"sitting in the wrong or right side"
both actually.
Yeah. And it feels weird to see a car very similar to mine (when it comes to inside) in this configuration.
I wonder which one is more convenient for a left/right handed person, apart from just being used to one of them because it's what you've learned at the beginning or you've been driving for years.
@@Kasiarzynka Yeah, @Paynos make flipped versions of your videos, not the pedals, just the cockpit :D
@@Kasiarzynka I never drive an LHD car, but RHD cars seem more convenient for me as a right-handed person bcs my dominant hand stays on the wheel while shifting
@@ilham7345 For me it's the opposite. I'm right-handed/ambidextrous and couldn't imagine shifting with my left hand, the steering wheel is so light and the gear stick very heavy (at least in my car) that it feels more or less natural to hold the wheel with left hand. Even when I'm not shifting and just using onr hand to hold the wheel I use my left hand.
Instablaster.
i started giving some gas whilst downshifting without the intention to do it cause it felt much more smoother, finally now I have confirmation that I'm not doing it without a good reason
Yep everything is better if the revs match. People who shift up too quickly or slowly have rougher gear changes too.
When you listen to the engine, it tells you what it wants.
@@MrCmon113 this... people underestimate this. Now i dont have my own car, but in my mothers car i cant really do this because the car is so silent you dont hear the engine when inside haha
Personally I don't do that for normal driving just for aggressive overtakes... And I don't wait for my revs to drop if I need all the speed and power when I change up like I put first Rev limiter imedaitly second and the car jumps forward giving me more speed, I know the clutch takes the wear there but so what it's a clutch... Depends on the speed, and you are more likely to ruin the engine rather than gearbox
@@MarcAntoineBvl Not if you heal and toe it. But it is entirely dependent on speed. 2-1st should be done between 15-05mph

Dude did you get it ?
The hardest part of learning to rev match for me was figuring out how quickly or slowly to release the clutch. You learn that it just depends on your speed, and what you're attempting to do with the downshift. If you're slowing down and engine braking it's better to use finesse. If you're trying to drop a gear and disappear, you let it out quicker while adding heavier throttle.
When I’m in gear 2 and I slow down a bit and downshift to gear 1, the car is on the high side of the speed and revs for that gear so around 11mph. And when I bring the clutch up there is a of a jerk. How i avoid that is by braking until around 6/7mph then fully coming off the clutch. But my instructor said you can downshift and come off the clutch even if you are on the high side so still around 10/11mph and slowly, smoothly come off. Is this correct and will that prevent the jerk?

Just found your channel Paynos...!!! 😀👍
Legend! Thank you lad. Love your channel!
I like the tractor diesel shifts. You can immediately start at 2nd gear and you go up gears when you reach the sweet spots on the rpms. Downshifting either you brake then downshift which is a must so you dont brake fade or let the engine brakes slow down and downshift accordingly
“All proceeds go to a new gearbox” car done hours of driving in 5 mins 😂
Wow man! I'm a fresh driver and this just will help me out a lot, thanks!
Wow! Such a boss driver. I find it harder to do smooth downshifts in our golf diesel than my petrol my tf. Perhaps down to golf having heavier dual mass flywheel whereas MGs being lighter? You can literally just let the clutch back up in MG and the revs 'match' without you doing anything.

Hi paynos 🔥
My main problem is that I know how to heel and toe, but my brake and accelerator must be too far away from each other, or maybe my feet are just too small! Either way, I find it hard to press the accelerator whilst braking gently and smoothly. Any tips? I’m in a 2016 Fiesta eco Boost?
I naturally done this my first time changing gears
I love downshifting my Z 🥰
Love a good Z 💪
I wish I could try these during lessons lol.
Listen to your instructor and change things up once you pass, this is what I did. You never know what the instructors will think if you do things differently and wether it will affect your test
Thanks my synchros are borked, and i want to try this out. Normally I just push the gearstick into 1st gear untill it goes in. Lol.
I also sometimes cronch the gears when I go from 2nd to 3rd or from 3rd to 4th, but I just have to shift a little slower to not have that happen.
Really good guide. But i don't understand, what's the difference between normal rev match downshift, and double clutch rev match downshift. For me normal rev match downshift is faster?
Yeeaah| Now I'm a professional racing driver.
good teacher
Do you downshift and use engine braking to slow down the car? My Irish instructor taught me to switch to a lower gear (usually 2nd gear) while at a high speed, without using any regular braking, and just hold the clutch at the biting point for a few seconds and slowly release the clutch. I used this technique with my Chinese instructor and he said big no no just use regular brake.
Everyone should watch this
Hope everythings okay😊 waiting for the next vid

Why do people have so many problems with downshifting? They teach you basics at school and then you just have to learn and feel your own car to find out what it likes. Practise, my friends.
This has to be the easiest tut along with that clip of that guy who heel-toed from 5th-1st gear in the end.

So ... I've only been driving manual for ... Not long lol. Has an old Exploder for $250 and that was my lesson rig. About a year or so. When you rev match, do you want your rpm's to be where they would be if you were upshifting? Say I shift at 3000 rpm. Push in the clutch to down shift, rpm's drop, gas to get it back to 3000, then slowly let off the clutch? I just got a 2015 Jeep Renegade Latitude with a turbo in it. Low miles, great deal ... I love this thing, but downshifting is SOOOO strange lol. Any advice is more than welcome! Thank you in advance!

Thanks so much for this video! I’ve passed my test and I’ve always been baffled at to why the car dips when I change down to 2nd to go around corners.
So when down shifting do you hold the throttle as u let the clutch out? Or do u bring your rpms up then let go of throttle then let out the clutch?
When you press the clutch you give it a little bit of throttle
where are you bro? miss your vids
I’m currently 17 learning to drive from the UK wondering if you could make an updated video going over good options for a first car, with price a price range including cars within a price range of 5-9k or a similar range (eg 0-2k, 2-5k, 5-9k, 9k+)

What watch are you wearing?
Let's say I'm in Gear 5 and I want to turn a corner. I brake and change to gear 2. Do I need to Rev match when I shift to gear 2?
How good is a swift car for a second one?
The video you talk about done by "bridge to gantry" can you add the link please. I would appreciate it. I have to see that video. Thank you.

Can you make a video on roundabouts and how and when to approach them
What does the double clutch on neutral do? Didn't catch his explanation

I was doing it from 4th to 3rd when i was learning in my dads passat lol
It’s easy since you can just whack the gear straight down, it feels really cool too, I do it in my punto although one time I whacked it on a bad angle and it somehow went into 1st luckily I realised my error and quickly clutched in lmao
My accelerator on my 307 is too far in from the brake, so to heel n toe that you’d have to brake very hard. I find it stupid how my clutch, brake and accelerator are staggered like a staircase.
I'll be sure to try this out next time I'm at the wheel. Only problem is I gotta remember all this while also doing my best to avoid the maniacs on the road. India isn't a driver friendly place...

Still getting used to 2nd to 1st rev matching and still practicing. It jst doesnt need to be done that often as I tend to drop from 3rd or 4th into 1st as im braking smoothly but heavily.
You shoudnt really downshift to 1st gear. Thats almost never usefull and really bad fir your car if not done perfectly.
@@hiddeelbers78
Depends on your car and where you live. My dad's car can be in 2nd gear from 0 km/h to 70, but if your motor can't do that or you live in an area with narrow streets and hills, you'll have to shift down to 1st often.
The only time you need engage first gear is at stand still. as long as you are moving second gear will do
@@Frajmando what about if you want to take of in a street race is it ok to downshift from second to first when you are goin like 20-30km/h
@@Frajmando I have a bmw e46 330
What's wrong with the traditional way of braking, then downshifting into the correct gear? You seem to be doing 30mph for example in 3rd gear. But able to drop to 2nd gear at the same speed, but what about if you was slowing down. Would you need to rev match or can you do a traditional brake clutch downshift
If you're breaking hard it would possibly work, however the engine revs can drop significantly by the time you've slowed down fast enough.
Xopher well i was just wondering in what situations would I rev match downshift instead of a traditional brake then downshift..
Of course on my driving lessons I was taught to slow down to the speed I need and change into the correct gear for that speed. For example I was taught if I was going 55mph in 5th gear, I would use the brake to slow down to an appropriate speed for the situation. for example 15mph.. for this I would brake and then clutch in at about 20mph & go into 2nd gear and release brake and clutch at 15mph.
Ji mainly so that you can smoothly transition in to the correct gear and not slow down then change then have to get back up to speed.
For example coming up to a roundabout at about 25-30 in 4th/3rd gear, then heel toe braking in to 2nd to reduce speed to enter the roundabout and be ready to accelerate out of the roundabout.
With traditional slow down, change gear, you would be coasting a little before you got in to the correct gear and on a roundabout that can be dangerous if you misjudge speed of the traffic from the right.
I mostly use this technique in corners to remain stable and keep a good speed as well as be on the power for corner exit.
Hope that wasnt too confusing?
The revs in the higher gear will always be lower than in the lower gear at any speed (and they drop further when you push in the clutch). So the clutch will have to help the engine get up to the right speed. Your car can handle it and you'll be fine driving around without the more advanced techniques, but the techniques shown in this video will get you closer to an ideal, perfectly smooth shift.
Ji yeah, that’s fine and is what nearly everyone does, but the Rev matching is just for a bit of fun and if you are really pushing on and don’t want jerky movement!
I did something.... Enter the corner at 5th gear... Hard brake and using heel toe downshift... From 5 to 2... And brake drifting... Honestly... I screwed up many times... And gets a while to master that technique
Does the throttle and downshift match your revs like on a motorbike then? 🤔
Im only here cuhz my 3rd gear grinds, i have to rev match to pervent that. And i can't figure out the sweet spots
I’m lost in the first 40 seconds of the video 🤣🤣
Anyone else get the ad w/ the dude scratching his dogs ass then eating popcorn playing “we belong together”😂😂😂😂
Hi do you press the clutch all the way in to the max or just enough to change gear
To change gear clutch has to be all the way down
I have only ever down-shifted from 2nd to 1st by accident, aiming for 3rd. I think 2nd to 3rd is tough on the mechanisms, and would only do that in an emergency stop.
👍
I didnt “normal” was clutch in and downshift and release slowly I always thought rev matching was the way to go
I’m gonna spam all these vids in a year when I’m gonna learn to drive lmao
So you hold cluich, rev motor, down shift and release clutch pedal?
it’s my understanding that you blip the throttle right before you begin to release the clutch.
