    Portable AC Off Grid Boating: 5 Reasons SunJoy IceCove VS Zero Breeze MK2. Off grid boating in the Florida Keys on the hot summer months are tough, especially overnight stays on a boat, camping for a few days out on the water. We found an amazing company that produces a great Portable AC Unit that we are able to use in our boat. This system also works on battery. Company is Called SunJoy and the product is IceCove Portable Air Conditioning Unit for Off Grid, Camping, and very useful for power or grid outages.

    Very cool (pun intended). I feel like you all did your homework. I also feel like you experienced all of the same predicaments I went through on my small cuddy. I ended up buying the expensive Mark 2 over 3 years ago. It does well for my small space. My biggest issue is battery time. I spend 3 days, 2 nights camping on it. I’m trying to figure out the best way to recharge and prolong run time. Wish I had seen this unit, but I appreciate watching and learning from your set up.

      My brother. The Mark2 is an awesome unit. I know the Zero Breeze is coming out with a MK 3. Talking about bad to da bone! It's has awesome specs. The IceCove is a newer company when it comes to portable AC units. We found this company. The Specs showed many up's then the MK 2. The single hose was what did it for us, but we were ready to buy the MK2 which is a great product. ❤️👍

    Great video! If you hadn't purchased the Zero Breeze, don't waste your time. I bought it, used it on a similarly sized cuddy, and it simply couldn't cool down under the S. Fla heat even after optimizing it's setup with hoses and all - had to return it. That unit is simply not made for the S. Fla heat and humidity. I ended up buying a $300 portable a/c unit which works great except it's cumbersome with the tubing etc. I do run it off a portable generator. I read the IceCove can be powered off a/c which is what I use. I'm a bit pessimistic on these small compact a/c units but looking forward to the next video on how it performed. Great video Gus! regards.

      Hello MrWater4Fun
      Thank you so much for your comment and support. I completely agree with you. I have a good friend that has a RUclips channel called Perfect Fit Boating and he too said the same, of just buying an ac unit and generator. Get something with 5000 or better BTUs. We are avoiding the extra weight and space that it will take, but you never know in the future that might be the route we are going to have to take. So far we are very impressed with the IceCove. I know it's only 200 more BTUs than the MK 2 but it's still 200 more. What come out of that hose is cold. The battery is also larger, at 40ah/896wh on the IceCove. The Mk2 is 35h/840wh. Still a little more but that little more helps a lot when it comes to extending the run time. We too are hoping that this will be it. Next is the installation, which that going to be challenging, then we are taking a 6days trip on our boat and Living in it for that time. We will definitely document it all. Thank you so much for watching. I wish you all the best, maybe we will cross paths out on the water. 😁👍 Stay blessed my friend.

      @@2BearsOutdoors Sounds good Gus, I'm Pablo, good to meet you. Will definitely say hello if I see you out there. I forgot to mention, the portable a/c unit I'm using is 5000 BTUs and does pull about 1000 watts usage. I also have a small head, but we keep it shut so that's less space volume to cool down. As you know, those hot and wind-less summer nights combined with the little insulation in our small cabin boats are brutal. They surely put any a/c to the test.
      Totally hear you with the space and all other considerations, been there and still here! Yes I follow your Perfect Fit friends too :)
      Keep up the cool content! Cheers

    You can’t discredit them Zero Breeze for have a smaller battery if you don’t understand physics. The Zero Breeze runs 240watts from an 840watt-hour battery. This provides 3 hours 30 minutes of high performance, dual-hose cooling (3.5hrs=840/240). The IceCove runs 250watts from an 896watt-hour battery. This provides 3 hours 35 minutes of inefficient, one-hose cooling (3.584=896/250). The extra 5 minute runtime from the IceCove is a drop in the bucket compared to the additional cooling efficiency gained from 3.5 hours of ZeroBreeze.

      Hello and thanks for that. Yes I don't understand the physics of the units and I'm not discrediting the good folks from Zero Breeze. We are going by an alternative portable battery AC unit that we decided to make the purchase due to specs and price point. We were ready to purchase the ZeroBreeze M2 but saw this other unit IceCove pop up on Amazon.. We decided to give it a try. This unit has done us well, our situation on our boat is very different and the single hose hookup seemed more appealing to us due to the way we have to set up, the specs between the two the IceCove seemed more to what we were looking for. I've ran the battery pack 2 different time now on a full change. The first time used, the charge was depleted a bit. We got about 4 hours of run time. The other two times on full charge, we were able to get over 5 hours of runtime on the low setting. Not bad at all and kept the area cool. , Of course in low setting. I've not yet used it on the hi setting. So surely it will pull more from the battery. Thank you for the comment. Blessings

      Brother Thomas hello. How are you? As a matter of fact we did. We spent 7 days out on the water in blazing South FL Heat. Loll. We just came back from that trip. I am going to do a follow up video soon on installation and how the unit performed for us. A spoiler alert, it did well. Not freezing cold in the cabin but way better then we ever experienced on summer months in our cabin. Most importantly, our pups were not hot or panting at night. That speaks in high volume considering they are they first to roast in the cabin with their fur coats. I will get to that video ASAP. Thank you so much for your support, we always appreciate it. Blessings to ya brother.

    Have you tried having the unit in the cabin and ducting the warm air out? It seems that the unit would cool faster by pulling in the slowly cooling air in the cabin vs the always warm air on the outside.

    • @2BearsOutdoors
      @2BearsOutdoors  2 месяца назад +2

      Hello Robert. Thanks for the comment We did try the unit in the cabin with exhaust going out. With the cabin being so steamlngly humid, it to very long to start cooling because it was working of pulling all the humidity out. Since we are realiing more on the battery to power the unit, we need the AC to start cooling quickly. We will be making another video soon on installation and do some off grid boating with the unit. Lets see what happens. Thank you for commenting.

      @@2BearsOutdoors love seeing your videos and i agree with the gentleman's comment of having the unit inside the cabin. The principals of an AC system is to relocate the hot air outside just as in a home the evaporator is inside the house and condenser outside the house. Great videos. Keep it up bears 🐻🐻

My brother, many blessings to you and your family. Thanks again.

      How are you. Yes, we are very excited to give it a go especially since it Now Blazing Hot in South Florida. The installation is going to tricky but we have 2 options to made it work. Then our 6days out on the water living in our boat. That's when we will really find out. But we are very happy with our purchase and already very impressed with the amount of cold air that the IceCove puts out. It's very affordable considering other competitors of same style products are far more expensive. If the IceCove does well in our cuddy boat it's definitely money we'll spent. Thank you again my brother. Many blessings.

    Did you try the ice cooler inside the insulated space? Or only outside?

    • @2BearsOutdoors
      @2BearsOutdoors  21 день назад +1

      Hello Keen125, yes we have. There's very little space inside but we are working out a way to run the unit inside the cabin. The unit will run cooler if the air intake is taking in cooler air. It will take a lot longer to cool down the area because of the humidity and heat inside the cabin, but once it's starts cooling down, the unit puts out colder temperatures. Thank you for the comment and support.
