The actors playing both Jia and Ruyi make this scene so memorable, their acting are oscar level. Jia is at the edge of insanity, the last thread of redemption to die peacefully was shattered into betrayal, guilts, angers, hatred. Ruyi watching this quietly almost impassive but one can feels the emotions beneath that, the anger mix with disgust boiling underneath. She doesn’t need to scream or talk much, but it’s all shown in her eyes.

So many things Ruyi said here to Jia ended up applying to herself: 'You're most unhappy. So you don't eat medicine and you don't get treatment. You let yourself go... For such a flippant man. You devoted your life. It's not worthwhile' 😥

Concubine Jia played one of the best villains in the whole series! Her acting skills were absolutely outstanding 👏. She played the part so well that even though she was evil and committed horrible crimes, by the end you can't help but feel sorry for her and how she was just a puppet. All of the women are just puppets, being used by either their home clans, Empress Dowager, the original Empress, or even his Majesty. Even Hailan used her son or others to help Ruyi. As much as Ruyi thought love could sustain her, that wasn't what kept you alive and in power. You had to be ruthless as well as smart. This whole series has some of the best casting I have seen. Their acting skills are absolutely phenomenal!

I love that the emperor let her suffer for her crimes, but after her death, he gave her title back and turn all her sons dukes, so they wouldn't be discriminated by the others princes, he even know Jia's father was lying, so he gave her a clan (Shu) so she could be buried as Royal Concubine Shujia. In the end, she was honoured for being a mother and the one who most gave princes for the Emperor, but still punished for her sins

By the end, the camera blurs her out and focuses on the bracelet, signaling karma, a Buddhist concept. She just faced retribution for everything she had done, and Buddha can see her.

Jia could've been a normal person marrying the man she chose (and could just get a divorce if the marriage didn't work out) instead of being sent by her family to a different country as a political pawn and child-bearing machine. Actually I think she could even achieve great things in her career, by being so resourceful, calculated and (slightly) ruthless.
She could be a successful lawyer or businesswoman. Even if she didn't end up becoming a virtuous person, she probably wouldn't break any laws or kill anyone, or get killed by her enemy.

She was great actress but I never felt bad for her, she was sheer evil. She killed children, just ruthless. I struggle with agreeing that she loved her children, in watching the entire series all 80 plus episodes. IMO she used her kids as pawns for power, she seduced the king to get pregnant as often as possible and all driven by her greed for power and to hv her son be the next king. If there was another child on the way, she plotted to get them killed. Just ruthless, no empathy at All for her, but great acting nonetheless.

When Ruyi was banished to the Cold Palace Suoxin asked her about her long nails and Ruyi replied, "Though I will be in the Cold Palace, I still need to live with dignity."
When Aruo was exposed and fell from grace, Ruyi ripped out her long fingernails.
When Jia was imprisoned, it was around spring/summer because of the buzzing cicadas at the beginning of the previous video. By now it is autumn/early winter by the looks of the trees. Thinking things over I don't think Jia could have ever had a good end. She fell in love so fast and so young and then was snatched away to marry the future Qianlong. She loved the idea of that man and was so obsessed with being liked by him she did so much evil. But if she had stayed in Korea and married him she would have found out quickly what he was truly like, and still would have been miserable as a result. Just look at what he did to his main wife after he was crowned. How could Jia have fared better? And even if she married another man in Korea she likely would have remained obsessed with the crown prince, and ended up in a similar state. This does play heavily into Bhuddist principles of needing to clear your mind of attachments and obsessions to achieve peace and happiness.

She did a lot of instigating, but in the end, everyone else did too. She couldn't have done these things without the involvement of numerous other people, and the dedication of others to let things go and not bring things up. The whole harem was rotten to the core, and it's almost built to be that way. I think this show does a great job of showing that.

She loved her Korean Lord all her life, & unwillingly got married off to an Emperor in a far off place.

Being a monster parent to her sons, forcing them to be heirs to the throne, and bragging about her ‘lover lover lover’ day by day. Until she finally ruined her eldest son’s career. Killing her infant son and said ‘may your spirit protect my lover’. Everything literally came from her imagination, and no one in the palace would had business with her delusion. Such a cheap woman by treating her sons as tools more than real children. Throughout the episode, you can barely hear any loving words or motherly scenes when it comes to Jia and her children!

Elaine Michelle T yea I get that but the punishments are based on what the emperor thinks is best. It's still better than killing all of her family 9 or more generations back. They're trying not to cause problems with her clan as well so this is more or less a light punishemnt

    • @yorkiesweetpea23
      @yorkiesweetpea23 3 года назад +10

On the other hand, the punishments for Wifey Ling & her mother were too light! But it was definitely "made for TV" 😆
Wifey Ling needed to live in order for the drama to continue it's intrigue.
If we're talking "realism", correct punishments etc, QianLong's biggest 忌 is black magic.
One of those 5 dolls was found inside wifey Ling & her mom's residence INSIDE the palace.
If we wanna talk realistic punishments, then that crime itself would of been: off with their heads plus 3 generations.
But this is a drama, most of the characters did exist, but the plots are made for tv.
      Good tv too 😁

Hence why those women acted like serial killers psychopaths to survive their hostile environment . Also these women were sent by the tribal clans kings and most of them were at the age of 13-14 years very few were older and have to survive far away from family so they learned by watching and aligning themselves with the older women in the harem . He the emperor actually encouraged the animosity and the criminal behavior among the women when he favored some more than others . One just have to pity those poor women .
