One reason that helped you win that track event is at 6-speed transmission. As much as people recommend downgrading to a 5-speed (because its stronger) there are some companies out there producing heavy duty gear sets and options for the 6-spd. The 6-spd maintains that close ratio gear set for the advantage over a 5-spd to keep the engine in that sweet spot power band. Being a Evo 8 MR owner would like to see what you push the 6-speed with new tech and maintain the track advantage ⚙️ 🏁
I feel like he won because he’s completely in-tune with driving that car. His driving as progressed like crazy. And his suspension and alignment are extremely dialed-in. You can tell he’s completely understanding of the car. And he doesn’t have a 6-speed anymore if I recall right
@@frankchu7190 We’ll see how the 5spd is at other tracks. Limerock is very very heavy on mid and high speed corners with really nothing slow or any long straights

I don't comment very often but I just need to say how much I love every one of your videos. Genuinely look forward to sitting down with a beer and watching you guys. Thank you and keep it up!
I just love the personalities of the two bens. Short Ben is definitely more technical while Tall Ben is just go with the flow, "we will see what happens" type of attitude and I think its great. I can definitely relate to the both of you. Great Job gentlemen
Congrats on you and The Evo pulling it through that's awesome. You needed that win and a for once a semi reliable Evo. Sorry for The Civic's gremlins I hope you get it sorted out b/c when that thing does run it's a deadly beast even scaring some of the Forced induction racers times. I hope to see you 2 and Dustin doing hanging out, both of your channels are great and teach a lot of people. Ben I hope you get a new transmission and Ben I hope you get your Civic sorted out. Peace and much luck next time.
Congrats on the win with the Evo! I was driving behind the Civic in the grey PhD Racing Supra getting sprayed with oil 😂 had to wipe it off after every session. You guys came over and apologized to me about it on grid, which was awesome, even though I wasn’t bothered by it lol.
Looking at footage it might be worth trying to get more droop on the rear shocks of the ek so under full load you have both rear tyres in contact with the tarmac. Although can't remember how thick the rear sway bar is so could just be that.
100% you should do a collab with The BoostedBoiz and show them the ropes of how to build a track civic for fast lap times so you can properly experience why the car exists in the first place.. It's the only thing (which is hard to believe when they're doing a full blown Honda channel) which those guys haven't properly done with a civic / K-swap :( The true appreciation of designers Kohichi Hirata, Masakazu Udagawa; Yoshi Kigoyoshi , etc..
Bruh your breakdown of your mistake is very cool not in a bad way like you're able to understand your mistake and make changes to your driving and progress. I see you killing it man. Make it happen.
Good to see the Evo being driven and so well too! Congrats on the lap time and the win! Keen to see that plazmaman intercooler on it too ;) In Australia any car you see with that intercooler will mean business. That's why I got it on my Evo ;)
Absolutely so good to see some more gridlife coverage, the progression with both the Evo and the civic are incredible! Be proud G&G,and as always keep up the good work
Automotive Videomakers to Proper Track Monsters. Absolutely awesome. Im glad i subbed to the Bens doing some sickass driving! Congrats on the win tall Ben!
Great video and congrats Ben on breaking the record with an Evo. What are the wheel specs on the RPF1s? I can't seem to find them without spacers and the flat face.
@@9manny99 same bro I daily drive a 2002 eclipse rs man and it's nerve racking but honestly I've saved up enough so I'm planning on buying an old car and doing maintenance on it so I can daily drive it and have the eclipse as a track car
@@djpollo2474 sounds like a good plan man. I own a 2021 STI and i want to make it like Lin’s evo. A track car that can still be street driven. I just don’t want to look stupid during my first track day 😅
The story of (Civic) Ben following Mike Coon's black STI going offroad is hilarious. I got to hang out with Mike and Pete and even ride in Mike's car during one of the taxi laps, and it was incredible. Funny to see him go off-track with that STI.
I doubt there’s “oil soak” in your tires. That would have dried out in a couple laps on that dry track coupled with those friction slides around corners.
great video guys. currently on the ben’s lap section, really cool to put that in the middle of the video. i’m a broke college kid right now but this is giving me inspiration for what i want to do when i graduate!
The EK is showing suspension jacking in the rear end which is detrimental towards rear end grip. Suspension jacking is caused by a roll center that is below ground during roll conditions. The EVO is also showing this to a lesser extent. This can be corrected by raising the rear end, raising the roll center with suspension components such as drop knuckles, or limiting suspension travel.
Hoping that buying those tshirts will help you with that front lip of yours Ben, also I loved watching your 1:36.3 from the car camera that was really cool seeing what goes on inside the car during sessions
I love these videos because I know I won't ever be able to do anything like this. The money it takes to go to a track is insane, beyond just tyres and track session. There's always bound to be something that breaks that needs to be replaced. That's just the nature of cars being pushed to the limit. But its alright I get enough joy driving on the twisties so I can just watch track racing videos and play games to get the enjoyment that I can't afford. Can't wait for the next installments of grid life!
Oil seeped into the tyre, use paint thinner and soak a rag with it, wipe soaked rag onto the tyre.. scrub them hard... Another method is by buying big loads of RC car tyre rubber prep liqud... Use it the same way as the paint thinner... (Just more expensive but more effective)... That way u help cleans up and recondition the rubber to its prime grip level... Also helps for the tyre to grip better while waiting for tyre temp getting into optimum level...
Great video as usual. I would like to see you guys start considering some nomex suits. Sparco could do your livery if you or you sponsor wanted to pay the extra, but they have off the shelf colors too.
For just $400 a track event, you too can help Ben with another front lip on his Evo 😂
He could sell the broken lips to fans :)
I went to my first track event with my uncle to watch and it was around 200$ per person 😂

Just a crazy idea: helmets painted/wrapped to match car liveries.
YES! That would rock. Reminds me of the custom helmets that fighter pilots have.
Yes
you mean what MotoGP and F1 already do?
@@MR_ii_5150 I mean it happens in race classes from Club all the way to F1 but I don't think this guy was suggesting it was a groundbreaking new idea.

I agree with this but if you make enough power and track dependent, it shouldn't matter.

Looking at footage it might be worth trying to get more droop on the rear shocks of the ek so under full load you have both rear tyres in contact with the tarmac. Although can't remember how thick the rear sway bar is so could just be that.
Likely a lot of factors at play but agreed. Tripoding looks cool but you're losing grip in doing so.
