That's the spirit. It doesn't really matter how old the IFE is as long as it's in good working order and has a decent variety of movies, music and documentaries to choose from.
I love to fly with KLM, I generally find that their customer service is superb and this is something that is very important to me.
I also love the Dutch people very much, very friendly and easygoing.
I just watched this as I celebrate the anniversary of my very first flight aboard a 747-400 on route to the USA for the first time exactly 20 years ago, today. We took off from Schipol. At this precise moment during the flight, we were over the North Atlantic I believe about to go over Greenland on our way to Minneapolis/St Paul.
Watching your video brings back fond memories of that day. The excitement I felt in every inch of my body, the sound and smell of the Jet, the gorgeous Italian girl sitting next to me, the great service from the Stewardess and of course, the WONDERFUL food. KLM always feeds its passengers well. It was wonderful. Thank you for making this memorial special. 👊😎

Thank you for the full take off. It is the most exciting part of a flight, and I hate this trend of speeding up take offs. Great report on an interesting flight.
Your meal looks very nice, lovely and colourful vegetable pasta and a nicely prepared salad.
I also love how KLM provides you with a free Tub of chilled water.
Nice video! KLM is great, I miss those 747M. my last flight on one was more than 10 years ago (AMS-BKK). Too bad that you could't see Greenland, it's one of the best views you can get on a plane in my opinion. As an advice, I wouldn't remove my shoes until the plane is airborne. Should there be an evacuation, it's always better to have them on.
AMS - LAX, in a KLM 747, that area is gone.

Nothing more comforting than looking out of the window and seeing two engines hanging under each wing, especially when flying over oceans. It is a shame to see less and less of them flying. Thanks for the great trip report and your experience flying the 747 Combi !!

Very much enjoyed your trip report thanks. What a great aircraft the KLM 747-400 is. Wonderful. Flown on it a few times (BFL, BFW and BFU) and really enjoyed it. The crews are pleasant too. Glad I got to fly them before Corona caused them to be pulled. It was nice to see in your video other pax straining to catch sight of Los Angeles as you descended. That's the fun of flying. We are so blessed to have the chance to experience this. Thanks again for your enjoyable report and for letting us come with you!

Being a fusspot about airline airplanes, the 747-400 seems to be a short haul flight with leg space, a meal and refreshments,conducive to a business flight.🎄👏

Delivered in 1999? Wow 🤩. Flew on a B747-400 that year to go to California with my family. British Airways flight ✈️ from Heathrow to SFO.

Thanks for this trip report man. I’m about to fly LAX-AMS on the KLM 747 next month. Really looking forward to that trip since it is my first 747 flight in years and probably my last chance to fly the KLM 747 :(

I‘ve flown on 10A from AMS to MEX and back but you should mention that we are talking about the more expensive Economy Comfort here 😉
Took the 747 from LAX to AMS in September 2019 too, just a different date.... I figured that was going to be our last trip on the 747, and it was my third on that particular plane. My next trip to The Netherlands will be later this year in a 777-200.....

This aircraft is PH-BFV ‘City of Vancouver’, not PH-BVF as stated in the video. PH-BVF is in fact a 777-300ER. Obviously this was just a typo, just thought I’d point it out.

Man, I'm wondering if I'll ever get to fly a 747 again. I've flown them on United and Thai before. They are fading....been a few years since I've flown one.

Amsterdam Airport Schiphol and KLM will loose a big part their identities when the beautiful majestic blue KLM 747 retires. That will be heartbreaking

Why do the slats retract on touchdown? Anyone know?
They retract as soon as the pilot raises the reverse lever so that no damage can occur to the slats from the reverse flow. As soon as the levers are stowed again, the slats come out again

Flying back and forth to Amsterdam used to be fun with Klm, in the past I used them about 2 to 3 times a year in order to visit my family.
Lately I have been hesitant to use them, booking with them has become quit expensive, a charge for triándome a charge for that, the seat u are referring to 17a on a round trip will add. Over 400 to the ticket price. No thanks klm ; by the way happy 100th

Well the IFE upgrade has been some time ago, and theyre not going to upgrade on planes scheduled for disassembly.

Hi, everybody:) The KLM management just simply MUST have LOST their FUCKING mind, by the time they decided to exchange their 747's...by the SCARELINERS (the 787's)!! They will REALLY REGRET, within just months!! There is no such aircraft as the 747!! She is THE QUEEN of the skies :) Regards, Jacob Hansen, Kanebogen, Northern Scandinavia...

Very expensive KLM always, you can better fly with a younger plane and cheaper plane like Turkish Airlines. Klm is very old and expensive.
