WOW. Hopefully the viewers appreciate you letting them into your life for no other reason than to help them 👏👏👏 you’re braver than me😀 we have done the same and been living here for 7 months and been regular visitors since 1980. It’s the same experience we had had with our permanent move here. 🍻
Great stuff. I’m sure you have had 7 months of bliss 🌴

Awesome video Richard, firstly thankfully you escaped that car accident in reasonable shape, albeit I understand you're ptsd. This us youre the best video to date, I really enjoyed you exposing yourself along with your budgets etc. I hope you're doing well, mate. I'm very interested in retiring in Sanur in a year or two as i am an Army veteran living solo, looking at a relaxing place to live my latter years.
Thank you 🙏

I'm happy you and Karen are living life on your terms. I've been visiting Bali, mainly Sanur, 2 to 3 times a year since 1984 and have considered retirement there also.
Glad you enjoyed it! and thanks for subscribing 🙏

You are adorable when you described the cool breeze in your hair 😂😂😂
😁
Love your videos. My husband and i are coming out to Sanur next month on holiday. We cant wait.
For future vlogs could you possibly recommend best barbers and hairdresser in Sanur.
Thank you.
Hi thanks for watching
I don’t use a barber , I cut my hair myself LOL
For hairdresser Chic is popular and The shampoo lounge is popular with expats.
@@BalilifewithRichard 😀 Thank you. I'll check them out 👍🏻

Great video Richard!
Unfortunately we left it too late in life to make the move but absolutely love hearing about it all from you.
Cheers to you and Karen…..and thank you for sharing 🤗
❤️
I read an article the other day by a woman in Darwin saying her 80 year old parents sold up and moved to Bali.
@@steveth1000 yes I saw that
Interesting!
Same age…..but maybe they don’t have health issues 🤔
Plus Darwin being so close their family could get there to them if needed?

Richard be very careful with the Australian pension, you must be living in Australia two years prior to make it portable. I am waiting till I’m 67 before making the move.
Yes we understand , thanks 👍
I don't think that's true. You can come back and get on the pension but you need to stay in Australia for 2 years before you go back overseas. We had friends come back from 8 years in Thailand and Michael went on the pension at 68. When he returned.
@@steveth1000it is a difficult one and when we get closer to that time we will have a good look at the process
@@steveth1000 Yes you can get the pension as soon as you return but you stay in Australia for two years before it’s portable, you can have holidays but the pension stops.
Love your videos Richard, am very interested in the pension thing, namely, can we get it? Looking at engaging with Frank and Monika when the time comes. Murray Wilkinson is my husbands best friend. Between Muzza and yourself we should be right. Looking forward to the move 😊
Great video, thank you... are there any villas in your complex that are available on a monthly basis?
Hi thanks for watching. No I don’t think so
Hey Richard, great video thanks 🙏🏻
Which part of Sanur is your Villa in? We recently holidayed in Sanur and dream of moving there in the next few years.
Cheers

Hi thanks for watching We are behind the night markets
Hey, thanks for all the info you put up, its really useful. Prior to Covid I came to Bali, volunteering while on annual leave. I've now retired and been looking around as to where to settle, can't afford Aus. I've booked a flight Jan 2025 and intend to come and stay in Sanur for at least a month. Any suggestions on location for a homestay/guesthouse walking distance to beach, cafes etc. Will be living off the Aus pension so need to keep a moderate budget. I've also made contact with an agent who has given me all the info re visas etc and will handle it all. I know that can be bit of a minefield with things changing a lot.
Cheers
Jan
Hi Jan . I have done a few accomodation video regards home stays and guesthouses, maybe one of them will suit your requirements. They are all close to shops etc. I hope they help with your decision 🙏
Hi Guys, love your channel and love it in Bali, particularly Sanur. It's great that your making friends there, are you making friends with any Balinese locals there and also how well are you accepted there as residents? I'm asking that purely because Australia is a country that has always had immigrants coming in every year, some people like it and some don't so much. I'd be interested in your views on that. Cheers Vince and Julie in South Australia.
Hi . We have a few Balinese friends that we run into and catch up with. I think if you are not to over the top and respect the local people and culture you do get accepted here.
@@BalilifewithRichard Fair call, thanks. I found Balinese quite interested in life in Australia, asking questions about exactly where we live here and what we do etc. I'd certainly hate to think they were feeling overwhelmed with large numbers etc.
@@julienash9470 population is growing all over the world and there are so many Aussies leaving Australia due to cost of living. As long as you show respect ,you receive it in return ❤️
Just thought i would let you know if you did not know already, but the age pension is taxable income in Australia when you are living in Bali as you are considered a foreign tax resident for tax purrposes. As a guide the age pesnion will be taxed at 25% but depends if you have other Australian income.
Good info thank you 🙏
Hi Richard,
I have been watching your videos and now subscribed 😊
Could I ask you what app you use to edit your video's for uploading and music app?
Your videos are great 👍
Hi thanks for subscribing 🙏
I use epedemic sound for music and CapCut for editing
@@BalilifewithRichard awesome thank you so much. I'm watching your videos as we speak 😄

@@BalilifewithRichard Can I ask, do you pay a monthly subscription for epidemic sound?
@@inspiredbycoastal52 hi I payed yearly 👍
Hi Richard - just wondering do you have a base / house you rent in Australia- thanks
Hi thanks for watching 👍
Do you pay the long lease up front or do you pay annual? Best wishes to you both over there
Hi thanks for watching
If you are looking at long leases, it’s paid upfront
Hi would love for us show us your villa
I have just recently completed a video tour of our villa . Have a look at our channel for it 👍
My husband got his licence for Indonesia through the police cost us 50.00 for 5 yrs must admit this was 2 yrs ago.
Awesome
Where is karen
She has stepped back from RUclips
You gave a breakdown of different cost's but how much aud$ do you spend per month minus rental leases do you spend ?
It’s approx $800-850 a month . Food/dinning, shopping, internet, phone, electricity and bike.
@Balibliss123 wow , so inexpensive
@@Villa_Nyantaiyep sure is . That’s not lease cost though 👍
@Balibliss123 omg . You guys are killing it . That's our weekly budget 😩
@@Villa_Nyantai it’s very cheap living here if you are careful
Do you have to pay your lease for 24 years or once per year? That is $240k or $10k per annum?
Hi long leases are paid up front, that’s why when it’s broken down to yearly it’s cheaper 👍
@@BalilifewithRichard Thanks, I was wondering that but it was unclear. I may be wrong but the detail may be as important as the information you are kindly delivering.
The health Insurance was a bit unclear too. For people retiring in Bali with age pension, the instance of heart conditions and associated age issues is important, therefore health insurance needs to be a little clearer. For example my understanding is that Australian Medicare ceases to be a benefit when living overseas. Even if you return to Australia for an operation may see you paying full price.
Im not trying to be negative, because I believe it is great to retire in Bali.
Maybe a suggestion would be to place a disclaimer in the comments section or as a slide in your video.
Something like “ DISCLAIMER: For all matters in this video relating to “health, visas, home leases and any financial commentary is not advice. We highly recommend seeking professional advice on all matters mentioned in this video”
I know this sounds a bit pragmatic but some people look for any excuse to get litigious.
The last thing you need is to be hit with a legal nutcase.
@@macleayexplorer yes I will put a disclaimer in the description. Thanks for advice , I appreciate it 👍
Geez you are a beautiful couple and I love your content xxx

I would love to move to Bali but being a single old duck I’m fearful of such a big decision.

Great video full of interesting information and detail. One thing, is anyone living in the flat that you bought?
@@stephencollicoat1226the apartment was a 1 year lease, so we didn’t buy a long lease on that. It’s vacant at the moment
Just so you know, as far as I'm aware, the Aus govt will want you to go back and live in Aus for 2 years before they'll release your pension if you've been out of Aus a certain amount of time. I think you can holiday for 3 weeks every 6 months in that time. Don't quote me on it but it happened to a friend of mine. Might be worth looking into....Astungkara 🙏🕉
