Productive trip, properly broke in a new set-up, had some chances, made one count! Great day of fishing, and a fine net job!
We’ve been dealing with low water and cold conditions. So it’s always good to find a couple bites in those conditions. The new rod has been awesome. 🎣
Thanks for the compliment on the net job. When it comes to netting, especially with salmon and steelhead, I think you have to be decisive and sort of aggressive.

Awesome video Barry! Pretty nice to hook up using a new rod and reel. WFO clusters are sweet. I have hooked fish using the Baby Cakes and Arctic Express colors, but not the Shrimp Daddy color. I figured that color would work.
Thanks Corby! Yeah, that shrimp daddy looks similar to the arctic express, but a little more peach color to it. I thought, ‘why not?’ 😁 They all seem to work.
I see the yellow better than orange - good video
It must be my amber lenses making the orange stand out over the yellow.
The GL2 is minttt. Got one myself. Solely & only used for Hardware !!!

Thank you! And yeah, that’s GL2 is in great shape. It’s lighter power sibling, my GL2 1024C, gets most of the use. It’s a medium power vs. medium heavy, a little better for lighter spinners and spoons.
@ mines a 9’0 12-15 fast action with medium heavy power. Once I start fishing B-Run Coho into Winters.
Minus my Herzog 10’ Certified.
Best hardware rod I own.

@NWJonathan that would be a fun video. Leave the bead and jig rod at home! I used to catch a lot of fish on hardware before I started filming.
Btw, my first float fishing rod was a certified pro 9’6” light power. Incredible rod! I still have it. 🎣

You will notice the newer models GCX/IMX-PRO have one number lower on the power rating for the equivalent line/ weight rating that has been consistent throughout G.Loomis models.
Yes, I covered that in the GCX review video. The GCX 1143 in the same specs as the old E6X 1145. I spoke to one of the engineers who told me they did that for consistency across the models.
@RAGEFISHING to me the biggest difference in the two models is the much faster more responsive recovery rate and as you mentioned k-frame guides.
Great video guys! That new GCX might be my next 1, suppose I better wait till I receive the Edge I have on order, or I'll be in trouble with the boss lady! Barry what size of needle are you using threading on those WFO? Thanks!
Thanks Gary! I’m not sure the size of the needle, but it’s pretty thick. You don’t want a small needle for threading those things. I’ll check my Amazon orders and get back to you. The larger needles also bore a better hole for getting the beads / clusters on the t-stops.

@NorthweSteelheadJunkies ya I bet it is,,, edge was throwing a promotion i couldn't resist,, and the one I ordered is totally different action/specs than any Loomis I have, we'll see?
