    Such a treat to watch your videos and I'd be a comfortable passenger in your aircraft anytime! That landing at first looked like a floater, but you kissed that landing and nailed the timing on the runway exit. Phenomenal

    • @A330Driver
      @A330Driver  7 месяцев назад +3

      I think the only realism point that would really make a difference would be turbulence. I’m not sure how good XPL is with local turbulence due to terrain, but that local turbulence is what makes Madeira such a challenge in real life.

    I’m starting to try to fly more in Europe. It would be helpful for those of us US pilots if someone put together a little tour through Europe. I’ve done a decent job muddling my way through but planning approaches and handling atc is a little different. Might draw more pilots to this part of the world! 😊

    RNP W 02R into SBRJ looks surreal when flying over hills and buildings.
    It's just amazing to see the plane get all the way right on top of the runway.
    Can Operators have their own approaches which are not published in the official charts?
    For example, I seen two unique approaches into Tivat which only one operator uses but never seen them if the charts. Like these two on flightradar: "data/flights/4o153/#35924302" "data/flights/4o151#359045b8"

    How often are airlines flying RNP vs visual approaches into Madeira these days? I just watched your old 05 visual approach video from 2 years ago, and in it you said that the Fenix doesn't allow you to insert the last 2 waypoints, but there was a workaround. Is that still the case or did Fenix add more functionality? If they did, it would be great if you could do a remake of the visual approach video.

    Hello A330 driver. Thank you for this video. May I ask, now that there exists this RNP approach using the AP until so close to the runway, have airlines mandated that flight crew only use this approach, or have airlines still allowed their crew a choice of using the RNP appr or the older more manual approach?

  • @HDGAMER8462

    I am sure I didn’t get GPWS warnings when I flew that approach with the ZIBO 737 last week on XP12. And when I was too close to terrain away from the approach path (flying over the island), it worked perfectly well.

    • @tomstravels520
      @tomstravels520 3 месяца назад

      Does Zibo actually simulate EGPWS or is it just basic GPWS though. If its basic GPWS it wont warn you of terrain ahead of you, only the terrain under you

    I tried flying the RNAV 19 into KDCA with the inibuilds A320neo but the Autopilot disconnected just before minimums and before the final turn 😱😱

    • @tomstravels520
      @tomstravels520 3 месяца назад +1

      That is how the original software used to be for the FMGC and autoflight system. The autopilot would disconnect at MDA or DH -50ft and FD no longer provide guidance. However newer software (like Fenix has) allows FD and AP to remain engaged until the missed approach point (which for RNP AR is typically the threshold)

    Nice approach! I will rty it by myself :-)
    What about the MSFS turbulence settings? I have no real life reference ... so ... is "realistic" really realistic?
    Any real life pilot who can help me with this question? What are your turbulence settings?

    • @A330Driver
      @A330Driver  7 месяцев назад

      "Realistic" used to be realistic when it came out, but they have broken some stuff again since then. To be honest, since they introduced those enormous updrafts, I reverted back to "low" just to get rid of them.

    • @mitthraw9934
      @mitthraw9934 7 месяцев назад

      @@A330Driver Great to hear that! Thank you Emanuel and have a nice day. I will then revert back to "low". I already flew on "low" all the time but changed it a few weeks ago to realistic and it really felt uncomfortable to me. Flying a little Cessna with realistic turbulence settings was a mess and I could not imagine that this was really realistic at all...same with the airliners. So, thank you and now I can sleep in peace :-)

    • @A330Driver
      @A330Driver  7 месяцев назад

      The sim gave me quite some turbulence on short final, including a little gust when I flared the plane. That led to the small climb. What's important is how you recover that. Don't push the nose down too far, or you risk a nose gear landing. Stuff like that happens, doesn't make it "not good".
