The way the king almost would've believed Yanwan's argument if it hadn't been for The Dowager's appearance. It's even more traumatizing that Ruyi planned to this step so she had prepared for the Dowager to make the ultimate hit. She knew how untrustworthy the king was.
Ruyi was close to the Dowager, and once in her younger days, The Dowager had warned her that the emperor's heart and means is never to be trusted

Literally. I’ve always been confused as to how calm he was. He definitely wud hve let her off if all these things didnt happen.
You know, I hated Wei Yanwan but it was so satisfying to have her tell the emperor that he locked up and hurt the only person in the palace who was truly sincere towards him. He felt that. Her venom made it worse. Good! The first time her venomous nature actually did something good.
Of course all the women knew that she loved him they all did but they seen him misuse her so they all felt that they can misuse her too she wasn't she wasn't an outright evil woman she wasn't like that she tried to take everything in his Drive even with him but they knew that she loved him and they knew that he was taken with her that's why he was able to do what he did tell her to go get to tell this woman to sleep with him and all this stuff no that that's not a man you don't ask your wife for them things unless something is seriously wrong with you and something was seriously wrong with him he knew everything that these women were doing half of them he just didn't care if he was an escape goat for everybody in the palace her love was just too strong for him but we have to remember that she was a child that's his to her childhood sweetheart they grew up together I never learned nothing that that way but I'm pretty sure that it's a strong bond I think it's awesome if you could marry your sweetheart somebody blew up with I'm a military brat so we never sit still so I don't know nothing about it but I think it's pretty awesome and I admire her she had a loving heart she was more Queen than any of all of them put together she was more woman than all that he had put together

I think Hailan is underrated here. Her face tells the whole story. When her eyes well up at the flags and then to see pure hate when Ling is kneeling. She’s fantastic.
Hailan’s actress is incredible; you really get to read all the emotion on her face. When she looks at Ling, it makes my blood run cold. When she looks at the Emperor, he must feel two centimetres tall
And seeing her son's sutra flag almost made her cry. I wanted to hug her.
She's amazing indeed. I wish I knew other movies with that actress. Beautiful, elegant and good at her art

The king and Yanwan are equal at this point and perfectly matched. Both are selfish, suspicious and self-serving. She is his true student and he has evolved as a teacher. He escapes only because he is the emperor and nothing else.

What I like about this scene is the fact that no matter how pissed Consort Yu is, and how viscious the emperor is, she still doesnt look docile when talking to the emperor. She's the consort aside from Ruyi that is still alive and has been with him the longest, thats why she was fine with showing her anger without trying to look dainty or what have you, giving the ring ro him without even bowing or anything, talking back to him when he told her to go with ED. A lot of layers to these character's dynamic.
Consort Yu’s son died recently she doesnt give a F#%& about anything but ruyi anymore

Wei Yanwan was honest and truthful about two things:
1. He made her who she was, what she had become. Yes, she was a living, breathing, physical manifestation of his darkest, most perverse desires, the innermost monster he had tried so hard to conceal from the rest of the world.
2. Out of all the women in his harem, Ruyi was and would always be the one who truly loved and cared for him as passionately and devotedly as a wife would her husband, and wholly unlike all the others, her love for him had absolutely no ulterior motive or personal agenda, but he permanently killed that love with his bare hands, and there was absolutely no way that love could ever be revived.
The very greatest tragedy of all, though, would be what Ruyi had pointed out: while the monster had finally been caught in the act and exposed for what it was, all those whom it had slaughtered were never coming back. I hope that with each and every flag that he counted and read, the Emperor felt like he had been slapped or punched in the face.

Her ambition caused her to do the evil things not the Emperor. Even as a flower girl she wanted to have it all. She was willing to let her mother die for her, kill innocent children so she could climb into the Emperor’s bed.

He was just as bad because he allowed her to run a muck trying to spite Ruyi, Only to find out that she was the one killing all your children Except for her own with you

I felt kind of vindicated and ecstatic for a little while just a little while when Ling she lost 2 sons(14th and 15th princes) in one night after having the midwife kill Ruyi's 2nd son the 13th prince
The flags arent only for the concubine, but also for the emperor, who always forgives her evil deeds. Showing how many people were killed for that undeserved forgivefullness
The real stinger is when she tells him, “you raised me- did I not learn well enough?” The worst part is that it’s true and he knows it

I'm always brought to tears when the flag scriptures are brought in. To see how many innocent lives she took broke my heart. It still makes me sad knowing Ruyi was punished for all the lies and never got to hold her son Yongqi for the last time.
Nor did she ever get to meet her biological son Yongji for the last time before she passed. No wonder the boy grew up with psychological issues. The saddest part is the psychotic emperor had the nerve to point it out without acknowledging that he was to blame for his son's condition.

This series should have been broadcasted abroad. Zhou Xun acting is really award winning calibre. I had said this before and will say it again. Even Zhou Xun is not the prettiest of the crop, she does have the package as an actress no wonder she is China's top actress and artiste. I adore her a lot. She should have at least win an international award.
I love how subtle the Empress Dowager is at notifying Consort Yu that they need to leave and how perceptive Consort Yu is that she takes the hint. So much growth for her

This is my 2nd favorite scene. My all time favorite was the exchange or more accurately, reality check Ruyi gave the Emperor right before she cut her hair on the boat. I don't think she forgot anything and delivered it like a boss.

Most satisfying episode to watch. The actress who played the evil Ling is a damn good actress despite her antagonist role....
It's also satisfying to see how she was slapped and kicked by the emperor... And how Yuhu helped to knocked her head down to bow down to all the scriptures and how she ruthlessly fed the poison down Ling's throat...

Ruyi's actress is W.O.W. even without words but by just her facial expression you can clearly see her sorrow and hardship.

I have to say that the use of the word ‘hussy’ was so satisfying in this scene. The acting is so, so good. The musical score nailed it. I could watch this a million times and find something to appreciate. Top notch actors. All of them. Not one weak link in this cast.

Ruyi is a strong woman despite of many evil trials that the other ladies tried to bring her down. The emperor doesn't deserved her. He never keep his promise to protect her.
I used to watch other historical dramas and their is this one line that i can simply compare to their situation. "When a person gets into power, even his promise could be forgotten hence throw away their person or beloved for that."
The emperor had his fault, but Ling is shameful enough to blame all her sins on him and anyone. You never wanted his love, you seduced him from the start. What fault did he commit on this? As an emperor to his concubine, he treated you with his greatest favour already. Your consequence came from your evil, not anyone.
I agree. I can't stand the Emperor in this, however he never made her kill so many people. She did that all on her own.
She want that her son be the next king.
It wasn't that he stood there and taught her the steps to become a serial killer. It was that he taught her through his actions and preferences how to be successful in the harem. He preferred to be adored, coddled, have his commands followed without question, to have his secret desires come true. She learned from him that he doesn't actually love anyone in his harem, he only loves himself. So he was really good at giving one consort all kinds of attention, then getting bored or frustrated with her and ignoring her, moving onto the next consort. He did this over and over again. Consort Jia and Ling figured this out and used it to their advantage. By the time this scene happens, Ling had been in the Forbidden City for decades and had learned how to manipulate the Emperor, as well as how to go after people who made her mad while leaving very little evidence. She learned how to be exactly what the Emperor wanted.
Also note, this isn't the first time a consort has told the Emperor that it's his fault. Almost every single one of them said this, most on their death beds. Telling him that he didn't love any of them. That he was selfish and cold. That being in the harem was a horrible experience. And some of them confessed their greatest sins, as well as told on other women. But none of it affected him at all. Right before he leaves for Mulan Hunting Grounds, he goes to see Ruyi because she has not accepted the Empress seal. He tells her he's made mistakes and he hopes she can forgive him and become the Empress for the good of the dynasty. He tells her that the past is done, so just forget it and start new. Completely unwilling to own up to any fault, no matter how big. Even after she passes away, he's angry because she cut herself out of a picture and left a note only for their son basically telling him to have nothing to do with the business of being Emperor, to go live his life and be happy. He was jealous that he didn't know she was sick, that she didn't try to get well, and that she didn't want to be buried with him. She wanted to be free.
Believe me, as horrible as Ling was, the Emperor deserved her. No one else did, but he sure did.
@@scrappymom7881 There was a difference between teaching and motivating. There’s a free will within everyone. Ling should have known to be content when she got all the titles and riches when she was promoted step by step. But still she chose to be ‘motivated’ by the emperor and committing all those horrible things. Ruyi had been with the emperor for decades, but she never turned evil or scheming. Just as the dowager said, we walked our path and we have no one to blame. You could still be a happy concubine enjoying life without killing children or scheming one another. In fact, all those women in there could do the same, but they just keep saying that they are all forced and this and that, pretending they had no choice in order to victimise themselves and beautifying their biased actions.

19.10 to 21.00 is what made me fell in love with the evil character the first time in the whole series, what she said is all true . All her actions are connected or motivated by the emperor. She is labeled as evil because of her gender, why is no one labeling the emperor as the same. Her honest confession her is one of the best moments in the series.

No one said he was innocent either. In fact, we blame him more than her. But one has to be responsible for his or her actions. No one forced her to do anything. Yes, because of her position in life, it caused her to take the opportunity to rise, but other than that???
She isn't labelled as evil because of her gender she is labeled as evil because of her action. Everyone who has watch the series described him as evil and despicable. Get your feminazi facts straight.
I’m sorry but the emperor is hated more then her she’s hated because she killed so many just to hurt others. She was jealous of Royi and had issues with integrity but he was also a selfish asshat who loved himself more then anyone else. He never bothered to thank the loyal and loved the crazy more then the good. Because the crazy just agreed with his crap. The good wanted to help him be better. Yes he was his worst enemy but she was just as evil if not more because she had more awareness of herself she know what she was doing hurt all around her and did not care. The emperor was so selfish he could not see past his nose. He had no self reflection and just was very selfish and clueless of others. His mom raised a selfish brat with no self reflection and his behaviors show it.
Consort Long sacrificed her own mother to save her own skin... That in itself is pure evil.

Its really amazing how up in her head she was, even till the end she was denying all that she did and was still justifying killing innocent children all for that climb to power.

@Suzette1122 I remembered a comment talked about the difference between Ling and Ruyi. When the emperor slapped her before she cut her hair, she held her head and stood up again while her face cold and disappointed. Then when Qianlong slapped and kicked Consort Ling in disgust, she begged and wailed and quibbled, and you can see her whole figure sprawled on the ground almost.
This was a great contrast which displayed their status and character- Noble vs underhanded, decent vs lowly.
Not trying to justify Ling Fei’s actions but children were considered threats in most Royal or noble households. Even the Emperor and other kings have killed their own offspring because of this. Just in this series alone, Qianlong is responsible for several wives and a few of his sons deaths.
Hongli’s father deposed 3rd prince hongshi as well for an example

This was my favorite episode throughout this whole drama... with my blood pressure raised at it's peak, it boggled my mind why they waited so fricking long after so many deaths to finally reveal this crazy murderous serial killer. It made no sense to me at all. It angered me that so many wrongs were happening and it seemed that the Empress although faithful and true took the brunt of what the Jackazz emperor dished out, just because he can. In my opinion... he deserved the worst Karma that can be given out.
this is one reason why I'm glad that I wasn't born in this era ... the way men treated women and being married to several women is just a disgusting thought 🤢.
You can blame the Emperor all you want but even today people like her hurt innocent people every single day because people only want to hear one side of the story, and how can people just listen to some stranger, when the person you know has always been the same everyone allows these things to happen
This was due to them having to do extensive investigating while we were seeing everything like the proverbial fly on the wall. They wouldn't know all.
She made her greatest mistake in trying to kill her assistant. She withstood questioning by ruyi tied up.
She watched her murder those she felt would betray her to save their skin. Her greatest mistake going after the Prince so soon .
Poor Ling Yunche. He was only one of the scapegoats destroyed by the immature, jealous man/boy emperor.

What Yanwan's final words really does make sense. It was the Emperor who molded her at all.

As hurtful as ling's words were, it's true. The emperor decides how his harem is treated overall. The injustice, and scheming, he allows it. He turns his head away and has someone else deals with it. But yes, ruyi has always been true to herself and true to him but he couldn't see it because of his arrogant way. It must've hurt him badly to hear her words but he truly deserved it after everything ruyi has been through. And time and time again, ruyi says she is sick and tired of the scheming. Even empress dowager grew to love and respect ruyi and she hates ruyi's bloodline.
His favored consort killed his children , I was surprised he did not blame Ruyi for the killing as he always do. He always blame her for everything that goes wrong. I think Ruyi falls out of love already after all the physical and mental abuse that she suffered. Ruyi did not take her medicine for her illness because she do not want to live and see the emperor again. Her fervent wish is to be free of him.
This is a prime example. For someone like Wei she knew exactly the damage she caused. Once the damage is done sometimes its so far you cant go back and fix it anymore.

@@shuurin_raichi you're right, if anyone here watched The Legend of Zhen Huan, then it's easy to see why she is as she is, and that she didn't kill any children. Only the wives. Honestly, she's was pretty much like Ruyi back in the day in my opinion, before the previous Emperor screwed her over with his stupidity.

The scene where she had to bow at every banner with the name of every person she hurt is the best of all. And the soundtrack is spot on. Kudos to the director.

But still when she is on screen , leaves an impact , you cant forget her , how this sweet docile lady transformed into 2 nd / 1 st in command in harem after ruyi death . Her son's death transformed her. She says all with her expressions. Even king could trust her in the end .

Watching this I see many similarities with Wei Yanwan and her mother. They both lie a claim innocence even when they've been clearly exposed. If a modern day phycologist were to evaluate these characters I'm positive they would be diagnosed sociopaths. Even the emperor falls into that category. It's no wonder the emperor was so fond of her the personalities fit.

歷史沒有人說的是絕對客觀真實的，立場不同理解就不同，呈現的樣子就不一樣不是很正常嗎？
如果真的要看令妃很受寵的戲可以去看延禧攻略啊，但延禧攻略符合歷史嗎？當然也不完全符合啊！
今天離清代有距離，要考據可能從遺留的文物、史書記載、口耳相傳這些的，可是不管任何人去記載，都不會是完完全全符合歷史的啊！
教你歷史的歷史老師教的也不會是百分百正確的歷史啦！大家都是帶著有色眼鏡去看這個世界的^_^
❷就戲劇而言
你今天要做戲就不可能完全不考慮TA吧？做如懿傳花的錢真的很多很多，你覺得誰會花大錢只為了完全符合歷史做了一個又臭又長的爛戲，要馬腦子有洞要馬太有錢！
一篇作文都要有起承轉合了一齣戲難道就不需要高潮迭起嗎？況且它是作為一個電視劇、宮廷劇，那種明爭暗鬥波詭雲譎的是導演要呈現的氣氛，編劇給了一個好的本導演又編排得好所以吃得下去的觀眾一定比愛靠邀得還多嘛！
做戲可以不帶寓意，但一定要帶自己的想法和理解！製作方是作為一個創作者，創作者要替這個故事加入自己想傳達的，他想傳達的就是蘭因絮果善惡有報那些，那他就會做啊！比起去靠邀其他戲厲害的多好吧？
再來我看到有留言要「架空」，啊真的是在靠邀，架空完到底要看什麼？沒有學過任何戲劇概論就不要邊看邊靠邀，一齣戲要做的好看不是只有要符合歷史。

覺得是爛戲沒關係，花時間看爛戲還看到大結局還刷好幾個影片留言，那就真的很好笑
同意你說的，我從前幾部就一直看到有人在不斷死咬著不符合歷史這點不放，然後一邊嫌棄又還是一邊看到了結尾，回了留言想提出不同看法也沒被回應

@sei.tsukino LOL, how does Yanxi Palace have more depth? The female lead acts like a frivolous, 'plucky' ya character, and is a damn fool of a maid always running her big mouth. In history, that sort of mouthy maid would've been executed from her first tirade. It's very cavalier about all the murders and questionable schemes the FL does, waving it off as all okay--she's the heroine, she can do no wrong! It romanticizes the honesty TOXIC relationship between Qianlong and Ling, whitewashing his possessiveness and mind games as love, and the way she accepted being his woman also as love, which is actually sickening considering he abused his power to force his brother-in-law to marry someone unwanted just so he can grab his lover for himself.
覺得太后也是幫兇，畢竟太后在炩做一堆手腳害死舒妃的時候就不該容下她了....
太后也没有想到她会有了僭越之心

It's always amazes me, the person who is quick to kill, begs so desperately for their own life. I don't think anyone other than Ruyi was aware of just how many people Ling either killed, harmed or got rid of like so much garbage. She might have even forgotten some herself.

The reality of those bows is that her head would have been pushed down so violently that her head would be bleeding. It is also a surprise that this Emperor was so weak in this drama. I am not sure if they are all like this, but an empire would never expand, and would be targeted by the ones around them if their ruler was this weak, and pathetic. this is my opinion, and only based on these dramas, but this drama made it look like this empire was much like the Roman Empire when it was in decay, being picked apart by the surrounding tribes before it finally fell.
If you look at the history of his time as Emperor, the second half of it is plagued by corruption and scandal. It does appear that he was not a good Emperor and started the downfall of the Qing Dynasty
