I was at school with andy and colin...always followed x t c .amazing band.all very very talented lads.......and very nice to.nice interview.enjoyed it.
Thanks to The Guitargonaut for answering my questions regarding tribute bands, especially my old band, Fossil Fools. Dave's (and Colin Moulding's) support for us will always be treasured. It's great that other bands are still showcasing XTC's music, including EXTC, Scarecrow People and The Fuzzy Warblers (who showcase most, if not all of Andy P's Fuzzy Warbles), amongst others! Love you Dave! ❤
There is a Big Big Train live show here on YT and Dave does a solo that completely blows both the audience and the band away ... you can see it on their faces ... utter amazement! He is SO great!
@@paulpendyck9438 I think it "Victorian Brickwork by Big Big Train live in London" or another show around the same time, they have so many and I'm sure its one of the London shows.
He's a refined individual, as well as a marvellous musician. He looks remarkably well-preserved, probably because his passion in music pays his way. And not being married.
Thank you although I'm just the editor and publisher, Liam's the one who made it happen. He also did an interview with Colin you can see over on his channel :)
What a WONDERFUL interview with a top-notch guy in Dave Gregory!!! THANK YOU!!! You all hit the marks with your questions... and it was brilliantly comprehensive! I had a chance to interview Andy and Colin during the Oranges and Lemons radio tour... (they were both fantastic and very kind)... but one regret was never getting a chance to chat with Dave. ...so... again... THANK YOU!!
@lhair02 is the man and has more interviews at his channel: youtube.com/@lhair02?si=hwpoSK84teClJE9k @johnmavroudis2054 do you have that Andy & Colin interview anywhere to hear?
One of the true Mr Nice Guys in music & as a lifelong XTC fan the band were truly finished the day he left & Apple Venus is ok but Wasp Star is very patchy at best & no way Dave should have been allowed to leave! I honestly thought they would reconcile but it wasn't to be & I've followed his career ever since & what a guitar player & multi instrumentalist the man is.... Great interview 👍
What an Absolutely Wonderful interview with Dave an unsung Hero and a huge part of the Brilliance of XTC. The band without Dave's Musical Talent is unimaginable, Andy and Colin get all the Plaudits but the Importance of Dave and Terry to the band cannot be over Emphasised. Thanks for being part of the world's most Underestimated/Misunderstood and Greatest band ever, you'll hopefully get recognition someday and will be remembered always.
Check out Chanan Haspal's recent interview with him if you haven't seen it. No lessons but it's great to see Dave show off some of his XTC guitar parts.
With Skylarking as the "fan favorite" - I am a slave to Drums and Wires. I discovered this after "Making Plans for Niegel" became a "alt chart hit" here in the USA , around 1980 when I first discarded my "classic rock" life for "New Wave / Punk". I was a senior in high school and had like minded friends . Drums and Wires has attached itself to my memory - Spring 1980 ... the end of high school ... The Album works as a complete piece (juts as The Pretenders first album did). Many of the songs hit that melancholy note: Ten Feet Tall, Roads Girdle the Globe, Scissor Man, Outside World, Complicated Game....
About two months ago, you can find a link to Liam's original unedited video in the description and catch the date. My guess is he did the interview a couple days before that.
What a kind, well-spoken, and unassuming person who created some of the best music ever. Well done on the interviewing too.
That's Liam Hair @lhair02 conducting the great interview along with Joshua Batten.
@@BlackRoomProductions Bravo to both.
Well done. Interesting and nice to see Mr. Gregory.
I love Dave. He's so cool. That story about London and Melt and doing 'Nigel' on TOTP the next day, is absolute gold.

Dave Gregory has to be the nicest guitar hero out there! A true talent. 🎸

A gent and a brilliant musician.
Thank you for posting this interview. Love Dave Gregory ❤
Dave is just a great all around fellow to listen to on top of being an incredibly creative musician.

Which one?

Cheers for this guys, Dave remains one of my favourite guitarists, it's really good to know he's still in the business
I'm a huge XTC fan, and now a huge BBT fan, and it's delightful to hear the full range of the great Dave Gregory with both.
He's a refined individual, as well as a marvellous musician. He looks remarkably well-preserved, probably because his passion in music pays his way.
And not being married.
Yes yes and yes lol
Great interview, thanks for posting. Fantastic musician and seems to be a wonderful person as well.

Ahhh, here we go. I could listen to "Gregsy" for days. Many thanks !!
Dave Gregory is not only a brilliant guitarist but such a gentleman and honest human being.
What a blessing to the planet is Mr. Gregory.
Thank you so much, you guys, for this interview!
@lhair02
Thanks for posting this and cleaning up my audio! My microphone was very soft on the night of recording and in Liam's original upload!
Np dude it's what I do
Have only seen and heard a little bit of this. Looking forward to hearing it all.

Waspstar was far from a bad album !
It would just have been better with Daves input .

@lhair02
What a guitar player Dave is and was. His sound is XTC.
Looking forward to this
Listened to some Gene Vincent and the Shadows, Jeff Beck after watching this. XTC what a phenomenal band! Drums and Wires is the best.
thank you
I have the bootleg album you showed and I must admit ... it has the most powerful version of "No Language In Our Lungs" in existence! 👍
The mans a bloody legend
Tickets now available for XTC Fan Festival 25 O'Clock, next June in Swindon. Come join us and celebrate everything XTC!

How about Cynical Days for melancholy: "Another years gone by..."
I have an XTC live video performance of Outside World on my channel somewhere
I can only hope 4 an XTC Reunion....😢😢😢
