Think about the rep Carmelo has gotten from being in NY. He is 'good in the city' & he made it out of the first round less times with the Knicks than Brunson has. I think it's different for guys like them, though. Both of them won championships & finals MVPs in their second season (and also won multiple championships at the beginning of their career with the help of great teams & coaches). When you start off winning & get the prestige that comes with it, it makes the idea of sacrificing money for the team easier as the benefits of it are tangible & seem more attainable/repeatable. Same reason why Mahomes left money on the table with his recent contract.
Lebron taking a pay cut doesn't change the team's outlook. The Celtics are much better than the Lakers no player that would've signed with the Lakers would turn them into a title contender. No way you are telling me Klay or Derozen changed the Lakers to the point that the lakers a championship favorites. Lebron played in an era where every player is looked at as underpaid compared to contracts today. If you look at Jayson Tatum his NBA earnings are probably going to surpass Lebron pretty easily even tho they aren't the same level of players. So players who played in the 2000s or early 2010s making 20mil as an all-star would make double that right now. I believe Lebron does want to win but sacrificing 20-40mil to get a player who might not fit or isn't that third-star level just isn't a smart thing business-wise. Lebron at least got the Lakers in the 1st apron taking a 3mil pay cut I think. It's also stupid to deny that Lebron didn't try to take a pay cut. His contract was off the books because he opt-out so in that process they could've signed someone before signing Lebron but the fact that they didn't show you a lot. The Lakers possibly could've used Bronny as Leverage if I were the Lakers GM I would use 30mil on a free agent and sign Lebron with the remaining money which he can't decline because he wants to play with Bronny.
Nobody ever factors who boogie was playin with and the organization he played for when they talk about his individual game. Put him on a at least decent organization i bet u get a better outcome
im a believer in controlling what u can control. the kings were incompetent,but boogie did not help himself. The timberwolves were incompetent but i can count on one hand how many plays off ive seen KG take. i can count on 2 hands the amount of plays id see boogie take off EVERY game. i dont hold the kings being bad against boogie,i do hold his actions against him though
