I love how Ruyi so effortlessly shuts Jia down in front of everyone. It never dawned on Jia that she was dealing with a superior intellect in Ruyi. Ruyi had the intellect and ability to be just as cunning and ruthless as Jia. Ruyi let Jia set herself up then 2nd Empress knocked her down. 🤭🤭🤭🤭 I would be Rong Pei's bestie!!
Ruyi didn't only suffered the deaths of her own 2 children but also the first prince and yongqi who she raised like her own sons 😭! Her sad face when first prince died and again when yongqi die! All of them were killed by schemes First prince was Jia and yongqi was ling
One thing I noticed just now is that when Suoxin was giving Rong Pei the earrings, she called Luyun by her title (Noble Consort Chun) but called Jia by her maiden name (Jin Yuyan) because she doesnt respect her after what shes done

I like the little detail of Suoxin calling Chun as Noble Consort Chun and then Jia as just Jin Yuyan. It really highlights the contempt she has for her, as deserved
This is nothing compared to Suoxin limping rest of her life and what she went through and everyone else in her schemes. Like she was made example of and humiliated. Badass Rongpei!! Hailan is so proud - team Empress! 🙂 Happy Suoxin is living outside the palace with love and prosperity/wealth and a family who respect her :) very happy for her ending
I wish I spoke the language, I am not sure if the translation is correct. Jia states that Suoxin was "punished" by the Office of Careful Punishment, which was not true. She was tortured to attempt to get her to turn on Ruyi. Now, Jia was, in fact, "punished" by the Emperor. Two totally different things.

I think the translators relied on the context for the word "punished", assuming that we as English speakers would differentiate between the torture Suoxin received and the actual "punishment" the Emperor placed on Jia. The word used to describe the emperor's (and Ruyi's) "punishment" is 罚 (fá).
That's because they're both. From all of them, only one can become Emperor and they don't know whether they're going to be killed for their winner brother to preserve the throne or not. So why having too many kids if you only need to have the next Emperor? Because children used to die as enfants so they needed plenty of them as a spare. I have watched Turkish soap operas and it goes far beyond as it shows how a man makes his brother be executed. That's what is it: life in a harem is literally a game of thrones. You die or you win.

No. Of the many deaths and injuries she caused, the Empress was not the cause of INC Zehmin's death. Jia was and she used the First Prince to try and cause issues with the Empress behind her back to cause issues with Ruyi and then later on she used it to knock Chun and First prince down to raise Fourth Prince's station. This is also reflected with Mei's death as she also blamed the Empress wrongly based on information Jia had planted for others to find.

I don’t remember what she was accused of, but Jia accused her of doing something so heinous that they dragged her to the ward of punishment and hit her legs til she became paralyzed in one leg so she would confess, and now she is staring angrily at Jia because the woman who caused her to be limping forever is getting subtly punished for all the things she’s done, even if its a small punishment like being forced to ear earrings with wide hooks

During one episode, Jia accused Ruyi of having an affair with the Grand Buddhist Master, and her proof was a seven-gemstone bracelet and a forged letter addressed to Suoxin (the girl limping in black). I think the emperor accused Suoxin of covering for Ruyi so he sent Suoxin to be tortured until she confessed and sent Ruyi to another, less lively palace as punishment. That is, until the emperor’s birthday when Ruyi wrote the character for “birthday” with his penmanship as a hint that someone forged her handwriting, and he suddenly ordered that every servant in the palace start writing certain characters? I think? And Zhenshu (Jia’s maid and fellow Yu clan member) started writing sloppily like a child just learning to read and they took her back for confession, then they sent her to be whipped everywhere except her hands until she learnt how to write like Ruyi.

No. Of the many deaths and injuries she caused, the Empress was not the cause of INC Zehmin's death. Jia was and she used the First Prince to try and cause issues with the Empress behind her back to cause issues with Ruyi and then later on she used it to knock Chun and First prince down to raise Fourth Prince's station.
This is also reflected with Mei's death as she also blamed the Empress wrongly based on information Jia had planted for others to find.

I don’t remember what she was accused of, but Jia accused her of doing something so heinous that they dragged her to the ward of punishment and hit her legs til she became paralyzed in one leg so she would confess, and now she is staring angrily at Jia because the woman who caused her to be limping forever is getting subtly punished for all the things she’s done, even if its a small punishment like being forced to ear earrings with wide hooks

During one episode, Jia accused Ruyi of having an affair with the Grand Buddhist Master, and her proof was a seven-gemstone bracelet and a forged letter addressed to Suoxin (the girl limping in black). I think the emperor accused Suoxin of covering for Ruyi so he sent Suoxin to be tortured until she confessed and sent Ruyi to another, less lively palace as punishment. That is, until the emperor’s birthday when Ruyi wrote the character for “birthday” with his penmanship as a hint that someone forged her handwriting, and he suddenly ordered that every servant in the palace start writing certain characters? I think? And Zhenshu (Jia’s maid and fellow Yu clan member) started writing sloppily like a child just learning to read and they took her back for confession, then they sent her to be whipped everywhere except her hands until she learnt how to write like Ruyi.
