  • In this episode, I work on three of my Portulacaria Afra trees. It's been about a year since I worked on these trees and they've really bushed out. It's time to give them a good prune. After getting together with some Minnesota Bonsai Society members recently to talk about PAs, I was inspired to do some work. Check out these other youtube videos for some really great PA videos.

Hello! The video is very nicely and comprehensively shot. I wonder if I put ten stems of Portulacaria afra together and tie them well to see if they would grow together over time, like Ficus, for example. I'm interested in it. I would like to create such a massive tangle of P.afra. Thank you very much and I wish you continued creation of videos
    good luck!

Recently took over a couple of sorry looking houseplant PA from a friend so this video is good for this purpose to make em more bonsai-like. Have to admit that I found this through recommendation via Nigel Saunders video. However, every person have it's own take of this hobby so I like watch and absorb bits and pieces from everyone that is in line with my own persona. Subed, Cheers from Sweden!

Thanks for sharing. I love watching a lot of other people's videos too. I found Nigel in the beginning and have enjoyed our new RUclips friendship. He comments on some of mine and I do the same. Some fun stuff and it's nice to see a person who is still so passionate bout bonsai and does such a nice job of staying true to himself and very organic in his bonsai.

Dave, I love your PA videos. Since I do not have nor plan on getting full spectrum lights, and then dealing with fairly good seasonal natural light here in Ohio, my questions are one in what seasons do you do your pruning? Do you let them grow throughout the summer without pruning and let them rest during the winter and then in the spring transplant and/or prune them? How old are the PAs in your three plant mini forest?
