Not sure what happened to your reply Jesper, but while Alpine hasn't exactly been setting the world on fire they are a factory team. RBR is working on it too. The rest are all customer teams. Yes, Alfa was more so than McLaren or Aston but it's just a matter of degree. Compared to a factory team it's a huge difference.

Well, McLaren road cars only exist in the first place because of McLaren F1. So they are unlike the other two. AM and AR use the branding/likeness of vehicle manufacturers but have no actual connection to them so they don’t Manufacture anything outside of F1. None of them are Works teams. Manufacture does not equal Engine Manufacture in F1 speak. When Red Bull Powertrains (separate from the team) starts producing power units it will be an Engine Manufacturer. Red Bull Racing (the actual race team) will still be considered a Factory/Works team as they are now, not a Manufacturer.

Audi was racing in group B, a class of utter madness, where road car versions were built only due to homologation-rules. The Audi Sport Quattro only shared its name and a few minor parts with the road-car version. Personally I'd choose an Audi R8 over a Mercedez or Ferrari everytime.
