Really glad this video exists! Really informative! I can now have a go an tidying some wiring I put in for the dash cam and reversing camera now I know how to take the a-pillar trims out. Keep up the good work!
Steve, just stumbled across you, watched a couple of the Fiestas and now the van. For me I can figure most stuff out like yourself. But by watching you its like a practice run. Thank You.
Hi Steve, just watching all your trafic vids as I've just bought one..good tip on the a pillar covers as I want to put grab rails in there....and a splitter...so thanks for that...
Good fix! I did two headlinings - one in a Volvo 740 estate (easy) and a 740 saloon (nightmare getting it out) so understand how hard yet easy it is. Of you have easy access its a doddle! If you fibreglass the back the ghosting and crack will disappear and agree with other comments about heat resistant glue!
The best way to fill the holes in the roof of the van is to weld some square steel pieces in the roof cos if you use any mastic of filler it will just wear away and welding steel will make it like new and it's the proper way to deal with it mate
@@Sparkplugsteve you don't need to re paint it get a vinyl wrap for the roof it makes it waterproof and saves alot of work don't spoil it by using tiger seal the vinyl wrap should be fine and far more better than re painting it all trust me
well done mate cheap and easy fix,, i remember buying a car that had silly speaker holes in the parcel shelf i just used cardboard,, and fabric from home and bargains lol looked great,,
You did well there, I remember trying to do a mini head lining when I was a kid (1987ish) was a proper pig. Had to use some evo-stick I think. I nearly passed out in that car... 😅
Nice job with the headliner. I want to black my headliner and pillar trims to match in my van. I was thinking of using 4 way stretch carpet, and better ideas would be welcome.
Steve, unfortunately your gonna have issues in the summer, as soon as that screwfix contact adhesive gets warm in the summer the fabric will sag, next year once it sags do it again with nemesis heat resistant spray adhesive from screwfix, it's £9 a can but it is worth it.... Ask me how I know lol
@@Sparkplugsteve indeed, I done mine on my zafira 2 years ago, first time I ever done any "retrimming" like you, granted it didn't look as good as yours, come the April when it was about 25 degrees, parked in the sun and it started sagging, Brought new material and nemesis from screwfix, and 18 months later still looks mint, when you do it with nemesis, do the whole roof lining, that way you don't have to worry about it been a perfect match with the colour, are you on Instagram or twitter? Il send some photos of my £40 job that I was quoted £800 for
Those panels are generally made of a type of fibre glass, I replaced the roof in the back of my T5 van and used Harris Trim Supplies for a faux suede and all the trim clips which were better than the original VW clips
Personally I would have sealed the wholes in the roof first to make sure there were no leaks, if there's a way in water will find it . Nice job on the roof lining though looks good and saved a fair few quid.
If you get any creases in your material steve run an iron around on them also use rubber grommets on your roof keep up the good work and good luck with the race days b good and b safe 🤓🤓👍👍
Yeah nice fix. Hindsight as it is would if tried just cross taping aswell as longways. May of just reduced the ghosting. Still tho youve every right to be chuffed i would be to. I sense your approach to life is similar to how you go about fixin these motors. Fascinating.
Loved the video, the headlining looks great!! If I buy the fabric and adhesive, don't suppose you fancy a trip to the south coast to do mine do you?? Lol. 😂😂😂
For the love of god don’t use that contact adhesive, first really hot/sunny day in the van and that glue gives up, found this out the hard way when I did the rear of my van, you can buy high temp contact adhesive
Nice to see you fixing up something other than a blue fiesta.... even if it is a van 😉 loving the cheap fix. I thought you'd keep the flashing light? help you get round the Rhondda faster! I remember driving round Ferndale with matts light.. inside the car! 😂
I would have done fiberglass repairs to strengthen it up at the breaks.... Then high quality (white) velcro to stop any sagging when it gets hot... Well if its Wales you might never have that problem... Cheap but decent roof wrap to give it a decent look and guarantee the water won't come in...
I was going to suggest either stitch the liner back together or glue which ever you find easier. Then find some material. Swede or any other material/fabric you can buy in rolls then glue it ontop of the liner so you can't see the repair job and stitch the new material all around the edges to hold it in place. Would look brand new for a fraction of the cost and just as i typed this you feckin did what i was typing for fuck sake 😂 😂 lol. So yea should look good!
Hey Love The Channel! I'm a small Car Tutorial Channel here in the UK, would love to work with you one day, maybe a basic Tutorial. Keep up the great vids!
@@Sparkplugsteve warm enough haha re lined my headliner in my old car and slowly started to sag and I'm also from wales. Hopefully yours doesn't though
Steve I would have applied some internal patches to the holes in the roof before fitting the headlining just to ensure they are absolutely weather proof for the future
What’s the deal with registering and selling vehicles from copart once you’ve repaired them? Is there anything specific that has to be done and do you have to register as anything specific if I was wanting to do something similar to this? Keep up the great videos!
Thanks for the video Steve! You really helped a brother out and kudos to you my friend for 'making do and mending!'
Great video guide to removing and refitting cab headlining. Gave me confidence to do this on a perfect one for insulation.
Nice one Steve. Great to see you recycle, after all it's a work van don't have to be immaculate. Keep it real. Thanks. Keep them coming.

fibre glass sheets and resin halfords sell i think and will solve the ghosting and hole and stiffen it up cool job saved some money there ;-)
Really helpful, thanks for taking the time to make the video
Well done Steve you have done a great job of the headlining

Stick a 2p over the holes with some Strong sealant always worked for me.😂
Best £14 spent ever! Really nice job, good enough for a van!
Top job I bet its inspired a few to take this same job on themselves.
When you work on the van the video should be under Glow plug Steve 😂👍🏻
Haha. Iv been called glow plug Gary a few times.
I’d be bloody over the moon with a £14 diy fix proper decent job you made of that having never done one before there bud 👍

A massive improvement over what it was like, so another top job. It's so satisfying when you fix something yourself lol.
This was one of the most satisfying things I've done. 😁
Great job Steve, very impressive. Looks a great match with the rear.
Very impressed with that fix, as you say not 100% but passable for a work van 👍🏻

I can weld but no way I'm repainting the roof. Tiger seal will Sort it out.

Spot on. I couldn't tell you what colour the headlining is on my vivaro. Iv never looked up.😂
Great job sir, very impressive indeed.
Cracking job Steve
'like a glove' haha love it
Great video thanks for sharing 👍

christopher mason fantastic advice bro
A brand new headlining for your van is £13.50 from Renault.
Only kidding, great job with that repair, I hope the other bits go as successfully
great job mate
Great job Ste buddy 👌
Looking a hell of a lot better that mate...Interia looks tidy
Nice work , looks good.

Amazing repair there bud, great work! 😄
Thanks.
Pretty good job done..
Job well done .
Looks great and looked realativly easy too:-)
Nice footwork.
Looks 100 times better than before mate nice job and saved you a lot of cash 👍
Nice to see you've got something else apart from that Fiesta I've got one of these vans so it's much more interesting
did you get the bullet hole out the back door
wont be long before it looks like a rang rover roof lol good work
Good repair 😎

The pink stuff......can't beat that stuff
You could have used fibre glass mating on the top it would have held it firmly, But you still did a good job of it :)
Didn't think Of that.
Yes It comes in handy sometimes
Good job indeed. 👍
Great stuff Steve should keep the light system and make it your work / track day support van....🤓👌
It is my work van but il never have a need for it to be honest plus it looks ugly. Thanks.

All you need are some rubber grommets or plugs and a little bit of silicone on the inside and out
Nice for £14 the front one is a van one they are all the same just the back one is different as the minibus one is full length from the bulkhead 😏
Good job that mate 👍🏻

Great job, but what about the holes in the roof from the light bar.
I did explain about them.👍

How much do u want for light
As long as you used a high temp contact adhesive should all be fine or you will notice it will start to sag in warmer weather
Good job we don't get warm weather on Wales then 😂
@@Sparkplugsteve warm enough haha re lined my headliner in my old car and slowly started to sag and I'm also from wales. Hopefully yours doesn't though
Two layers of fibreglass Matt soaked in resin would have been much stronger and more effective and last forever
Gorilla tape is better than gaffer..Much stonger bond and fabric reinforced.
Top job amigo :)
Cheers

If at first you don’t succeed don’t pull harder just broke one in half 😟
The technique is going to be slide it into the back, then hopefully it will go fairly smooth... 😂

shame it didnrt have the optional air con vents in the roof where the lining meets, inbetween front and middle bench
You must be single or got a good lady spraying contact glue in the kitchen! 😂
If you put your insurance on the van and call them youl get a free windscreen
I hope you filled the holes lol
More stuff like this👍🤣
Just asked my mate who breaks these vans and vivaros how much the roof trim and he said £30 notes 😂
You'll be picking glass up for the next few years
I would have used sika flex on the roof holes
You forgot holes
What holes?
Your such a bodger 😆
Bodge it and scarper
