very good stuff, these are stuff most high level spies know but consider these things as very basic so no one talks about it, keep it up (: (the async part isnt entirely accurate, its just a movement pattern that isnt reacting your movement with their own movement, they can still be aware of you)
Honestly one of the best videos that came out of the TF2 content sphere, being up against an experienced spy is hellish because they always seem to backstab from every angle, this helps a lot
Game sense is also important in other games too. If a game has loud footsteps you can use those footsteps to determine where the enemy is. I was a competitive game of overwatch a while ago and heard footsteps as my entire team was respawning, because I heard footsteps I alerted my team of an enemy flanker. It doesn’t even need to be footsteps, a spy’s decloak, a medics ubercharge sound, a pyros airblast, teleported noises, a sentry beep, all of which can be used to determine where the enemy is and can be used to best apply pressure.
In my nearly 6k hours of tf2 I've had one person do it to me, and do it well. It was a pyro that just let me come at him from the side who ignored me as I approached him. Basically, I got flare punched the moment I got close enough to him
After so many years of the game being out one would think that such relatively basic things wouldn't need to be covered. Most of this advice is shared around in the spy community, it's just scattered around and often presented in pieces so it may not make much sense to beginners. I merely put it together and took some creative liberties while presenting it :))
I don't know if this is somehow helpful to spies, but as someone who has spent at least 50% of my 2000 hours in the game playing pyro, if im in a group and see a spy running for an important pick like a medic or his pocket, ill flame him and then immediately airblast him upwards to get him away and alert my teammates, though i only do this if i cant kill him in time its very rare i fall for a trickstab, if it happens its never when i was already actively chasing them- i usually just stand there and wait because i know theyre trying to time when id run in 😂the most difficult spies for me to deal with are the ones who are very good at spamming the dead ringer, and shoot me out of my flamethrower range since my secondaries usually wouldnt kill them fast enough those guys are a real pain and, since i rely on close quarters combat ill stick to walls and corners and behind things like rocks or sheds to get as close as possible without being in sight
I'd say it just plays in to the telegraphing part in this. Being predictable with your intentions as a spy, especially in front of a capable pyro is a death sentence most of the time. Best way to deal with this would be to just take care of the rest of the enemy team, so the pyro would be forced to chase you around (if he doesn't his team plays at constant disadvantage if you do well), ask your friends to bait the pyro to get stabs close to him, gun (as you mentioned). I usually advocate against the diamondback, especially as a default pick for any time, however if the enemy team is being held together by a singular pyro, or he's troubling you, the diamondback is a very easy way to get rid of him to keep the game rolling. As for stabbing such players (stand there and wait), it's all about believe it or not... not going for trickstabs. But I'll try covering that more in the next one :))
The armwarmers and black nail polish are crazy. It's a coin-flip: either Queer or homophobic. Really hard to tell without seeing any text chat interactions.

lol I'm decently good (5k hrs) and I learned a lot
Spy can really feel like a whole other game inside of TF2. I should play him more

lieuty truly is the modern stabby stabby, also great video! I loved the little animations.
Faking unawareness is also great way to lure spies towards you as any class so you can easly kill him

4:20 what an art stab was this for engi :D
As simple as this advice is, it is surprisingly helpful and I don't understand why your one of the only people giving it.
