I started in WOTLK and never got to appreciate the ambience of TBC as endgame content. Just blasted through the zones with my music playing lol. Uelmen never ceases to amaze now that I've taken the time to listen to the soundtrack.
I *cannot* be the only one whom, upon first being introduced to the Auchindoun dungeons back in 07-08 timeframe, had thought to myself " wow this is total Diablo II music in WoW and DAMN is it sweet." Of course. No wonder.
It was funny playing TBC classic. I didn't realize it at first, but halfway through that wretched Lower City rep grind spamming Auch runs, it struck me "wait this is just diablo 2". Then I could hear it clearly throughout the expac, its so obviously Uelman. I think the OST did a lot of heavy lifting for making those rep grinds tolerable, and for the environment to feel as epic as it wanted to be.
Honor Hold music is one of the most atmospheric music i've ever heard in a game. combined with the whole setting it is just outstanding. really incredible!
Matt Ulemen is very Neofolk and early Post-Punk sound, alot of his music sounds like early the cure and Late Death In June with video game narrative of course. good job!
i think diablo 3s current sound track is lacking i wish they had used this music instead... When i think of diablo 1 and 2 i can hear the music right away ... I dont recall any from diablo 3.
For the love of Matt Uelmen, here are some timestamps: 0:00 - Ahn'Qiraj 3:50 - Auchindoun 8:33 - Blade's Edge Mountains 13:40 - Hellfire Peninsula 18:18 - Honor Hold 21:47 - Nagrand 30:22 - Naxxramas 35:27 - Shadowmoon Valley 40:18 - Terokkar Forest 44:35 - The Bladespire Ogres (idk probably cut off)
28:36 goosebumps began from the unexpected chords 28:50 goosebumps at it's peak 28:55 goosebumps calmed down, appreciation for matt uelmen's craft achieved.
Ahhh no wonder it made me think of Diablo, it was mostly made for the cancelled diablo 3! I love it, I think it fits very well for exploring the forest outside shattrath and evil caves around
Most memorable for me is Hellfire Peninsula! Watch out for that Fel Reaver.. Thrallmar/Honor Hold is under attack... Stadium has been taken by Horde/Alliance
Well, it did make leveling through outlands so much more memorable. I for one am happy we got to listen to these tracks in one form or another. And it kinda suited the expansion a lot, it embraced the "alien" feeling of the planet. There was nothing like Outlands in WoW until than and nothing like that ever since. The dark atmosphere of diablo suited wow a lot
Well considering that Matt did the music for Diablo 1 and 2, of course they share similarities. I for one love the fact that there's some diablo-esque music in WoW.
Matt Uelmen said, he originally composed this music for Diablo 3 but it ended up in World of Warcraft because of its importance at that time.
Hyroth1337 holy shit that would have been so epic for diablo 3, matt makes such great compositions its such a pity he left blizzard im pretty sure :(
+Hyroth1337 Really? Well, I shouldn't be too surprised, because many of these pieces immediately reminded me of Diablo II's soundtrack.
+Yoodge so that's why Burning Crusade's music is in such stark contrast to everything else in the series lol. the man's a genius
+Yoodge if thats true diablo 3 would have been way better. Sounds like diablo to me.
@@Groglor he did compose some of the music for d3 though but you're right, this is totally wasted on WoW, though TBC was awesome in its own right
So that's why TBC has the best ambient music in the whole World of Warcraft. It was suppose to be in Diablo 3.
No nothing beats original Elywn forrest theme .
Elwynn forest and Ogrimmar themes

Yep. I loved honor hold, looked it up and it was Matt Uelmen. That lonely french horn.
Can not agree more, TBC had that dark ambiance in warcraft
Yeah it's because this music was made for the blizzard north Diablo 3 before it was scrapped

Playing through the TBC a few years ago I always thought it was Diablo music!
It was funny playing TBC classic. I didn't realize it at first, but halfway through that wretched Lower City rep grind spamming Auch runs, it struck me "wait this is just diablo 2". Then I could hear it clearly throughout the expac, its so obviously Uelman. That's why i love the BC soundtrack so much. I never knew matt did it
I think the whole soundtrack is scrapped ost for blizzard north cancelled diablo 3 project. They didn't want to waste it I guess.
Honor Hold music is one of the most atmospheric music i've ever heard in a game. combined with the whole setting it is just outstanding. really incredible!
loved the music in d2 and burning crusade. so haunting. figures they were both done by the same genius.
This is one of the best Soundtracks for games ever written.
kinda sad how it was written for a game that never got released
Diablo 2 OST is top.
@@sirlionheart4614 Yeah, that is why i said, one of the best :)
Auchindon is very similar in feel to his diablo 2 cave music. Loving it
Probably remnants of Blizzard North's cancelled Diablo 3. They re-used some of it's music for TBC.
Matt Ulemen is very Neofolk and early Post-Punk sound, alot of his music sounds like early the cure and Late Death In June with video game narrative of course. good job!
Honestly, hands down some of the best ambient music I've ever heard in gaming, and easily my favorite WoW OST.
When 1 by 1 true developers of blizzard left the company, all was left us ghost and ashes...
i think diablo 3s current sound track is lacking i wish they had used this music instead... When i think of diablo 1 and 2 i can hear the music right away ... I dont recall any from diablo 3.
Tristam and Leoric songs are really good
Reaper of souls has some more memorable music
If you like this check out the Torchlight II soundtrack. Matt is an absolute MAD MAN.
Chopin motif around minute 20 :)
The moment when you fell you heard it somewhere else :)

i felt the exact same, man :)
Matt Uelmen and David Wise are the kings of ambient video game music.
The terokkar OST Is awesome! The violin, cellos make the feeling, i can feel the sounds and travel to these forest.
at 3:00 that part is like tearing into your soul....a truly chilling and insidious melody...fitting for and old god
Hearing the song when I entered Blade's Edge Mountains gave me chills for a few minutes.. incredible soundtrack, just like Uelmens all soundtracks
Thank you very much!
I can not explain why, but I think this music for outland and the more creepy zones of azeroth goes hand in hand with reading the Dune story.
Thanks for the compilation. Much of these are not in the official soundtrack. I think I'll add these to my custom Diablo playlist. Thanks!
I fucking knew that Hellfire Peninsula is too good when I heard it first and even still my favourite soundtrack. Now I know why Mr Uelmen
Listen to this music and imagine what should have been diablo 3 breaks my heart. A fucking Hold up :'( Thanks you for doing this bro'
He's a genius!
Matt
Snake.. Cool never heard it.. It is cool that Blizzard invited him again, genius musician
Fantastic, bravo !
0:00 This track is also present in Azshara in the Arkorokk Ruins
5:30 - 8:30 is a D2 catacomb music not Auchindoun ;)
Because it was intend for the true diablo 3
It plays in Auchindoun.
07:03 diablo like ♥
Torchlight2>
Game used to ooze personality.
What are the rough timestamps for the different tracks?
Add timestamps!
and sadly most of this isn't even on the official soundtrack :'(
Yes indeed, and I was very unhappy to learn this.
This would have been perfect for Diablo 3. They screwed everyone over!!
Track 2 is literally diablo 2+ music
Wait... After so many years... where is Netherstorm?
This is diablo, this isnt wow. If only... One can dream... I wish we got blizzard norths diablo over this abomination we have now.
Amen.

exactly. i much more prefer this music to be in WOW than Diablo 3. I will never forget Outland. @@voiavictor
I feel like D3 doesn't have a soundtrack.
Isn't the first track from Ahn'quiraj?
6:37~ is just copied from Diablo 1 Catacombs level 1 music lol
+ipso facto very similar
+ipso facto
I read that the original tunes were for diablo 3 , but after solving a total rework decided to use these tunes in addition WOW
+ipso facto the music for BC was frome the guy who did d1/d2 music. when the original d3 was scrapped those ost tracks were added to bc instead
Well considering that Matt did the music for Diablo 1 and 2, of course they share similarities. I for one love the fact that there's some diablo-esque music in WoW.
no coilfang reservoir. pleb.
I clicked this video cause my brain read Matt Uelmen as Matt Damon lol...
