute he looked like he had been welding without a shield, they burned his eyes. UV has some amazing qualities for controlling bacteria growth, but not something you'd want to play with.
It is sold in Korea, but the advertisement is dubious as heck.
1. In the ad, there's some certificates signed from KIFA, confirmed back in May. However, it also somehow has Canadian certificate of similar test.
2. Domain Lookup shows the owner's billing address is Quebec, Canada.
3. It seems this product also have been in a small living gadgets convention or something, but I'm uncertain if this actually works.
4. On the other hand, uvlenstore domain's lookup shows its billing address is Nigeria.
Yeah new episode!!!!!!!!!!
Could be there is no tracking number, like a postcard.
So maybe it’s one of the cheap shipping methods to save them money
Since shopify and the ilk it’s so hard to tell a sketchy store checkout from a normal one, they all look the same!
How did you edit that so fast? I seen your tweet, you said you had only two minutes to edit. This video will be nice.
Practice?
You could try out the disinfectant testing you could try finding different UV-C devices. I know I've seen some at this store called Tuesday Morning that's like a clamshell case you put your phone in to clean it.
I tried searching for materials that would up convert to UV C.
There seemed to be a lot of research but I could not find a commercial product.
The highest I could find was 365 nm for some medical application that was not disinfection. There seems to be various medical applications for up converting nano particles.
Ayyyyyye I’ve been waiting for this video
another testing method is a Light Spectrum Analyzer, you could then test the light of your phone without then with the filter. I remember a youtuber using one discussing house hold led lights and how our eyes perceive various light wavelengths, it was a good video just but its been at least a year and I don't remember which youtuber did it.
LOL at the question you left on their website.
"LTT store dot com" xD
Id assume they are really just drop shipping, from foreign warehouses. That might explain the terrible shippibg
While I was watching this I got an ad for quick charge 3.0 🤣
i approve of the t shirt my guy and also nice content once again
Only Ken can make a video for a product that still hasn’t arrived yet
I got an "Auron bottle" ad watching this video...it says you can purify water with UV lights....please check it out too.
Can you make a phone out of parts instead of the phone built already?
A RUclips channel called Strange Parts did this! He was in China, and he bought all the individual parts and built an iPhone :-)
Just too damn funny 🤣 The Facebook advertisement preceding Ken's video was for that worthless ass monocular "telescope" 😂😂
Ken: can you give me a tracking number?
Uvlen: uh...one?
How awful there are so many scam products advertised on Instagram and there is no option for scams under report...
Hey ken, can you do one one "Novaa light pad"? So funny.
I’m guessing that it’s being shipped from China in a padded envelope which, because of trade promotion agreements many years ago, is actually cheaper than shipping domestic US and allows them to ship us cables that are sold for three dollars and still profitable. These don’t have tracking numbers and they take 6 to 8 weeks to arrive.
standard international mail doesn't have tracking numbers, it's a paid feature for standard and is usually included with the costs of registered airmail or ems, which for sure none of these companies are using. Regardless most of those numbers won't say much more than shipped on such and such date until your national carrier updates any info.
The Gordon goes on a rampage is a good video
If you want to check for UV light, shine it into a box of Tide powder. That stuff glows like mad under UV.
as I’m watching this... I saw an ad for a certain product.

Nice video m8
I keep reading UVLEN like it's an Ikea product. Possibly some kind of footstool. Pronounced "oov-len" :P
You are waaaayy too underrated
Recommend you initiate a chargeback through your credit card if you don't receive it within the next few weeks.
Scammers are rife in Korea. However, mail between the US and Korea is really slow right now. My last delivery took over 2 months despite being an express delivery at least in part due to COVID-19 restrictions.
I love follow up videos ! thanks! haha
6:34. I kept getting this ad everywhere, I legit have the same telescope at home which only costed me $6 dollars. It sucks, doesn't work
It does sound like a miracle: an unexplainable event that you're gonna need some serious proof for.
They just showed me an ad for the scam phone charger/batter restorer on this vid.
Just an FYI who wants a product that can do similar to what this says it will - gel nail lamps can sterilise (they use the same lights as phone soap) and they are very readily available in near endless form factors - including many battery powered and easily pocketable varieties.
Oh my god I love that atomic shrimp guy
For some reason I got a uvlen ad on this video
How did you export it this quickly?
I'm the "Fastest click in the west" guy
Funny thing is, on ebay you can find UV lights for cheap from shady china suppliers and they emit UV-C light... just not on purpose, or at least they're not advertised as UV-C emitting tubes.
A proper health risk but a lot cheaper than the weird blue filter for the phone.
Is a phosphorescence trick possible to remodulate light into a higher frequency?
Edit: No. A quick look into it shows that only lower frequencies can be re-emited

Wonder if that Lit Mobile one arrived or not.
Doubt it...
The good news, they replied at least once. I'd say that puts them better than Lit Mobile, though that's basically just drawing a line on the ground at this point.
I have bought three Kickstarter products. I received all three, and they all do exactly what they claim to do. I was persuaded because a) the products weren't claiming anything outlandish or that broke physical laws b) The ads showed genuine products in use, and they looked the same in each one, and c) the companies all sent frequent emails detailing progress of my order.
On the plus side, the package you never received is just as effective.
Cool, scam products get me buzzing every time, UV is real big in the scam scene now. No surpises but it was original, a smart phone attachment filter???
I'm allergic to UVA. I thought I knew too much about UV, never ever heard of UVC.🤷♀️
